Who has read that letter Madonna sent to the president of Malawi?

Madonna, who's currently in Malawi to visit the schools she funded, sent a letter to Malawi president, Joyce Banda, asking to meet her. The letter made the president mad. To understand why, you have to read the letter yourself. Find it after the cut...

The letter was written on rough paper and was riddled with misspellings. President Banda blasted Madonna, claiming that the 54year old pop star reneged on her promise to build a $15 million academy for girls. They say she's only building classrooms and not entire schools.

Why cnt that woman be addresed by her first name??or she just wan flex muscle wey she no get, why didn't she use that ego and build schools in het country so that sum foreigner wunt have opportunity to adress her by her first name or write to her wit some torn and tired paper... She shud be ashamed of her self that she is fiting wit sumone who out of service for humanity is building schools which is suppose to be the responsibility of her failed government or dnt she know she is a failure.. She is looking for formal.letter in an informal country lik malawi.. Pls where is malawi in world map, I can't see it. That image was scanned and edited to look that way. By the way, Madonna just wanted to be friendly. OK I now know your problem, Most of you should work on your Reading skills........

That was disrespectful, the paper and all. Also, the president should have taken the promise at face value until it was fulfilled. Please check obinnaenemuo.blogspot.com and comment. Thanks.

It doesn't matter if she's building universities, it's charity n it's not the president's kid dat will benefit. It's her own way of giving back to society. Respect has to Be given to whom respect is due. Why use such rumpled n torn paper? It's like someone coming to ur hse to say I will give u gist bcos am paying sch fees for ur kids. Madam can send her kids abroad to sch in d best schs so she stands to loose nothing, but Madonna must respect her office.

I wouldn't wipe my arse with a rough paper like that.Let alone shot put am go give president.

To do charity no be by force oooh! I don't really get it when Madam President or anybody for that matter should blast Madonna for not building what She promised. but at least She is gradually putting structures on ground. So why all the fuss about Madonna reneging on her promise?

LMBAO! LOL! She's complaining that Madonna didn't build a school?! LMAO SERIOUSLY?! On another note though Madonna is high. Unless this was a personal note (which doesn't seem to be the case)it's highly disrespectful to address a president of a country by her first name no matter how small the country is. Is she daft or what? And she doesn't have paper? Anyway it's not her fault. They've been allowing her access like she owns the country LOL. Like she can get away with calling her own president 'Barack' on fullscap paper *hiss*

the president cannot force madonna to develop her country because it's not her job nor her responsibility, if madonna promised to build a school and she built classrooms i think the people of malawi should be grateful at least she did something. the president of malawi should develop her country and stop relying on foreigners to help. madonna should have typed the letter sha

She should have at least addressed the woman as Madam President! She could have found a clean sheet of paper from the fancy hotel that I'm sure she was staying at to write a note to the lady and write it properly! This is the problem with Americans in general, they lack respect. This woman is the head of state, a married woman and mother, she could have give her that due respect.

@ Anonymous 12.42 - No, you need to take SEVERAL seats your damnself! IF Madonna promised to do something for the country which by all accounts is one of the poorest countries in Africa and hasn't not fulfilled her promise; the president has every right to be angry. The children that are giving her much joy and that she is flaunting in America as her act of benevelous, are they not Malawians? Well then she can do something for the country that made her a mother for the 3rd and 4time. You are talking as if you haven't been annoyed at someone who has promised to do something and didnt' do it. Well, guess what sweetie, to whom much is given, MUCH IS EXPECTED. Shikena!

wow, am just thinking, ur excellency Joyce or honourable joyce or dear president mrs joyce?
its just our african mentality tho. cos i dont see anything wrong with the letter, its obviously an informal 1, hence d first name thingy. if your friend/relative ws a president, and you wr to write him/her a PERSONAL leta, wld u observe protocol? we just need to chill as africans and focus on pressing issues rada than castigate sm1 trying to help a sori place like malawi

CYNTHIA YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT... AS MY EYES SMALL REACH I CANNOT SEE ANY INSULT ASWELL... PLEASE, MAKE MADONNA TRY CUM NAIJA HELP US ABEG.

Good intentions, but she's a president... Respect is shown nt written.

I honestly do not see anything wrong with the letter. She seemed to be writing to an old friend. I guess Madonna misjudged the nature of their relationship.

What is it? A spoof? Parody? Funny story? Madonna needs to be tickled on an exclusive post. Lol.

Firstly, that is not a rough piece of paper. As far as I can see that letter was written on her own personal stationery in her handwriting. What makes it look rough is because it’s being scanned poorly. In other parts of the world writing a letter in longhand is recognized as being very respectful as it shows that you didn’t delegate the task.
Another thing I’d like to point out is that the average person’s spelling skills has steadily declined since the advent of the computer and the now ubiquitous auto-correct. If you think I’m lying try writing a letter off the cuff in long hand and see how many iterations you have to go through before it’s fit for public consumption.

Shikena.

a hand written note says a lot more than a computer typed letter! And why did the letter get to the president if it was unfit, she no get aides?

I believe madonna is taking her for a personal friend, which to me is cool. All I see here is that the lady is just proud, more so she is acting like an illitrate. She unfair to mandonn she really is.Maddona is also a very old lady does she think the age difference between she and madonna is much. She should be greatful, not cool.

Point of correction to everyone who says the President should be appreciative...
First of all, Madonna will never write such an untidy letter to the president of the USA; that shows disrespect for an African President.
Secondly, people in developed nations are aware that they are more privileged than people in less developed nations; therefore, from time-to-time we require assistance from wealthy people in such nations. But that does not give any of them the right to claim that they donated more than they actually donated. If you donate a pencil and you claim you donated a pack of pens then you have done wrong and deserve to be reprimanded.
Finally, we all know that these celebrities use their donations as publicity stunts if not we will not hear about the donations. THE NIGERIAN JEWELER.

if you do not know the story do not comment, she deserves to be angry, she has contributed millions of dollars to build schools in Malawi only to find out, the funds where stolen no schools were built.

Bullshit..... Give respect where it i. Why is she addressing the Pres by her first name? Were they in primary school together? Nonsense
