Someone I know is ending her marriage of 7 years, two kids, because her husband is seeing another woman.
I know infidelity is a good reason to end a marriage, but is it enough reason to call it quits after so many years and children together?
If a man is taking care of you physically, emotionally, financially and everything that has 'lly' at the end...lol, respects, loves and cares for you and your kids, is it ok to divorce him because he's unfaithful? Because the bitter truth is that most of them are...especially in this part of the world.
Call me stupid, crazy, foolish, immature or whatever, but I don't know if I can end a marriage because of infidelity. I feel negligence is a better reason to walk away. You know, when you no longer exist to him...or when you don't love him anymore, then it's ok to move on but infidelity? I don't know mehn...but then again it depends on the severity of it. You know some men don't have any control...and they batter a woman's soul so badly she can't take it anymore. When it's very extreme, then it's ok to leave but otherwise? Like when he's very discreet and does it few and far in between?
Please don't get me wrong, I think infidelity is so so wrong and unfair, but then again life itself isn't always fair, so what do you do? I mean I can walk away from a relationship because of infidelity...I did it...but only after giving too many chances and I only walked away when I realised it will never stop. But that was a relationship not marriage. Nothing binds you in a relationship, but God binds you in a marriage. I think marriage is too serious to give up on too easily. If you stand in front of God and promise to be with a man for better, for worse, shouldn't you stay for better, for worse? Because of God, your love, the years together, your children?
Our mothers stayed with our fathers, are we saying our fathers never cheated?
Maybe I'm talking nonsense, maybe I need to be educated, what do you guys think? I'm sure I am going to get a lot of bashing for this...bring it on...lol.

I was reiterating the fact that chameleon and ED are not close cos i remember she left just one simple comment on ED's blog once and it was obvious that they didn't know each other. Chameleon didn't say that she hasn't read ED's blog. She said that herself and ED are not pals.

@ ANON U KNOW WHO: That was totally unecessary. Just know that the way you are slating and judging chameleon is the same way that God would judge you. She never called you names, even after you insulted her previously.
I'm not a pastor, but if you are a christian, then you'd know that Jesus used to hang out with tax collectors and sinners because he knew that showing them love would win them over to the kingdom of God. That was how Mary Magdalene, the former prostitute, ended up going to Heaven in the end.
Remember that whilst you're pointing fingers at and judging chameleon for her lifestyle, she just may be the one to make Heaven in the end. That's what i mean by best be careful.
I'm not preaching to you o my sis; just giving you good advice cos noone knows what's around the corner. People get knocked down everyday or lose their lives in some other tragic circumstances which they did not expect. Many of those people died judging others the way you are judging chameleon.

my own 2cents to this post is that for all you who speak so proudly of leavin him if and when he cheats blah blah...isn't it only if u know. If you don't know nko? wot happens? Wot u know don't hurt you...so they say.
I think it depends on the situation like most people have said. However, this is a very grave situation that no one should oversimplify. Even the greatest book, the Bible allows only one instance where a wife can divorce her husband and that one reason is infidelity. Hence, God realizes how important it is for a marriage to be based on trust and so a man stepping out and sleeping with a woman breaks that sacred vow and a woman has every right to seek a divorce. The reasons you mentioned like lack of attention from the guy is not reason enough according to the Bible to get a divorce.
Having said that, if the guy is truly repentant and u have it in your heart to forgive him and forget the incident, then I believe that with God's strength and grace, the marriage can be repairable.
I've noticed that many women in nigeria whose husbands cheat on them just stay in the marriages just to save face, a lot of them gossip and disrespect their husbands. I would rather they get a divorce than remain in a loveless marriage that does not help the kids.
Just my '2 cents'...

this is not a "one-size-fits-all" situation and there is no "one-size-fits-all" solution. pray never to find yourselves in such a predicament and if you do, look to God for direction.
Men, infidelity is bad. I just thank Ghod my spouse was very understanding and for the sake of our 8 yr old marriage and kids she forgave me. If we were able to avoid it, please lets avboid it. Infidelity ruins. Infidelity is terrible. We better return to bniblical precepts and avoid the scars that cvome with the indulgence in sex outside marriage. God really knew what infedility concequences could be when he commanded mankind not to commit adultery.
