Glo welcomes NYSC members as Lagos Orientation Camp opens

Nigeria’s National Telecommunications Carrier, Globacom has organised a night of entertainment for the Batch ‘A’ members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) posted to Lagos.

The party was held on Friday, May 8, at the NYSC Orientation Camp located at Iyana-Ipaja, marking the beginning of the 2015 Batch ‘A’ service year.

Large number of corps members turned up for the party, clad in their white sportswear and generally enjoyed themselves having photo opportunities with Glo ambassadors. The party kicked off at 7 p.m. and lasted till about 10pm, shortly before the light out.

Globacom’s Group Business Director, Kunle Akanmu, in his welcome address said that the company was delighted to be part of the corps members’ orientation camp activities and that the party was aimed at celebrating the beginning of their service year which it believed, would be successful and rewarding.

“As the 2015 NYSC Batch ‘A’ service year begins, we urge you to be good ambassadors of your various institutions and brace yourselves up for the challenges ahead. At Globacom, we believe that the youth are the future leaders of this great nation, and we are optimistic that, with the training you have received in your schools, you will make the nation proud in your various places of primary assignment,” Akanmu said.

Celebrities who graced the event include Glo Ambassador and accomplished standup comic, Basketmouth, who anchored the event and Hip-hop super star, Wande Coal, who thrilled the audience with the performance of his hits songs. His performance was one of the highpoints of the night.

To spice the night, there were a number of competitions during which the Corps members won various items.  Indeed, the dancing competition generated much excitement among the corps members. Jesse Akinwande won the first prize of a Samsung Ace 4 handset plus 2,000 Glo airtime; Chioma Charles was runner up, while Chibueze Udechukwu was second runner-up.  They all smile to their rooms with quality prizes.

Befii Tekor, a corp member at the event thanked Globacom for the party. “It was really thoughtful of Globacom to have such an event at the Orientation Camp. It created an opportunity for bonding of corps members, especially at the beginning of camp activities,” she enthused.

This is why people do all sorts of things to serve in lagos,if they mean well for corpers why not go to all the camps in the country?so if one doesn't serve in lagos he isn't worth having fun with? Nonsense.

Abeg make Glo go sit down for corner. Watin them dey do for their staff? I heard they sack good hardworking and innocent staff unjustly anyhow and they don't treat the lower staff well. Welfare in Glo is zero but they like to show off outside. Charity begins at home

How do u expect Glo to go to all NYSC camp around the whole Nigeria? Are they federal government? Abi you wan finish their money? If you are unfortunate to be serving in Lagos, na your luck be that. It doesnt concern them.
