Radisson Blu Confirms Renovation Activities Underway

Anchorage Leisures Limited, owners of the Radisson Blu Anchorage Hotel, Victoria Island, have confirmed that renovation activities at the hotel are about to commence.

The Management of the company also confirmed that its present focus is to ensure that the renovation activities are conducted to time and quality specifications so the hotel can resume operations as soon as possible. In a press release to present update on activities, Anchorage Leisures Limited said that all pre-renovation planning activities have been concluded successfully and implementation will commence immediately.

“We have successfully relocated guests into alternative facilities and all entitlements have been paid to disengaged staff”, the statement added. Commenting on protests by some members of staff, the company noted that, staff who protested must have misconstrued the intention of Management.

The statement reiterated that the hotel temporarily shut down business operations strictly because of the magnitude of the renovation and not because Management had issues with members of staff as wrongly insinuated.

The press release again noted that “given the company’s strict adherence to global health and safety standards, it would be wrong to have retained guests and staff on the premises while conducting the magnitude of renovations underway.” Finally, the statement maintained that the utmost objective of the Management of Anchorage Leisures Limited is to follow through with the renovation of its facilities as well as critical equipment so that the hotel can re-open to guests with increased focus on delivery of superior quality hospitality services in the shortest possible time.

Don't really think shutting down your whole operation is good for business

Total bull.. They staged a renovation when the real issue they're dealing with is the workers who are striking.

Perhaps, it is important to separate the wheat from the chaff. It could be a mere coincidence that this protests started when the hotel decided to renovate, it is a possibility

BIG LIE !! THE WORKERS ARE ON STRIKE DUE TO POOR SALARIES, THIS RENOVATION GIST IS A COVER UP.

Radisson Blu has actually made itself a model. According to statement in Vanguard by one of the staff memebers, they were paid two months salary for the abrupt shutdown of business.

Good. it is commendable that they decided to start this up and they have already concluded plans. At this pace, they will re-open in no time! Looking forward to it

A word to job seekers:

Please do not be in a haste to accept jobs. review your contracts, know your privileges, negotiate your pay because once you sign the dotted line, you are committed to you or the employer decided otherwise. However, while the contract is signed and enforceable, you are obligated to compromise. Gbam!

Corporate twists!

Pray tell, where is the truth in stories making the rounds that staff of Radisson Blu went on strike.

Could that be why the place was hurriedly shut down without notice?

Just wondering why two police hi-lux vans would be stationed outside a hotel locked for renovation purposes?

Yet the people who came out to demonstrate at the entrance of the hotel don't know what they are doing or as been said by the management "the company noted that, staff who protested must have misconstrued the intention of Management"......hmmm it is well.....

I feel sorry for the staffers. They really should have unionised since, instead of spending time murmuring

Tintin said...

The truth is the employees have no stake in that Hotel. They agreed to a certain amount as pay and they are given that for their work, I really cant understand what the protest is for, instead of them to go and find negotiator

Surulere said...

Lets even say the staff members are right, is protesting and making Radisson Blu lose client and client loyalty going to now get them a huge paycheck? Already, someone in the comment thread is saying s/he will no longer be loyal. Shior! this is a typical cut-your-nose-to-spit-your-face bull...

CONCOCTED WHITE LIES!!!! How old is Radisson Blu in the 1st place to want to undergo exclusive and comprehensive renovation. This is pure mgt-staff fracas, we all know so STOP these LIES!!!

Anonymous said...

Like the management said I believe the purpose of renovation is being misinterpreted by the staff...I hope they can come to an amicable resolution.

The observer said...

Considering the amount of media lashing that Radisson has gotten in the past couple of days, their consistent statement to the press show they care. Most companies dont do these, perhaps we should give them the benefit of the doubt.

Cut this people some slack! No one in Nihgeria actually pays their staff for a month they havent worked. Many of us see these things almost on a daily basis. Instead of spending all your energy protesting, better channel some of the energy and money towards regorous job search
