The Dr. Newton Jibunoh Desert Warriors Expedition is scheduled to take off in early 2010 as a joint venture between Lagos State Government's Ministry of Environment and FADE Africa.
Prior to the expedition, there will be a preliminary/screening stage, which will take the form of an Endurance Reality Show. It would involve 50 men and women aged between 18 and 40 years of age who will be selected from applicants who paid N 3,000 to apply at any of FCMB, Intercontinental, Zenith and UBA branches.
The 50 selected participants will be invited to become contestants on The Endurance Reality show in Agadez, Niger. They will join the Nigerian ambassador to Niger Republic, and will work with officials of the Republic of Niger's Ministry of Environment on various greening projects, community services and endurance exercises.

Linda - i am confused as to why reality show competitors have to pay a registration fee for this damn shows.....It would have been better if the quality and production of these shows up to par with the American/EURO versions that do not require any fees
Nigerian contestants and TV viewers need to protest this FRAUD.....american idol, real world, etc dont ask for these fees.....HISS
Am all for reality shows and all but what i don't understand is why lagos state is going to take N3,000 from a bunch of people then pick 50 of them to go to another country (keyword is "another" as in "not Nigeria") and participate in activities that will make thier country greener and also provide other community services to the country.
What happened to making our country greener? What happened to encouraging citizens to volunteer time to thier own communities to make our country better?
Nigeria is already messed up as it is, so why not do a show like this in nigeria? Fine, if it endurance exercise that they are looking for, I am pretty sure that there are plenty of places in nigeria that these contestants can go to experience desert and jungle life, and suffer a little bit while getting to test their endurance.
What surprises me the most is that this is show is in collarboration with lagos state ministry of environment. All one has to do in Lagos is look outside thier windows to see that the environment is F**ked up. If the the Lagos state ministry of environment are to fulfill thier responsibility of "providing decent, orderly and reasonable conducive environment for habitable society" or provide a greener environment, they should start at home. not go and provide free labour to other conutries.
Quick question before I wrap up my rant, what does 15 people plus filming crew and others driving the long distance from niger to london do to our environment in the long run? And they say they are trying to make the environment greener, Ha!
By the way can one really drive from africa to UK? Am just curious.
