Chinua Achebe is one of the best known African writers in the West. His novels are usually assigned in university courses.Soyinya is good, but all his books put together is nothing near the least of Achebe's books.Simply put, Wole Soyinka's books are boorrrrrrrrriiiiing.I just couldn't stand them in secondary school!

Achebe is a great writer but Soyinka is, well, Soyinka.

Hey Linda, what's up? Here I am o!
This is a very difficult question. I think the crown should be split into two and given to each of them. Both authors stand out in their respective rights and I wouldn't give up one for the other... although presently Wole Soyinka is more visible because of his political involvements & views. I've read stuff from both of them. I think Wole Soyinka is known more for his plays (The Lion and the Jewel - hilarious play) while Chinua is more into novels (No longer @ ease - The Obi Series!). They're both well rounded writers and I'll give anything to have 30 minutes of discussion and learning with either of them. Great compilation as usual, Linda. Keep it up.
