Turkish Airlines staff, Selim Tartan assaults Nigerian female traveler
According to the victim @addictbypawprint, this happened in Instanbul today. And right is the man she captured on camera trying to take her phone. Below is what she wrote,
"I checked in and my boarding pass said I was on stand by.
The guy who checked me in told me to go and wait at the gate that I
might be lucky to fly. I asked him why I was not informed as I bought a
confirmed ticket that I needed to see the manager. Then the manager
comes and said I should go and check the website for the terms of
Turkish airline because a confirmed ticket did not mean I would
definitely get a seat on the flight.
I then asked for him to show me where that was stated on my
ticket. Then the guy said I should stand there and keep asking.
Meanwhile, there was a family of 5 who had the same problem and we all
were displeased so I started taking a video of how he spoke as it was an
extremely bad service.
The rest of it was assault. When we got to the boarding
gate, 15 people had standby boarding passes. Some passengers had bought
their tickets since May. Turkish airline sold seats that had already
been paid for and then offered us 300euro compensation.
Before I started with the video, I asked him for his name.
He went as far as writing it down for me that I should take this to any
where I wanted. Btw, he called the #turkishpolis, when the police saw
the video. They asked us to go to the airport management because Turkish
Airlines is a big company in the country and there was nothing they
could do. They asked us to delete the video but we declined. Airport mgt
did not even listen to us. They asked us to go back to Turkish
airline."
All these airline staff can be very rude. They think they are doing us big favors, meanwhile it's the other way round .The same way some of Emirates staff talk to some people. One man kinda got separated from his family after they confirmed his family tickets and as he was trying to explain to the lady, she rudely asked him what he was doing when they passed .I just shook my head. I no even blame them .
I now see that I need to praise Nigeria more. Business is booming big time for them, so arrogance has set in. But sadly, it is not just arrogance, theft is part of it - double ticket sales. Disrespect because we foolishly go to boost their economy buying clothes from them.

The same way they dupe my wife and children who are on transit at instanbul to Rome. They keep on changing their gate up five times until they didn't announce the departure gate. A lot of passengers miss that flight which was the last flight and they collected €210euro from each passenger to book them for next day flight.This is the way for their down fall.

Well, unfortunately this is a relatively common thing among airlines- they often overbook people onto their flights hoping that some travellers will not show up or will miss their flights- at least Turkish airlines offered you €300 compensation!
Linda I can relate to this, Turkey is such a beautiful country but the people are so horrible to foreigners , everyoff, the hotel wanted to keep our $1000 deposit, the concierge will always inflate prices when you send them to buy you things. The taxi guys are worse , they will completely rip you off. And the entire process at the airport is draining and not a nice experience , worse part is they ensure you never get your tax free back, I had to board my flight without getting my $500 VAT back and on top of that everyone was ride from airline staff to the immigration officers, such a beautiful place but I doubt I will ever want to spend money and go back there.

This is typical of Turkish airline. I also got this type of horrible treatment on transit newyork to Istanbul. Very rude lot. I had to part with extra 600$ to get on the flight the next day. Wicked horrible people!

We travelled together along with my sister 2013 to turkey via emirates, we didnt know we needed one type of visa like dt.. But the visa we got was diffrnt frm the one we needed.. Loooool! Don't go too far, First bank Yaba has some really bad customer service officers too. The light skinned customer service guy that hissed at me is just one of them. The others act like they'd rather be some place else than attend to u.

I thought they were just racist but on close observation I realised that is how they treat themselves. They are just naturally brash. But if you go to their shops to buy stuff they are the sweetest because they want your dollars. There is really nothing you can do that's why he gave you his name. It's normal behaviour to them. Even the turkish police are extremely rude. It was a huge shock for me the first time because I was coming from the UK where everyone is extremely polite, the police the airport staff, the staff at the till machine , the people on the streets you ask for directions and so on. What that guy did to the lady is normal behaviour and there is nothing she can do
I think Emirates and Etihad should be boycotted as well. The number of Nigerians in their employ is less than 1% and I can't begin to describe the discrimination against Nigerians in their employ. No Nigerian will rise past a certain level in their coy. Despite operating as much as 4 flights daily from Lagos. Any Nigerian will never pass through a the first stage screening with them except he's applying with a UK or US passport. They need to be made to take NIGERIANS seriously. This incidence has put me off Turkish Airline I admire from afar and has been looking forward to use. Emirates Staff are better. I have also never experience disservice from Etihad or Qatar Airlines. But come to think of it Arik is worst of.
just yesterday this happened to my mum. she booked her flight for Wednesday afternoon, only to get to the airport on Wednesday and she was told that she missed her flight that she was suppose to fly on Tuesday afternoon not Wednesday.she challenged Arik o, which drew peoples attention and she was asked to pay additional 15k. Imagine!

Ok the Turkish from experience of dealing with them and observations are short-tempered, rude and Racist. In LONDON, mean North London, they are many and think they are gangsters. Their young people are wannabe black people listening to rap songs , talking like blacks even walk like one. They are rude and do not respect black people. You go into their shops to buy stuff and they dont show the courtesy of looking you in the face when giving you your change. Its like "I didn't ask you to come in here to buy". I dont patronise them with my money any more. I will look for the nearest black shop to buy stuff. Most black people in London have woken up to see their hatred and are starting to boycott them as well. I will walk to an Indian corner shop before I buy from a Turkish man. Driving- well this is where they annoy the most. Dont respect road rules, obnoxious, and aggressive. You get a Turkish boy talking down on his own mother because he feels he is the man of the house (obviously this trait has been passed down by their fathers). So not surprised that the Nigerian lady who was harrassed by the Airline staff experienced such at the hands of these nasty people. Word of advise dont go to Turkey for anything. Nigeria likewise should consider its diplomatic ties with countries like these. They come to Nigeria with wide grin and fake friendship looking for investment opportunities and oil deals but deep inside they are full of hate. Hopefully very soon Nigeria will put its house in order and have its own fleet of Aircraft, a national carrier.
Until Nigerians realize theower they have as customers and start boycotting companies with shitty services all I can say is pele. They whine and complain about DSTV yet can't leave them alone. Won't be surprised if this lady flies this same airline tomorrow.
Turkish airline personnel are naturally very rude especially when they get to their Antrak airport. They also almost slapped a Kenyan passenger travelling to Nairobi last year July right in my presence over a minor disagreement. When they guy started replying them back that they started calling airport security. The lady in question should not take it likely. Make a formal report to the Consumer Protection Agency, Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority and if possible Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Remember it was in the same Antrak airport that they maltreated and destroyed a Nigerian student passport travelling on Egypt Air. You are delayed in their over crowded airport, the best you can get is a $10 equivalent meal voucher for food.
Very simple...Never buy their ticket again...and also, continue to splash the story and the image online...If you keep doing it everyday and on all social media you are on, trust me, they will get the message and importantly, others will get the message too...

just yesterday this happened to my mum. she booked her flight for Wednesday afternoon, only to get to the airport on Wednesday and she was told that she missed her flight that she was suppose to fly on Tuesday afternoon not Wednesday.she challenged Arik o, which drew peoples attention and she was asked to pay additional 15k. Imagine!
I hate that turkish airline so much....they re always rude when dey meet nigerians....I noticed d way dey treat passengers flyn from lagos to turkey is very different from d way dey treat passengers flying from us to turkey....

Ok the Turkish from experience of dealing with them and observations are short-tempered, rude and Racist.
In LONDON, mean North London, they are many and think they are gangsters. Their young people are wannabe black people listening to rap songs , talking like blacks even walk like one.
They are rude and do not respect black people. You go into their shops to buy stuff and they dont show the courtesy of looking you in the face when giving you your change. Its like "I didn't ask you to come in here to buy". I dont patronise them with my money any more. I will look for the nearest black shop to buy stuff. Most black people in London have woken up to see their hatred and are starting to boycott them as well. I will walk to an Indian corner shop before I buy from a Turkish man.
Driving- well this is where they annoy the most. Dont respect road rules, obnoxious, and aggressive.
You get a Turkish boy talking down on his own mother because he feels he is the man of the house (obviously this trait has been passed down by their fathers).
So not surprised that the Nigerian lady who was harrassed by the Airline staff experienced such at the hands of these nasty people. Word of advise dont go to Turkey for anything.
Nigeria likewise should consider its diplomatic ties with countries like these. They come to Nigeria with wide grin and fake friendship looking for investment opportunities and oil deals but deep inside they are full of hate.
Hopefully very soon Nigeria will put its house in order and have its own fleet of Aircraft, a national carrier.
Until Nigerians realize theower they have as customers and start boycotting companies with shitty services all I can say is pele. They whine and complain about DSTV yet can't leave them alone. Won't be surprised if this lady flies this same airline tomorrow.
Turkish airline personnel are naturally very rude especially when they get to their Antrak airport. They also almost slapped a Kenyan passenger travelling to Nairobi last year July right in my presence over a minor disagreement. When they guy started replying them back that they started calling airport security. The lady in question should not take it likely. Make a formal report to the Consumer Protection Agency, Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority and if possible Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Remember it was in the same Antrak airport that they maltreated and destroyed a Nigerian student passport travelling on Egypt Air. You are delayed in their over crowded airport, the best you can get is a $10 equivalent meal voucher for food.

Very simple...Never buy their ticket again...and also, continue to splash the story and the image online...If you keep doing it everyday and on all social media you are on, trust me, they will get the message and importantly, others will get the message too...
