Cancer patient Funmi Lawal dies

I'm sure you all remember her. Funmi Lawal is the UNILAG law graduate who was diagnosed with malignant sarcoma, a kind of cancer at the shoulder region, who we raised money for on LIB last year. She's the same lady music producer, Don Jazzy donated N2million to. You can read more about her HERE, HERE and HERE

Funmi's left arm had to be amputated in January 2013 to save her life...unfortunately she still didn't make it. She died this morning at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital. The cancer had spread to her lungs and she had completely lost the ability to breathe without a respirator. May her soul rest in peace...amen.

Late Gani Fawehinmi of blessed memory, once said that every disease here in Nigeria is a terminal one, due to lack of good and working medical system. May her soul rest in peace.

This is too sad. Nigeria is one of the worst for medical treatment due to lack of equipments and medication.

Banky W told journalists that he had cancer twice in his shoulders and it was removed in the US. He is alive today. people get it once and they die Nigeria. O ma se o! RIP!

In Nigeria, we don't have the culture of being written letters that says that your doctor needs to see you for a check up because nobody cares.

Nigerians, in this age of information and technology, ignorance really is a choice. There exists an effective way of preventing build up of cancerous cells without resorting to expensive treatments that wud drain u economically and still let you die. The only problem is that these large pharmaceutical corporations wont let the public become aware of it so that they maintain their stream of income. I would suggest that we all take some time out to read up on the terms "ORGONE ENERGY", "ORGONE ACCUMULATOR", "WILHELM REICH", "CLOUD BUSTER". PLEASE LINDA POST THIS FOR THE GOOD OF OUR PEOPLE

All these synagogue pple.... A lot of people have posted complaints online about how their family members were deceived by your pastor that they were healed of cancer and they stopped taking their medications only to die of the disease.

Pls Google is your friend. It's not fiction, find out for yourself.

It's so so sad, that a promising young lady like her is gone so soon at the prime of her life. Where is this darned country Nigeria going? We do not even have CAT SCAN MACHINES in the country? This country Nigeria is getting worse by the day. If she has done a scan and biopsy in the earlier, and started chemotherapy, shrunk the tumor and they might have saved her life. Judging from the story, she waited too long and it spread all over. She had Osteosarcoma, also known as osteogenic sarcoma, is the most common type of bone cancer and typically starts in bone cells in the arms, legs or pelvis. It occurs most frequently in individuals between the ages of 10 and 30, and is more common in males than females, had gone too far, judging from the last picture up here, it was in its last stages and it already affected the use of that arm and when diagnosed with any form of cancer, after a biopsy or scan , the next form of treatment would be to remove the cancerous cyst and start chemotherapy immediately! And stunt or completely stop the cancer, and do regular testing to see the progress, but trusting our country Nigeria, nobody cares, it's all good when the pain is gone.
I am studying medicine and have taken care of patients that were worse of and they are doing great today. Nigerian government have to build a healthcare system were everyone had an opportunity to get healthcare. In the USA, we pay monthly for health insurance, even when you are fine, it's a monthly thing, there are different types, u choose what plan you want, i.e, I pay $700/month for mine, I had ankle surgery in June of last year with a metal spring and screws in my ankle, the surgery cost $49,000, but all I had to pay out was $4,000 out of my pocket and the insurance covered the rest. This is the benefit of having insurance here. For those that do not have insurance, they still get treated, they never get refused, they get on a payment plan or just let you go, but of course, we the tax payers pay one way or the other for those people.
We must adopt a system of health insurance in Nigeria, where people can get the kind of treatment they need, instead of begging for money to get treatment, then by the time they get the money, it's too late. We have to adopt the habit of going for full check up, at the beginning of every year, especially women, even when you feel good, most times its always at a late stage before we get help. The nigerian government has to wake up, needs to establish even if its 1 specialist hospital in the entire country, just for cancer treatment, that would be enough, instead they steal and hide money elsewhere for their selfish needs. It's so sad, the country is really going to the dogs! God save Nigeria.
Rest in peace lady, gone too soon.
