What you are about to read is chilling, shocking and unbelievable. The suspected killer of Garba Bello, a senior operative of the State Security Service (SSS) who was killed alongside his wife and three children, last Monday, has turned out to be his eldest son.
In an interview with at the police headquarters yesterday in Kano, the accused, Bello Garba aka Baba 23, said he took the action because of the condition of his sick father, stating that technically he did not kill his father because he had already died before he decided to kill his mother and his three other siblings, that is, his brother and two sisters.
The suspect added that he wanted to murder the entire family including himself, but that after murdering them all, he changed his mind and decided to spare his own life.
According to Baba, he took the action because without their father, life would be unbearable for the family, "so I just killed them all with knives I took from the kitchen."
When asked as to why there were wounds around the father’s neck if he was not the one that killed him as he said, the suspect could not say anything.
On whether he had others who helped him execute the murders, Baba said he did it alone, adding that he killed them all at the back of the family compound, where their bodies were discovered.
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Muhammad Jiya Gana, has told newsmen that Baba decided to take the action because of the economic situation in the country, since the father had been sick, and that if he died, the responsibility of taking care of the family would be on him especially now that he is now jobless.
It could be recalled that the five deceased were found in their house at Zoo Road Housing Estate Monday, fueling speculations that the murders may have been politically motivated.
Those murdered in the incident were Garba Bello 54, his wife Habiba, 40, his 14 year-old son, Khalifa; Hafsat and Murjanatu 16 and 5 years old respectively.

Lawdermercy! Some people are cold blooded, what a flimsy excuse from the murderer, are they the most economically challenged in the country, at least the father was employed...and why do i get the feeling that the Compol is slightly sympathetic to the killer's plight...there might be more to this than meets the eye

I dont think he knows what he's talking abt.he's either under duress or he's distressed in some kind of way.everything he said just didnt match up.like ''i didnt kill my father cos he was already dead'' yet knife wounds were found on him.and again he's just 23 yrs,how can d family's responsibility be put on him if d dad dies? so he is just chatting bullcrap
Come on! It is very clear that this guy is just feeling guilty for fleeing while his family was being decimated. I mean, he probably prefers rotting in prison for the rest of his life than living with the guilt of abandoning them in the hands of their assasins.
The excuses he gave do not hold even a second! Come on! Economic situation?? My foot!
Anyways, when the other boy gets better (and he will, by the grace of God), he will confirm if he really was the author of the murders or not...

Yeah something is not right here, somebody is not telling us the whole story, there are more pieces to this and as per Davy Jones said at least his dad was employed and even if the dad was sick like he claimed is the solution killing his dad and family that is nonsense and he needs to confess everything and if he waspaid to do it he needs to tell too
Before anyone jump into conclusion something is not adding up i think some top officers or officals are blackmailing this chap!!!!!
It was not the entire family. One escaped. I also think this is blackmail like anonymous at 2.17pm. He should get a lawyer to defend him. I don't think he could have knifed them just like that unless he is a jihadist or insane.
Now really! This is a pitiful story. He killed his father and children. This guy is either mad or he's being framed.

This guy obviously needs medical attention ,its obvious he's not well maybe he suffering from some kind of post wateva trauma dats why he confessing to a crime he culdnt have commited, i mean his brothers were 14 n 16 common they wont just stand idle waiting for their turn to be butchered na, this story obviously doesnt add up, i mean is he superman, puhlease
While one hopes this is a one-off,the possibility exists that youths are being radicalized by events such as the 'Boko Horam' episodes.Fed a diet of mindless violence,is it not possible that some people might find violence an attractive form of expression?It would be unscientific to discount this possibility.Security types should be on the look-out.

I just want to believe this guy is in shock and delirious as well.
His story is YET to hold water with me, until proved beyond all doubts that he did commit the slaughtering act!

This was a boy whom they reported scaled the fence with his younger brother to avoid being killed so how come he has done a written confession to the crime. I really commend the 'intelligence' of the NigERIAN police.
SPARE US THE BULLSHIT! the police of course are hiddinh something, where is the knife? why wasnt the second son interviewed, we need forensics to jump on this case

i guess its time for us to start having psychologists because the current situation of things in this country is gradually going to make people go nuts and start turning into psychopaths. this is a classic case of "killer in the family". if you watch crime and investigation network, you'd know what i mean.
are you sure this guy was not tortured into confessing? I don't trust Nigerian police.....

We Nigerians we have a very Loooooooooooooong way to go....and thats why IDIOTS LIKE IBB has the odersity to come out and declare his intentions to attempy presidency again.....
That is why the police can bring this kind of BOGUS CONFESSION and believe that we will be convinced that they have found the killer.
Because before they should have publicly displayed their LIE...this boy should first of all has a right to a LAWYER, PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT.....and then go through the court system and UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY.....he is still INNOCENT....
...and No I am not a lawyer....just someone with COMMON SENCE.......
