Anorexic model who appeared in shock fashion campaign dies at 28

Isabelle Caro, a French actress and model whose anorexic image appeared in a shock Italian ad campaign, has died at the age of 28.

Her longtime acting instructor, Daniele Dubreuil-Prevot, said that Caro died on November 17 after returning to France from a job in Tokyo.
Dubreuil-Prevot said she did not know the cause of death but that Caro 'had been sick for a long time,' referring to her anorexia.
Caro featured in an ad campaign by Italian photographer Oliviero Toscani in 2007 for an Italian fashion house.

Under the headline 'No Anorexia,' images across newspapers and billboards showed Caro naked, vertebrae and facial bones protruding.
At 5ft 4in, she is reported to have weighed just 4st 8lb (68lbs) at the time.
Caro, who had her own blog site, said she had suffered from anorexia since she was 13 as the result of a 'difficult childhood'.

The sad thing is Naija people are now jumping on this 'skinny' bandwagon.
We are naturally shapely and long may this continue!

Statistics show that the chances of a black/african dying from anorexia is slim to nill. Now obesity on the other hand..I even blogged about it.

Either way these are mental illnesses and its so difficult for someone to reach another when they are locked in thier thoughts. I bet this lady had this mental image of herself as being too fat, when the reality was different. And no one would have been able to convince her otherwise. And who wants to bet that this started from childhood with one mumu saying 'isabel you are too fat, no one will ever love you' etc etc. Forgive my ranting, I dey vex! Its just sad how people's maltreatment/misyarnings go on to affect lives!!

May her soul RIP.

R.I.P

Many of our youths are taking such path becox of fashion!

My neighbour's daughter did same 2 years ago that people wondered if she had AIDS. Her mum had to beg her, & i believe her BF did likewise before returning to normal diet! just Imagine how a 5'7 with large bones & a squared face babe would look like then?

Nigerian women should take note since all of them want to jump on the bony bang wagon. I have a friend right here in Lagos who drinks laxatives twice a day to purge herself, na she sabi! There is a huge difference between being healthy, watching one's eating and working out AND having an unhealthy body image which cause a person to take drastic measures such as Bulimia and Anorexia just to keep their weight down. I had a cousin who during her modeling hey day would down a couple of peanut and a can of coke all in an attempt to keep her weight down.

Na una sabi! I could stand to lose a few pound but I will do it the old fashion way, eat right, exercise and get enough sleep.

If you ask that girl now, I am sure she wish she had had that damn bacon cheese burger now but it is too late. 28 years old, God rest her soul and grant her family comfort.
