37year African refugee from the Congo, Kalunga Kanyela, was arrested in Las Vegas after his wife caught him molesting a 10-year-old relative. He's accused of assaulting three young female relatives total, one of them is only 6-years-old. Hospital officials have confirmed the girls were sexually abused. The three victims say they were forced to have intercourse and other inappropriate sexual acts with Kanyela. They also said the abuse started prior to the family fleeing the Congo.
Kanyela now claims he didn’t know touching a child sexually was a crime in America since it is acceptable in Africa.
This guy needs to be shot. What kind of bullshit talk is that?
In what part of Africa is it acceptable? Oh yes, we have the Yerima case in Nigeria...but it's totally unacceptable to us. Totally!

In Africa, people may hush a sexually abused person especially if it is a family member that committed the atrocious act, we don't go on Oprah or Dr. Phil or write books about sexual abuse because of the shame it would bring on the family name BUT WE DO NOT THINK IT ACCEPTABLE! Sexual abuse (of children, women and disadvantaged men) is often swept under the rug in most of the continent and dealt with privately not criminally, making it seem acceptable on some level. If it were truly unacceptable by Africans, certain things wouldn't be the norm, like financial compensation over criminal prosecution or maintaining a public position, while breaking the law.

We doing a serious campaign on this child defilement case now and its good to hear that several parties are ready to fight it. We in court and seeking justice and hoping the case we have will serve as a warning to the many paedphile walkin the streets in Naij. In Lag,its a teacher who assaulted a colleagues daughter,as we speak,the proprietor wouldnt give info! as bad as it sounds, he is right. in Most African countries it is their culture and tradition to engage and marry with underage girls, although they don't view them as "underage" or like its anything bad, because thats all they know. its how their culture is.
and of course with the way Africa is moving these days, such are seen as wrong an people's mindset are changing.
Gone are the days when most people lived up to 40-45 at the most and that was considered old. so most girls got married by 14 usually and start baring children not too long after that. but yes, gone are those days.

This thing has been on for decades. "Senator" Yerima's exposure was one of the few that made headlines and think of it as being done leagally, marriage i mean.
Lots of kids are molested and live with the molester. Imagine having to see the human being & unable to do anything.
Some kids don't even know that it's wrong for someone to touch them that way.
