The price of the Vehicle we bought is N62.5m and not N298m - Senate

The Nigerian Senate has just issued a statement through Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi the Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Publicity to clear the air on the conflicting figures in the media about the price of some vehicles purchased by the senate.
The statement reads;

Our attention has been drawn to the various false and mischievous reports in the media about the price of the vehicle which the Senate was said to have bought as part of its convoy but was later abandoned when it got impounded by the Customs over controversy surrounding import duty payment.
The correct price of the vehicle when it was imported in 2015 is $298,000 which at the prevailing rate of N165 to a dollar is about N49, 170. The Senate paid N62.5m for the vehicle in November 2015. This is contrary to the mischief by those who decided to turn the $298,000 to N298m as the price of the vehicle. For the avoidance of doubt, the price of that vehicle is N62.5m and not N298m.

The Senate will appreciate it if all reports relating to the legislative institution, particularly on this vehicle matter, are reported with accuracy and all facts put in proper perspective. We urge journalists to avoid sensationalism. The Senate is a responsible institution and those who believe that when they have issues to explain before it, the next thing to do is to resort to falsehood, blackmail, muck-raking and mud-slinging, should know that they are just overheating the polity and undermining our democratic institution.

Finally, the Senate wish to reiterate our total commitment to upholding the rule of law and to work for Nigerians, in accordance with our constitution.

So I should eat vegetables tonight? I can't believe anything that comes out of politicians. They work in the dark, promote falsehood because they have the power to hide the truth, and they are evil. if an independent non Nigerian firm and a serious one can investigate their accounts then I will take notice. Nigeria needs to change course or it will sink. The 'facts', products, services provided are below standard and rigged to provide support for the most evil of ambitions.

I thought you said you never bought any vehicle in the first place?

We are in recession, folks are hungry and all you guys do is buy new vehicles. What happened to the vehicles already procured by the National Assembly? Waste!

So 62.5 million Naira to buy a car is cheap in a country where 99% of its citizens live in abject poverty. Senator my foot.

My anger is that they don't even see anything wrong in buying vehicles worth 62.5 million naira each. So they will die if they drive vehicles worth 15 million or even below. Nigeria desperately needs God's divine intervention.

Teachers are not paid their paltry stipends. They are forced to work without pay,yet none stops the excesses of these senator. Rather, they are even planning on reducing teachers salaries by 20% in some states.- O.I.O.

But before you said you didn't buy any vehicle. I don't even agree with the 62.5 million you claimed to buy the car because you are not sincere from the first place.

All we do is rant on Linda ikeji's blog,we can stop all these corrupt politicians by boycotting the next elections but it's easier said than be done cos some people would still vote once they are given bags of rice,#5000 and probably eba! Revolution doesn't have to be bloody or violent,boycotting the next elections is the best avenue. Check out the cars in the garages of these politicians and what did kids drive,some people aren't guaranteed of three square meals talkless of balanced meals,they keep embezzling like they would live forever. Some people keep supporting these politicians while they live in abject poverty. When they are soliciting for our votes,they promise heaven and earth but once elected to see them na wahala,all their promises flies out of the window It's high time we wake up,let's stop believing in e go better and stop saying Nigerians are resilient,dem get 2 heads abi dem better pass you and me? Charly boy has always said said the truth but people keep crucifying him,he's willing to lead but are we ready to support him? We judge him by his life style but isn't he in some ways better than our greedy politicians? Look at the state of Nigeria, my fellow Nigerians it's time we put a stop to all these shallow way of thinking,for how long must we continue to suffer in silence,for how long?

Saraki & Co are selfish,arrogant ,unkind,and grow up institutionally CORRUPTED, HOW could you justify N62.5m naira on a depreciating-asset like automobile ,when you have 180million Nigerians starving ,this people are cold as ICE. IT'S time to make example of SARAKI & MALAYE,evrytime there's corruption case ,there name are always on the fore-front.These 2 youths need to be jail to send a clear message or they will never stop.
