Reject public funds stolen by your Husbands-Sultan advises women

The Sultan of Sokoto and President Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Saad Abubakar, advised Muslim women to fight against corruption by rejecting stolen public funds from their husbands who are public office holders. He said this in Ilorin, Kwara state capital yesterday during the formal opening of the 30th annual national conference of Federation of Muslim Women’s Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN).He also advised wives of state governors and emirs to lead the campaign for girl-child education.

The Sultan who spoke on ‘Motherhood and Leadership’ at the event  explained that, “the myriad of problems confronting the country starts from our homes.”
He said:
“If Nigeria is to see the change its citizens have been yearning for, women must start the crusade against corruption right from home. Nigerians must be ready to be the change they voted for during the last presidential election. Women must discuss corruption and ask questions from their husbands about their ill-gotten wealth especially from those who are public office holders.
“If you notice that your husbands, few months after becoming public officers, started buying exotic cars, building houses all over the place, ask questions on the source of that sudden wealth.
As women, you must add your voice to issues affecting our country, formulate policies where anyone seeking public office must listen to you even if they don’t like it”.
Abubakar stressed the need for women to ensure that they raise responsible children for the overall well-being of the society.
He said the religious and ethnic diversity which Allah had endowed the country with should be leveraged upon to move her forward.

In his key note address, Dr. AbdulRauf Wale Babalakin acknowledged the positive role mothers could play in moulding their children.

Brilliant.

I have said this time and time again.I will however add that men are also guilty. These days, you find men shamelessly accepting the luxuries provided by their partners or wives without asking questions.

Men,women, parents are okay with whatever comes into the home as long as they can partake in the comfort and social acceptance it provides. When I was growing up,you will be in big trouble should you bring home something that doesn't belong to you and this is despite coming from a very rich home.Even when I went off to high school abroad,I had to call home to get approval to buy a new outfit from my pocket money.

However these days, parents are okay with their kids bringing home luxury cars while living in terribly poor conditions so long as after a while they get theirs. And husbands don't have a problem flying first class without asking how the wife got the funds (I'm positive a large percentage of them know) and wives are very okay with their husbands illgotten wealth. They think they have made peace with God cos they seat front row in church and donate heavily.

Our clergy man (Muslims and Christians) are as guilty.A member comes from no donations to millions but we cal it blessings when we know the truth.

We can keep blaming the government but the government is run by you and I.We aren't so illiterate that we all can't tell the difference.Once upon a time, the neighborhood will shun you if your source of income is questionable. Now we hail the thieves and stone the innocents and call them names when they attempt to reform our country. We call anyone who dares to speak "hater" or we say the process is a "witch hunt".!!!

Lets keep at it ok?one day,the national cake will remain only the cardboard./base.

If Buhari is serious about fighting corruption, the first will be for him to remove all oil blocks from any individual.Nigeria is the only country where thieves are allocated the country’s natural resources in the name of oil blocks. If anything like oil block must exist, then this should be given to the states so each state will use the proceeds to develop that particular state. This will ensure that the dividends are enjoyed by all Nigerians.

How many women have ever rejected their husbands bcos they are not sure of his means of livelihoods? The man only hears about it if he dares spend it on another woman!

Hmmm muslim women should ask their husbands what??... its like a chair in your house questioning you...Becos that's how most of them see women- as property. So I think the word is, muslim men should recognise the key roles of the woman in building the soceity and they should allow their wives to have a VOICE!

You are obviously a dullard,an illiterate,a thief or all of the above.Your husband or wife brings a new model BMW home,a few months after being elected as a LG chairman and you think that's blessings from God or his salary?

I'm really really sorry for us.The Emir and his children are comfortable for life, they speak up for people like you and yet you haul insults at them.I'm very sorry for you and all those that think along the same line as you.

Please don't generalize. And are Muslim women the only ones married?Did he say only Muslim women should ask questions?our narrow mindedness and stupidity is on another level these days.

Lib readers, go through the names of people that spoke against this man and see what Nigeria is really made of. They criticise politicians that have stolen only when it suits them. They are all about money in their culture and everything they represent. Did I hear someone say they are not in support of the Emir's statement cos they don't like northerners? Well that's another of their numerous problems apart from hating the truth.
