"Don't support the gays" Malawi president

Malawi president and Africa Union Chairman, Bingu wa Mutharika, is speaking out, saying donors to the country should focus on children's rights instead of fighting for gay rights.

During the African Child commemoration, Mutharika said:
“The role of protecting children is for everyone. I want religious leaders and civil society groups to speak on the rights of children, not a man marrying a man. Donors should stop assisting confused people (gays). Why fight for gay rights instead of children’s rights?”*

Well...I still don't think anyone should be sentenced to 14yrs in prison because of their sexual preference. There are worst offences....
Just saying...

My opinion on the lifestyle is one I will not discuss. I support the man in a way. I do not support throwing anyone in jail for 14yrs for claiming homosexuality or lesbianism but I appreciate the there is still friction about the lifestyle.

what two consenting adults decide to do it in the confines of their bedroom is not the States business, or any other persons business.Let Malawi and other people who hate Gay people so much concentrate on fixing their country and their lives respectively. How does it affect your life if a girl is sleeping with another girl?are they doing it on your bed ni?

I am grateful that i am not gay and i do not have to deal with discrimination from folks, but leave those that are alone....who decided what the norm is?

African countries have no priorities. there is still a lot to be fixed and this guy is worried about confused individuals. we should be throwing him in jail for the state his country is in.

That's a good question first of all why is he taking any donation from foreigners anyway. why can't he answer the simple question " why can't 80% of malawian feed themselves ". other struggling african nations can at least cover the very basic thing FOOD.

Britain never donates cash for free.there is something thay they need in return.

lastly.the problem is not whether or not one support gay issues. They represent a mere 1% of the population, I don't care that they do in private. He should learn how to prioritize problems. if he doesn't want to be told what to do then he should run this part of africa without international handouts.

Mschew to the president. Useless guy dat cannot run a country talking about gay rights and stuff. he better be grateful that there are still gay people in his country causing people to have mercy on malawi and send some cash donations, let him wait till oyinbo people evacuate all of them finish...I hear malawi gay guys are good sha! maybe I'll import one sometimes soon! Nonsense.

to me, whatever anyone does with their genitals is strictly none of my business. all i care about is that things are done but to be honest, I'm yet to come to terms with the fact that someone can be gay...I've got no gay friends and seriously i don't think i'm ready to have any yet...just being honest.

on this issue of the president saying that they should support child rights...to me he is stupid. does he need people to support him before he does anything...that's why he is the fucking president. in Africa there is no such thing as democracy...its autocracy (except in some places...minute that is)
he has failed as a president in making sure that his country is a force to be reckoned with and by the way why is he arguing with THEM anyway?
argh...... what a loser.
