The allowance is reportedly 10 percent of the annual basic salary of the legislators as stipulated in the remuneration package for political, public and judicial office holders in Nigeria by the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).
Unlike the three other recesses that they have embarked upon, the current recess is their statutory annual holiday. The report also states that the National Assembly members have been paid their accommodation allowance as well as what is tagged 28 days allowance.

This country is doomed!!! By the heartless and murderous acts of our elected senators and reps!
Why won't they be getting tuber of yam for necks and pumpkin for tummy when they are keep getting paid for doing nothing.Until Buhari makes those positions unattractive, total eradication of corruption would be a very herculean task if not impossible. Alot is wrong with our constitution. Some sections deserve amendment
A poor man will work his ass 8-10 hrs a day for 6months without getting paid, while another man is receiving jumbo allowance for sleeping @ home, eating like his ancestors and gallivanting all over the globe. It's unfair!
I see
>>> these individuals are the major group killing this country.....they have not really had any meaningful delibration since both chambers were inaugurated, yet see how much they go home with.....
They are always sharing money, Even when the treasury is empty..

Probing dis, probing dat...pple wey still dey chop..still dey chop! God pls help us.
WE KNOW OUR PROBLEM. THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY IS THE PROBLEM OF THIS DEMOCRACY. THEY ARE IDLE AND HAVE BECOME THE DEVIL'S WORKMEN AND WORKWOMEN. LET THEM BE SUBSTITUTED WITH ELECTED MINISTERS.
SCRAP THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY AND HAVE MINISTERS ELECTED TO WORK DIRECTLY WITH THE PRESIDENT FOR EQUAL TENURE. REMOVE THE PRESIDENTS POWER TO APPOINT OR REMOVE THEM BUT LET THEM OPERATE UNDER CERTAIN RULES THAT WILL MAKE THEM IMPEACHABLE BY THE NATIONAL JUDICIARY COMMISSION.

What a country! Yet salary are being owed to those who r actually working. Can't we all march and protest again these outrageous money being given to these lazy men? For how long will this go on? Rather we celebrate them in magazines! Hmmm!
These guys are just getting paid for doing NOTHING!!
The group of touts sucking his nation dry
The group of touts sucking his nation dry
Corrupt men!!

Nigeria legislature should be made part time
Nde ochi I'm happy I left 9ja long time ago.
Thieves
it is well
all this complain will not take us anywhere therefore let all of us think of how to plan a massive protest because without that, the criminals will nerve listen.

I wonder what they r paid for...
If Buhari is presiding over this daylight robbery in the name of allowances why does he bother with probing Jonathan? This is not the change we were promised!
Do you ppl expect them to work for free so make dem nor collect any allowance.
I hope you mean they all shared N93m.
For doing absolutely nothing.
Na today feather cover fowl yansh? Nigerians will complain about the pay and continue with life..a handful of ppl will be getting the pay that's more than the allocation of lots of states in the country and nigerians will be suffering and smiling...bcos the truth of the matter is that the major of us are criminals and will do same or worse when they are that position so they don't want the status quo to change..
This is the first corruption the president should tackle. Improper use of public funds while the masses are impoverished.
@helen you r on the track and until we stop celebrating them things will continue to get worse. Shepherds that feed on their flocks. Where is the acclaimed "CHANGE". Civil servants are being owed salaries whereas allowances are paid to the political leaders coupled with their salaries. I pray that God Almighty will arrest them spiritually as He did to Apostle Paul.
And Nigeria Wept!
Ndi oshi since 1960
This is the kind of things you read you hate Nigeria the more.
Pathetic
Chai! Is paining me seriously
Thatz d changeless change. Apc Shld jst get out
Well said Helen. Look our most of our youths....ranting only on social media without physical action and when one decides to stand and expect them to support the protest....majority will tell u they don't want to die young that they rather hustle...... and I ask hustle for how long n to where??? It's a pity tho
SMH..What a waste….SMH..
Is this the change??
They work, they don't work we still pay them? God have mercy
Lol. Your grammar just reminded me of my grandma!
'Bankruptcy' indeed.
Imagine allowance for doing nothing, we have serious problems in dis country abeg. We are so so so far away in our journey of abolishing corruption
OMG!
No wonder d rich keep on getting richer and d poor getting poorer in Nigeria.
We all in dis blog need to do something about this senators we need to hold a massive protest against this people. Becos we cannot continue to talk here without backing it without no action nd meanwhile many people can not eat 3 square meal a day. Many people re living in poverty in Nigeria, how long re we going to be watching this people looting Nigerian money in this country? Enough is enough. We need to protest against those senators nd house of reps, becos I don't believe those senators nd house of resp mean well for Nigeria.
@OSINANL---- I'm finding it difficult to breath....uh....uh... I just died! What the fuck?? "---go bankruptcy"!!!
I strongly support the call for a protest! We can't continue like this.
i really hate these people. I wish a serious catastrophe would happen to then when they are gathered for one of their meetings.

1 To set new standard in governance. Where you and me say what we want via petitions to our Government. Even the Senate President is just another Nigerian like you and me. 180 million of us have more Lawyers than them in the House of Assembly to represent us on the final day of judgement. Please Lawyers out there register your interest to defend 180 million Nigerians.
2. To avoid Nigeria getting ruled by the types of leadership of the past. You know what they can do now.
3. To stop all activities of the National Assembly members and put in new process and ways of genuinely representing Nigeria.
4. To have the correct numbers of people doing the work of the National Assembly. At present the number of the people working in our Nation Assembly is a joke.
5. To take back the power of the people. We have the right to determine our future. We have better and more capable Legal practitioners than them. They will represent us for free.
6. This petition sets a precedence to many more where people will come together and take peaceful and meaningful action to correct the Government of Nigeria.
7. An opportunity to have our voices count just like in the UK and USA.
180 million of us can't be silent against 2000+ National Assembly members anymore. We have the numbers on our side, so let's speak-up.
Nigeria Earns N2.5trn From Petroleum Products Export In 3 Months. This is after falling price and lower level of sales, so you can imagine what has been going on in our Nigeria.
The Senators have just collected N12Bn in two months doing nothing. Are we just going to stay silent and complain to one another or take a few seconds to make meaningful changes with petitions? It has to become a way of life in Nigeria. Entrenched in the law of our Nation should be our voices through petitions. Balancing the power of the ruler and the ruled.
