He said " You believe something to be true without any doubt in your heart, but you can't see, hear, feel or touch it...Linda, how do you prove what you can't see? Why do you believe what you can't prove? For instance, you can't proove that God exists but you believe he does. You can't personally prove that there are other planets, but you believe in Jupiter, Venus, Mars, Mercury etc, you can't prove the world is round as you don't have the ability to float above it to check, but you believe what scientists say. How can you prove that that really was the moon that Neil Armstrong landed on in 1969? There are so many things we can't prove, but we believe in them. If you can't prove something DOES exist, does that prove that it does NOT?"
I couldn't give him an answer, hopefully most of y'all are brighter than I am.
So the question is this: How do you proove what you can't see? Why do you believe what you can't prove?
If you know the answer, please supply it.

In general you should never believe what you cannot prove. However your friend's definition of proof is wrong. First he is using ignorance as a substitute for lack of evidence. For example the fact that I cannot prove that there are other planets does not mean that it can't be proven. Cos if i became an astrophysicist it would be very easy for me to prove that there are other planets. The same thing with the neil armstrong thing. If you have access to the flight logs of warrever ship that armstrong took and you know physics it's easy to know if he landed where he said he did.
As per the God one, I'm not going to touch that.
Certain enigmas are tolerated in our global village, such believes are accepted and not based on proof, simply put in 5 letters that phenomenon is called "FAITH".
But to answer the question raised in a direct manner, you can prove what you cant see by using other sensory receptors like your hands (to feel), tongue (to taste) etc

Just cause I can't prove it doesn't mean that it has not been proven. E.g. pi = 3.14159265 . I don't know how to prove (cause I'm not that great with math)but someone else has proven it.
As for God, I think every one has a reason for why they believe in God. And that reason usually makes sense to them. I don't think that people who believe in God do not know why they do. There is always a reason why an individual chooses to believe in God but that reason may or may not make sense to someone else.

NO.
Because you have to actually disprove the existence of something before you have proven it does not exist. So if you need proof for the existence of something LIKEWISE you also need proof for the non-existence of the thing. Proof works both for or not for some thing

Sometimes it could be our intuition.
I had a man once, i knew he was cheating, i never saw it, but i believed it.

I believe in God because I believe that my knowledge about myself and my world is extremely limited (eg. where did I come from? What happens to me when I die? Where does my consciousness go, or does it simply disappear?) It makes sense, therefore, to defer authority to someone else because it releases me from the obligation to complete knowledge. In some ways, I think believing what we cannot see is necessary for human existence, and not just with regard to religion/God.
Also, like someone else said, we have to realize the extreme limitation of sight which we humans are overly reliant upon.
A lot of our world is structured on the principle of faith, for instance, how do we know Nigeria exists? How do are we able to use the internet (you click a button from your home and things happen)? How are we able to use money? We can say that experts within fields know how these things work but the rest of us just operate by faith.
