CAN gives El-Rufai 7 days to reveal source of Oritsejafor’s private jet

Controversial politician and former minister for the Federal Capital Terrotory, Mallam Nasir El Rufai, has been given a 7-day ultimatum by the Christian Association of Nigeria to reveal to Nigerians who gave the President of CAN, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, his private jet or risk having his dirty character exposed to the public. The Christian Association also asked El-Rufai to go for a Psychiatric test.

This is in response to the interview the former minister granted Saturday Sun dated 14th September where he called the CAN president a bigot and a pretender. El-Rufai said:
"The CAN president is not a religious leader. He is a religious pretender. From the statements he has made, he is a bigot. He is an ethnic irredentist and no one should take him serious. It is sad that such a person is the head of CAN. He can say whatever he wants to say but we know who he is working for, we know who gave him his private jet. so why should we worry about someone like that. He has zero credibility".
See CAN's response to El-Rufai's comments after the cut...

In a statement signed by Rev Emmanuel Dziggau and Elder Sunday Oibe, CAN said "The fact that he can abuse Jesus Christ in his tweets and Christians ignored him does not give him the impetus to make unguarded comments about Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, who is the leader of the Christians in Nigeria"

They also noted that Christians respect other faiths and have never abused the Sultan of Sokoto or the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Saad Abubakar 111 who is the leader of the Muslims in Nigeria.

Respect is reciprocal! Its just so sad that the Christian faith turns a blind eye to such slate at christian leaders, we in turn even castigate each others, one thing I love about muslims is the fact that they can't take such gibberish from anyone let alone castigate their spiritual leaders. As for El Rufai, he has always been an ethnic bigot! Always will be!

Anonymous said...

think CAN's response should be checked! If i understood CAN well, they can turn a blind eye when elRufai makes unguarded comments against Jesus but not when he does so against a man, CAN leader? Secondly this should not be made a xtian/muslim issue!I'm muslim and I'm taught by d religion to believe in Jesus though not in the same way as xtians paint him to be dats y im concerned by CANs statement in d 1st place.

If all El-Rufai said was true, then he should reveal the source of the CAN leader's jet as demanded from him;else, everything he said is uncalled for and could bring about religion crisis in our already confused nation.

The truth is that Christians always choose to ignore snide comments made about Jesus Christ.I don't think its wrong cos He's a God that can fight for himself. However, insulting the CAN president is unwarranted and I think it deserves a reply. In this country we don't fight with facts and evidence. We fight with words.Truth is he can sue him for defamation and El Rufai would have to provide a good defense or be in trouble. At the end of the day,I don tire for naija

El-rufai has always been a fool and will always be untill he accepts the lord jesus christ into his life...he should be left alone.it's wrong to exchange words with a mad person(el-rufai)

Anonymous said...

I think these so called personels in CAN need to check their brains. It's obvious most of these useless people regard and worship man more than JESUS. How can you boldly say you turned a deaf ear when this madman insulted JESUS Christ and now you're threatening him bc he insulted the CAN president? Besides why shld u respond to a madman? God said leave the battle for me for its not yours to fight. We as Christians aren't violent and that is part of our morals. JESUS Christ wasnt violent despite countless insults, provocations and so on. So whoever in CAN that wrote this response should just STFU.

Anonymous said...

El Rufai should go for a psychological test, I am sure he's unstable mentally because of his recent comments. This is why I question some of the so called religion leader most times, someone make stupid comment about our lord jesus christ and you turn a blind eye and same person now made comment about a human you're ranting here, this what muslims won't take from anyone even tho most times they blow it out of proportion which to me is evil. So point of correction Oritsejafor is the leader of CAN and not leader of christians in nigeria. Jesus is our leader and him alone we follow because CAN is just an association and doesn't represent all christian faith. More so I stop believing all these people, why is it hard for oritsejafor to mention the name of the person that bought him the jet? Why is hard for him to publicly criticise the level of corruption in the country now? Why is it hard for him to join voice with the masses and say NO to all the depression caused by our political leader? Rather he'll sit and dine with thesame politicians stealing our money, same people making life hard for us. Why? Because he's also part of those sharing the money stole from us, he's part of the problem. El Rufai and CAN should be check and CAN should come clean and act like a group that want positive change and better nigeria instead of talking like politicians. *ThatFunctionGuy*

What's the hue and cry from CAN about Nasir El Rufai's comments on the character of Ayo Oritsejafor. It was about him and not about CAN.

Those spinemasters shouldn't drag Christians as we are not certainly involved in this one. Ayo Oritsejafor has been shooting from his hips, acting as Chief Campaigner for GEJ. Its said that he who brings faggot-infested wood into the house should not complain when the rats visit.

Unknown said...

This CAN's response is totally irresponsible. An attack on Oritstejafor is definitely not an attack on Christianity. He should respond as an individual, not in the name of Nigeria's Christians. I lost respect for him as soon as he started dabbling into politics, and he definitely does not represent me. CAN should not start a problem between Christians and Muslims.

I dont blame El-Rufai. Oritsejafor is clearly politicized...openly campaigning for Jona out of pure ethnic sentiments. He opened himself up for such attacks.
We Xtians know our true leaders. Enough respect to the ilk of Sam Adeyemi, Oyaks, Paul Adefarasin and co. Those are true leaders. But there remains ONE who is outstanding. He who fearlessly stands by God against repression and impunity of power. When TUNDE BAKARE talks, WE MOVE!! That is a true leader. Oritsejafor commands no respect from xtians.

El-Rufai is candid to his opinion and owes no one any explanation whatsoever. What work does Oritsejafor do to own a jet? Nigeria and Nigerians as a whole no longer surprise me. It is more likely for pigs, cows, and shit to grow wings and fly than for Nigeria to ever progress in the direction of a first world country. A religious leader owning a private jet?. There is a white elephant in the room and people are more worried about the lizard. the level of thinking of most nigerians borders on mental retardation. In the words of Jonathan swift "I cannot but conclude the bulk of your Natives, to be the most pernicious Race of little odious Vermin that Nature ever suffered to crawl upon the surface of the earth". Oh and yes I am a Christian , I have a personal relationship with Christ not just the religion. There is a difference.

Anon@1251 and your cohorts. What did Jesus say about violence, something in the manner of turn the other cheek. What did he do when a sword was raised up to defend him in the garden of Gethsemane and in the commotion an ear was chopped off? You don't have to read the bible you can actually goggle the info, it's quicker. Please do get to know Christ. Violence has and will never be the way of true followers of Christ. It's what sets us apart from unbelievers . Good day and Peace be on to you.

I disagree with the fact that CAN president is the leader of Christians in Nigeria. Christian leadership is not politics. It is a bad egg that causes bad odour inside the room. Where did the CAN president get his jet from?why must he wait for el rufai to insult him before he gives a 7day ultimatum to reveal his secrets ? This is just a political turmoil not a religious fight!

Y our pastors are a lecherous and corrupt bunch God has started exposing you xtains for what you are... a pack of pretenders who are quick to abuse and insult other religions but cannot stand it when the holes and rot in their own religion is exposed. The pastor of COZA was implicated in a sex scandal, why didnt CAN take up the issue? why is it now that it has to do with the materials gains greed helped dem get, dey are crying foul like babies?

Anonymous said...

During elections, they will enter the jet and go round advising their memebers to vote for religion. Who bought the jet? why shouldnt it be spoken?

Anonymous said...

A pack of charlatans posing to be pastors. What has the kingdom of God got to do with jets ooo??

Anonymous said...

What do you mean by dt? Stop running ur mouth. When pastors gathered to put monies together to buy papa Ayo a P jet we heard no noise o,now that ds noise maker has spoken una wan know. GEJ did not buy dt jet, don't waste ur breath to think dt. Presido is stingy!

Pastors helping to hide kidnapped victims in their churches. The truth about the decay in the churches is fast unravelling.

You are the sick one cursing urself by insulting CAN!

Anonymous said...

Why shouldnt El Rufai talk? is he not a nigerian? are you people afraid of him? hes just exposing Oritsejafor for the crook he is. What do we need proof for? Do people ask for proof before dey begin to rain curses on muslims? which yeye proff, abeg carry go ElRufai!!!

Anonymous said...

Is Oritsejafor not a person? why cant he respond as a person? must he hide under CAN so as to create sentiments in peoples minds and start wahala? A man accused you, answer the man yourself!!

Anonymous said...

HI, this is Anon 12:01 again. this is in response to anon 2:29 pm who summarily said I'm a fool and dat Xtians dont fight for God but man (dats his own point of view ofcos!).

I take d fact dat I mentioned i'm muslim back, im sure dats what made u think im foolish, this time im a free thinker.
As a xtian dat u r, would u rather sit and watch someone cal the name of ur lord in vain, really?! If u can defend man and not your Lord and saviour, I think u r associating partner with God which logically makes u an idolator. Back to being a muslim,I ll defend Jesus, he is superior to CAN leader and I am taught to Love, respect, and adore maybe not worship him doe.

Logic simply solves some issue rather dan hiding under religious tenets. Whatever Rufai and CAN ve together is not a religious thing and last line, weather we r Xtians or Muslims, heaven is guaranteed only for d righteous and im not sure anyone will ve time in d hereafter to say "did I not tell u my religion is d only acceptable" so do good first before u r xtian or muslim!

All these drama Ȋ̝̊̅§ just in fulfilment of bible prophesy at Revelation 17: 16-18. Just watch out there are more to come that will signal the start of the great tribulations only those wι̊tн spiritual eyes will understanding. Imagine somebody made statement abt Jesus U̶̲̥̅̊ ignore now he make statement abt human being U̶̲̥̅̊ are reacting. Hehehe!! Political leaders v Christendom

CAN is one of the most irresponsible associations in Nigeria as of today, and they should cover their faces in shame (if they have any). How did giving his opinion about the gangster-like Oritsejafor become an abuse of Jesus christ?

Even if Elrufai insults Jesus, do they have to attack Muslims because of that? Does it mean that he's speaking on behalf of all Muslims? What kind of agbero CAN without any sense of decorum is this? Do they want to start another religious conflict? I have said it my times; if corruption & tribalism do not destroy Nigeria, religion definitely will. This statement by CAN is proof that they're Jonathan's extension of PDP.

Meanwhile, they left the all-important question Elrufai asked; where did he get the money to buy & maintain a private jet? The pope is driving a 20-year-old car but Nigerian pastors are driving Rolls Royce and flying private jets.

Let's all pause to think of this accusation and ask ourselves this question. Why should Religious Leaders own Private Jets? The CAN President should explain to Nigerians. The Catholic Church is the richest organisation in the world but the Pope doesn't and can never own a private Jet. He flies Air Italia like his predecessors because he has his priorities in the right places. You can't preach about vanity and live an ostentatious lifestyle. I'm happy the Catholic Church is not and can never be a member of CAN cos they know the internal deals that go on there. The earlier Christians realize that "some" of their Pastors are money loving hypocrites, the better for us all.

It is better to do research before speaking. When this obvious nutcase El Rufai insulted Jesus Christ on Twitter, CAN took him on till he issued a bogus apology.

As a xtian I dnt see orisajefor as our leader. Why didn't CAN investigate the COZA scandal. They all kept mute. We knw who gave him d private jet. He. Will soon come out to tell us that God told him jonah shld run for 2nd term. See what the primate said some days bak that universities shld be privitise and ban asuu. These leaders are nw poliitician. Political patronage.
We xtians really need to look elsewhere for leadership and nt frm the likes. Orisajefor & co.
Only that the bitter truth is coming frm the wrong person.

Eradicate ignorance from Nigerians and see how Nigeria will progress in the right direction. As it is using a biblical connotation it will be easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for Nigeria to move forward as a country.

I have read comments of Christians and literates with regrets, read national mirror FEB 4 2013 and see CAN response to EL rufai anti jesus tweets stop making issues were they are not the credibility of CAN is at stake here since it's leader was mentioned let EL rufai tell NIGERIANS who gave CAN president his private jeT until then Pastor AYO remains innocent.

Unknown said...

More is still coming...
When the Catholic Bishops conference decried the CAN president's unholy attachment to the govt. in power many cried foul.
It's unfortunate that this accusation (true or otherwise) is coming from a maverick like El Rufai but CAN's ultimatum is laughable.
Really it's not christians Vs El-Rufai but Oritsejafor Vs El-Rufai.

my dear fellow this is not the time to be disturbed about comment from leaders or non leaders, this is a time you will be bothered about eternity about your soul remember and know this that the coming of the lord is very quick prepare your way so that you don`t miss the RAPTURE(the coming of the lord jesus christ), and leave those that are caring for the things of this life and they that are making uncatious comment christ has promised to settle it all at his coming, Ecclesiates12:14 for God shall bring every work into judgement, with every secret thing, wethere they be good or evil.

My name is zino Obi-egbedi. I'm a member of word of life. Firstly let me start by saying pastor ayo's jet was a gift from us the church members to him. Secondly the money found on the jet is obviously a scandal. Pastor ayo doesn't have such money at his disposal. Thirdly what does he stand to gain by sponsoring boko haram?considering his relationship with Jonathan. Pastor ayo is a man who has the interest of all Christians at heart, this man has preached the gospel for 42 years...now is the time for Christians to unite and speak as on voice
