Naija News and Fashion

I was going to give you a lot of Naija News...I have all the soft sell magazines in front of me, very interesting gossip...lol...but I can't seem to keep my eyes open...still feeling a little queasy. I will give you all the news tommorrow. Hopefully!

Meanwhile I heard Tuface's pregnant girlfriend, Annie Macauley was shot at recently. She escaped unhurt and was in the hospital for a bit. Someone very close to her told me this...
First Tuface was attacked, now it's Annie? May God take care of her and her unborn child..

For now enjoy Naija Fashion.
What do you guys think about the red carpet dresses Nigerian women wear? Are they getting it right? Check out this clothes and tell us what you think.

Pix thanks to purefoto and Niyitabiti and bellanaija

So what do guys think? We getting it right? Share your thoughts.

most of these women are rocking it for sure...I would like to see them take more risk with dresses, have a "wow" fashion moment, crazy accessories, african attire with a western twist & pay more attention to their hair look and most of all let those red carpet people increase the width of the redcarpet..most times all i see its a strip of red rug and people standing outside it. LOL

No, they never get it right. They never do. Why are their dresses, hair, make up, shoes, and accessories hardly on point? Its either they look like brides, bride maids, dream girls dancers, club dancers, wannabe Beyonce (Ashionye), prom queens, ballerinas or Atilogu dancers. Their style never seem to go with the event. I think the problem is that most of these women either want to look too dramatic or too simple. I think sometimes they need to tone down that loudness and add more style to their fashion. e.g Do not depend on the fabric, what comes out of fabric matters. YOUR STYLE GOTTA BE TASTEFUL!
My humble advice is that they should not use some of the Nigerian fashion magazines I have seen because they suck a whole lot. Not every one is a designer and if they cannot come up with their own ideas, there is nothing wrong with getting inspiration from some styles in good foreign fashion magazine- Vogue, Bazaar, Elle- and adding a little bit of twist to it. It is also possible for them to go online and do a little bit of research on what fashionistas/ style icons have worn and get inspired. I AM NOT SAYING COPY O! I believe that you can still make it you. And it doesn't hurt to go to Deola Sagoe, Amaka Osakwe, DAV!D, Cranberry and many more designers and upcoming designers.... I cannot think of more advices. I am not a designer but I think do a pretty good job in picking what to wear because I get inspired by magazines and fashionistas. Lol.
When I went home last Christmas, I couldn't even use those Nigerian fashion magazines to sew traditional dresses. It was scary, I just could not. I don't know where exactly they get their inspiration from. And I just couldn't find the right tailor that would listen to me and sew what I want. I dislike giving my fabric to women, especially older unexposed female tailors. Its like they think I am trying to seduce men. What is the issue? I DO NOT EVEN SHOW MY CLEAVAGE or anything of that nature. I always want certain things that they do not know of and they hate it. Lol.
We have great upcoming Nigerian designers abroad and they have to hurry up and save these people because they no try at all. The only person that looks presentable is the pregnant lady in a long dress. As for the rest, they need to take out those dresses from their closets and burn the heck out of them.

I would say that Nigerian females are trying in the western fashion scene. And they could improve in certain areas, for example, it is not a very good idea to wear wristwatches to high profile events. Bracelets and Bangles will and can do. If they are conscious of time then their mobile phones will suffice. In terms of footwear, unfortunately, most times, they don't get it right. Open toe pumps, strappy stilleto sandals, that suit the shape of their feet, so that their feet don't look as if it has been squeezed into the shoes and swollen, are ideal. Should they wish to wear floor length gown, let it be sexy and cool. They can take a cue from Tyra Banks. I have noticed that it is mainly the big boned women that like doing that - that is wearing floor length gowns and it is cool, as long as they get it right. The ladies with slim legs should wear more of above the knee gowns and skirts and less of voluminous gowns. I am not going to name names but i have seen some of the big named women doing that, and to me, it just doesn't look right. I can go on and on about what needs to be ammended as there is always room for improvement. But that will mean taking up so much space. Anyway... maybe next time...

Some of these dresses look like those dresses they sell in Vietnamese boutiques downtown. Eh yah. Some look ok but they have to step up. I am sure some of these people scare international celebrities when they come to Nigeria.lol. Just kidding.

i think most comments here are biased.a lot of nigerian women are getting it rite just dat most of them tend to overdo thereby ending up to look more like a bride.they should just tone it down a bit.just like Bisola said,a lot of them are confused for real.
