leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force, Asari Dokubo, has described Rivers State Governor and reelected chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum, Rotimi Amaechi as a “traitor.”. In a phone-in radio
programme in Port Harcourt on Saturday, Asari said Amaechi’s political
ambition did not tally with the ambition of the people of the state. Asari said:
“Amaechi and his commissioners can go back to slavery and continue to serve the northerners, who claim to be born to rule. We will never go back to slavery. We know the quality of those who are commissioners in Rivers State.
“Amaechi is a traitor and he will be treated like a traitor. Amaechi is not more Ikwerre than me. It is about liberty to rule. Amaechi wants to take us back to slavery. It will not be possible. The era of northern godfathers is gone.
“Amaechi and his ambition must be tied to the ambition of his people. In Kano, Amaechi said he would run as vice-president, if invited. I speak with all sense of responsibility. The oppressed people of the Niger Delta, through President Jonathan, will win in 2015. We will win clearly and convincingly.
“President Goodluck Jonathan will win in 2015. If they do not allow him to win, they will not be able to handle the consequences. An end must come to the suppression, oppression, repression and marginalisation of the people of the Niger Delta.
“The South-South and South-East people have been brushed aside for too long. People of the North said they would make Nigeria ungovernable for Jonathan, if he won in 2011, which they are doing.”

All these names are not northerners, and they have not stolen this money to the north instead to other countries, yet somebody with keep playing sentiments and telling us the north.
Am from the south-east, and as long as am concerned, the north has nothing to do with the happenings in the south-south and the south-east cos they re all the same. For the president, he has nothing to do with Amechi, including Asari, he is not a governor, and has no right to even say one word. I bet to say he has other agenda more all these noise he s been making.

People are calling Amaechi, GEJ's brother.. 15-20 years ago, Urhobos, Itsekiris, Ijaws were warring each other over land that would become oil fields. So because of oil money, all the bloodshed has been forgotten and they are now brothers.
Please Dokubo, GEJ, Amaechi they are all going for their personal interest in the name of fighting for the Niger Delta. Revenue allocation doesn't correlate positively with development, especially where the leaders of those regions just want to loot in order to advance their personal influence and political ambitions.
Nigerians are so forgetful, a few years back it was on this blog we heard that Dame Patience Jonathan insulted and walked out on Amaechi during a function. Is it that same Amaechi that needs to be loyal to a man that cannot control his wife.
The problem with this country isn't the northern oligarchy. It is the system we put in place at independence, where money goes to the center first and comes down to the states and local govts at the center's discretion.
Even the north that is crying foul, they collect more revenue in Kano and Jigawa alone than in the whole South Eastern region. this is possible because revenue is allocated to the LGs, which are considerably more in the north. However, every effort by the Lagos State Government to break its overcrowded LGs has been rebuffed by the center. That's why we have Local Council Development Areas.
This country is too complex for even Asari Dokubo to understand. The only problem I see is an hell bent attitude of insincerity by all leaders in all spheres of life in this nation. We have an attitude of twisting the truth to our advantage.
Even the northern oligarchs are suffering in the north because the minorities that the present oligarchs dethroned 300 years ago have woken up and want to be in the fore front of their affairs. That's why the less talked about problem of Fulanis attacking people prevail.
We can only pray for a wise leader that understands the history of this country, the real pains behind its ugliness and work out a solution. For me, quota system, federalism and other fake resource and influence sharing programs have to go. Then people can sit and talk about newer and fresher ideas to run the nation.

Both of them have issues. However, let me point out that in April, Amaechi reduced our salaries without notice or reason. My Pay went from 200k to 125K. Everybody I Know was affected so its not an error. Pls someone tell me what the money was used for!

To all u guys talking ill of GEJ, it shows u are ignorant of what his administration has achieved in just 2 years. Tell me if travellers are still complaining about ORE-BENIN Road? Is any of u aware of the roadmap being set in power sector that will forever revamp the sector for good? What do say about Agriculture Sector and many others? GEJ is the best president so far. Like him or not. It is obvious that a lot of do not like progress but I advise that u deal with it and let others be.
