Nigerian-American journalist, Imade Nibokun, says most Nigerian men are crappy fathers
US freelance writer/journalist, Imade Nibokun, took to her twitter handle this morning to rant about Nigerian men and how many of them are not good fathers. Imade, who has never met her biological father, says she avoids old Nigerian men like a plague. See more of her tweets after the cut...
Your father is a good man to have abandoned you, your just like a chimpanzee,if you where my duaghter too, ofcourse i flush you out the toilet, who wants this as a daughter, anuofia, open that wild mouth of yours like a cow in labour to call Nigerian Men names, idiot!
Nigerian fathers are awful. The typical one is furniture, he does nothing but scream at his wife and look for food around the house. He thinks bringing money is the only thing that makes him a man of the house. They don't know it takes more. God bless the wonderful Nigerian men who invest in their children's lives. Most Nigerian children owe their mothers their lives because they did everything go ensure they were brought up well. That's why you hear people in Nigeria say, women train your sons or daughters. You never hear them give men that responsibility because they don't bother with child care.
Dear Imade Nibokun you obviously have daddy issues and because you did not have your father around does not mean MOST Nigerian men are crappy fathers. I agree that we have crappy Nigerian fathers but not MOST of them. Infact they are a whole lot of fathers that are wonderful and my dad is one of them.....You don't use one father that is yours to judge all of themmm... You need therapy...ProudlyDeltan
Woman just don't generalized abeg. There are many good responsible Nigerian father everywhere, my father is one of them. Just because your father is a crap doesn't make all Nigerian dad bad
This girl is madin, if ur father crippy no mean say every other nigeria fathers dey crippy too. Sit down for where u dey we no nid u hear sef. Nonesense
You yourself contribute to that image, Linda, with how you treat Nigerian men engaging with their children as if it's a novelty. I can't count how many times I've come to LIB to you showing a Nigerian man nurturing his child as if to say, "See. They're not all bad. They're not all separated from their children's up bringing."
I agree, even the ones you have in your life are no exception. There are few good nigerian father's though like my father in law. My father is nothing to write home about. Didn't take care of his children. 5 kids 2 mothers, on top of that now he is old he has a sense of entitlement. Am your father! Lool you should be glad you don't know urs
Very true, they ain't just crappy fathers but horrible husbands as well. They never love and respect their wives yet they want to force her to be obedient. SUCH A SLAVE - MASTER RELATIONSHIO THAT NIGERIAN MEN CALL MARRIAGE AND FAMILY
Maybe i should throw a subliminal hit at her creating a new post or throw a direct hit here..anyways i ain't had no rebuttal but since i blog and rap i'd just say this i think she has daddy issues..its pathetic if you ask me.
Imade, you should have asked your mom a little bit of your father's background. Many reasonable children do that just to identify with their background. And I'm sure she could have told you one or two things about your dad. Except that, may be, your dad was probably just like your mom: just sleeping around with each other without getting to know each other better.Thinking of the consequence; end result: YOU! So, I still don't see the logic trying to avoid Nigerian men simply because of the potential questions of " where is you dad " disbelief. You need to reach out and know your people. Don't rely on the thinking of your mom(apparently she does not have one) because if she knew any better she would have asked all those questions you are grappling with today about your heritage. You don't have to be in Nigeria to connect with your people. Just open your mouth honey, and ask questions and they will be answered. My point of advice:DO NOT GET ANGRY WITH MIDDLE AGED NIGERIAN MEN, GET MAD WITH YOUR MOM FOR NOT ASKING THOSE QUESTIONS SHE SUPPOSED TO HAVE ASKED YOUR DAD!
Abeg Nigerian men are crappy fathers, in my class in Unilag we almost formed association ( association of children whose father left them) we were about 6 of us, we became friends cos of that and guess What? most of us are not yet married becos we are extra careful, we are trying to avoid our mother's mistakes
Grabs popcorn! Half of you cursing the girl need to go have a serious talk with your mother's about just how awesome daddy was. Well, idunno about being bad fathers but being bad husband...,....
It's simple. Linda let's vote on the topic "if you want to marry a man like your father say aye". Count the ayes against the nays. We go kno weda she talk tru or not. Naija men hv a lot to learn by way of being a real dad
Very good...sure poll... But we'll be dissapointed to see that most Nigerian men are either crappy fathers or very bad husbands..just few can be exonerated
Comments section to the top please. Anyways, Linda why do you put NIGERIAN in front of American? Seriously why. This person has NEVER been to Nigeria, or know her Father, whom I think did well to ESCAPE from her (c her mouth). If she does something bad in America, do you think the white man will add America behind Nigeria? Don't think so Love.

Your dad might be crappy but that doesn't make most Nigerian dads one.

Well. Some were not all.
My dear, just thank God you have reunited with your dad, that's what matters now.
Generation of people like you? I laugh in shorthand.
Imade, you should have asked your mom a little bit of your father's background. Many reasonable children do that just to identify with their background. That's entirely your opinion.
That your dad is an a*s*o*e doesn't mean everybody's dad is. You not only don't have a father, you were also not trained.
Grabs popcorn! Half of you cursing the girl need to go have a serious talk with your mother's about just how awesome daddy was. Well, idunno about being bad fathers but being bad husband...,....
