Sat in front of my computer for at least two hours wondering what to blog about. I need to get a life eh? lol
Anyway, came across Tosyn's blog here...http://speechgirlbucknor.blogspot.com/ and decided to follow suit. I want to share with you guys some things that only a few friends and family members know about me...
Some of them are a little weird though...lol
Let's go
1. My middle name is IFEOMA and I am from Imo State
2. I have five sisters and one brother...
3. I'm a good cook. They call me 'kitchen practical' at home. My brother gets very excited when he hears I'm cooking.
4. My favourite colour is Black
5. My favourite food is - amala and gbegiri ati ewedu. (if u don't know what that means, go find out lol)
6. I used to be a loner. I could go for days without talking to anyone. Now? No way, I need people around me.
7. I've been arrested before...sat behind the counter for at least an hour with no shoes on. During my bitchy days, I had a huge fight with my landlord and he called the police on me...long story!
8. I'm not particularly a relationship kind of person. I don't believe that the only way to be happy is to have a man in your life. But I think love is a beautiful thing and I'm currently smitten like never before...
9. I don't like going to social events alone. If no one is going with me...I probably won't go.
10. I'm a very good driver. You probably won't find a safer person to drive you. I mean I'm a little rough but extremely careful.
11. I've never had a nightmare. When people tell me about a nightmare they had, I wonder about it, 'cos I dont have that experience.
12. I am probably one of the best catwalk models you will ever see. I'm quite good on the runway.
13. I used to be a little addicted to porn movies. I wasn't having sex so I was curious about the whole 'act'. I haven't seen a porn flick in many many years now.
14. I once had a crush on Ramsey Noah. As a teenager, he was my ultimate 'fantasy'. I think we got married and had 10 kids together. What happened to my crush? I grew up...lol
15. I used to be wary of female friends. I tried not to get close to women, I was a little of scared of them. But now I think I have more female friends than male friends.
16. I contested at the 2003 Miss Nigeria Beauty Pageant. I didn't make top 10...lol. Don't ask me what happened. Guess I wasn't as 'all that' as I thought I was.
17. My role model is Ben Murray-Bruce of Silverbird Group.
18. I had an extra year in the University. I graduated in 04 instead of 03. Tacky huh? lol
19. I have high moral values. When people see me or know of my profession, they wonder what kind of a woman I am. The kind that doesn't mess around. I believe as women, we should all have our pride and dignity intact.
20. I pray a lot and I believe with God, anything is possible.
That's it. Don't you feel like you know me a little better now? I'm a little weird huh? lol
Moving on, remember I told you all about a beach party I went to recently? Well, here are a few pictures from the party. Birthday girl is Becky...
One of my closest friends, Andy, me and ex-model Kunle (Kunle used to be a top male model in Europe...he doesn't look it does he? You should see his portfolio...unbelievable!) BTW, that's one of my Rukkies dresses
Andy, Becky, myself and Santiago 'd genius' Roberts
Andy, Becky and Oteri Agboro
Becky and Noble Igwe
Andy, Me and My Chanel Glasses ;)
That's it!

Thank God for Great Sisters...
Sandra Ikeji...my sister and best friend
I might be taking a one-week break from work but my younger sister, Sandra, who runs my modeling agency isn't resting. Sometimes I feel she's more hardworking than I am. She's a third year student of the University of Lagos studying Geography.
She's quite young but one of the most ruthless business women you'll ever meet. Sometimes when I have major meetings with clients, I bring her along to sit in and listen and advice me later...
I feel like with her I can build an empire. We share the same passion and have the same drive. She's as hardworking as I am, if not more. I'm hoping that after she graduates from school, she'll continue to work with me. She's such an asset.
She's the most reliable person I know. Ten times more reliable than I am. When I'm not around, I hand over my business to her and when I get back I feel like the business has done better in my absense.
She's shrewd, very observant, doesn't like being idle like myself , trusthworthy and very intelligent.
I feel so blessed to have her working with me...
I'm so so grateful for great sisters...
Some of you have spoken to her. If you've called the phone number I have on this blog...then it was her you spoke to. She'll tell you she's my PA (she likes to prop me...lol. I don't have a PA) She's really my sister.
Anyway, she told me today that we have more jobs than than we have models. Half of our models are traveling on Sunday for a road show for a Telecom company, another set will be leaving next week for another Telecom company and she has all these castings lined up for the next few weeks and most of our models won't be around.
So basically, we are looking for more models. Fresh models. Good looking models of all ages. We are in the modeling season and we are kinda short of models. So if there's anyone interested or knows anyone interested in photography modeling, ushering or even road shows, contact sandra on 08033595004.
Family, there's nothing better than that, is there? Please appreciate your family, because at the end of the day, that's all you really have.
See y'all tomorrow.
Kisses!!!
P.S: Happy birthday to MJ as he turned 50 yesterday.
Cheers everyone. L

My Complexion + Mr/Miss Unilag 2008 in Pictures
Hi people, what's going on? I woke up around 10:45 am today. Can you believe that? I haven't done that in so long...quite refreshing.
So now I'm sitting in front of my computer wondering what to blog about...I have no clue...lol
You guys have to help me from now on. If you have stories, pictures, breaking news...whatever, pls send it to me via email so I can share it here...
Meanwhile I need some expert advice. I think I have a fairly nice skin. I don't break out, no pimples, blackheads, dark spots etc. I don't use moisturisers, toners or facial cleansers. I don't have the patience for it...lol. I just take my bath, put on my clothes and I'm out. That's not a nice thing for a woman to say huh? Well, that's who I am. I find it a little tiresome going through the ritual of cleansing, mositurising...and all the works. I've tried a few times to do it but after a week or so, I give it up.
But I'm going on TV soon and I want a clearer, brighter, smoother skin.
Seriously what can I do to make my skin better and smoother? What can you recommend? Help a sister out...and I promise to judiciously follow whatever ritual you recommend...
While you're thinking about that, here are pictures from Mr/Miss Unilag 2008 Beauty Pageant that held on Tuesday August 26th at the School's Sports Center...
Didn't bother to arrange the pictures but enjoy...

The N100m Dinner for Obama + Pics from Laff for Christ Sake
Still home. I'm bored.
Oh well, thank God for blogging.
How many of you have heard of the recent controversy trailing the DG of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, Dr. Ndidi Okereke-Onyiuke?
If you haven't, read the story below...
On Monday August 11, 2008, at the shell hall, Muson Centre, Onikan Lagos, the DG of Nigerian Stock Exchange, Dr. Ndidi Okereke-Onyiuke who heads the ‘Africans for Obama’, a Nigerian-based group mobilizing and canvassing for the election of US Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, Senator Barrack Obama, held a very flamboyant dinner/concert that attracted society bigwigs, politician and businessmen.
Dubbed the most expensive dinner in recent times, with 56 buffet tables loaded with assorted drinks and food. Tickets alone were sold in the category of Platinum (corporate table for eight people for N2.5mil and individual N325, 000). For gold category, the ticket went for N2million for a corporate table of eight and N275, 000 for an individual.
Being well connected in the corporate world as well as in the corridors of power, it was easy for Dr. Onyiuke to raise N100 million.
However, the N100 million garnered at this event is already causing ripples as to where the money raised is going, since the person in whose honour the dinner/concert was staged cannot in anyway capacity receive foreign donations for his campaign.
The US Foreign Election Campaign Act (FECA) 1974, ‘prohibits any foreign national from contributing, donating or spending funds in connection with any federal, state, local election in the US either directly or indirectly’
Since organizing that dinner, Dr. Onyiuke has been battling with humiliation, criticisms and castigation over the dinner and the activities of the group. First, the campaign organization of the Democratic Party’s candidate out rightly dissociated itself from the activities of ‘Africans for Obama’. Staff counsel to the ‘Obama for America Inc’ had written that ‘we want to inform you that ‘Obama for America Inc’, which is the principal campaign for the president for the US and the National Democratic committee are in no way affiliated with the event or with this organization. We will not accept any fund raised at this event or through the fund raising activities of this group.'
As if that wasn’t enough, on Thursday Aug 14th 2008, the Securities and Exchange Commission demanded an explanation from Okereke-Onyuike. She was also later quizzed by the EFCC, her passport seized and later released.
Further investigation is currently going on the matter.
So what do you guys think? Was her action in order? Was she wrong to stage this dinner?
Meanwhile, here are pictures from comedian Julius Agwu's Laff for Christ Sake which held last weekend...

Enjoy...

Plot to Assasinate Obama + Heart of Africa Connects Forum
I'm home today. Decided to take the rest of the week off 'cos the next couple of weeks will be crazy, especially after we have our magazine delivered to us. Did I tell y'all that we are planning another Style Night? Yeah, it's gonna happen before the year runs out. And the reality show is `almost` finally taking shape...so I'm taking all the rest I can now that I can...
Everyone says I should rest, but I don't like being idle so instead of resting, I'm blogging. I love blogging...so bite me :)
So to today's post, I'm sure you all have heard that some crazies tried to assasinate our Obama... They can only try.
Idiots!!!
Check out the story below
Currently, the FBI is investigating claims of an alleged assassination plot against Presidential hopeful Barack Obama.
Four people were arrested near the Democratic convention in Denver. They were in possession of high-powered rifles.
Nathan Johnson (pictured above on the right), is denying any involvement in the plot, but he did admit that his friends "were here to do that - to assassinate him."
Apparently, the plan was to shoot Obama "from a high vantage point … with a … rifle."
This all came about on Sunday, when police arrested 28 year-old Tharin Gartrell (above left), who was erratically driving a rented pickup truck. That's where they found two high-powered rifles with telescopic sites. They also found walkie-talkies in his truck, along with camouflage clothing, a bulletproof vest, two wigs, a high-powered spotting scope, three IDs with unknown identities, and methamphetamine.
When Gartrell was accompanied to his hotel in Denver by the police, a second man, 33 year-old Shawn Robert Adolf, jumped out from a window and injured himself. He jumped from six-stories high.
Adolf broke his ankle after the fall, but was arrested shortly afterwards. He also had several outstanding warrants against him. And according to sources, he was also wearing a ring with a swastika on it and is believed to have connections to white supremacist organizations.
Johnson added that Gartell and Adolf "planned to kill Barack Obama at his acceptance speech." He said that his friends told him, Barack "don’t belong in political office – or blacks don’t belong in political office. He gotta be shot."
As for the fourth person arrested, it's an unidentified woman who was with Johnson though she is not believed to have any involvement with the plot, however other arrests are still a possibility.
US Attorney Troy Eid insisted that there was no clear danger to the candidates or convention delegates. Eid said in a recent statement, “Federal law enforcement is working hand-in-glove with the Aurora Police Department. Because this matter is currently under investigation, there is little we can say right now. We can say this: We’re absolutely confident there is no credible threat to the candidate, the Democratic National Convention, or the people of Colorado."

Like I said, they can only try. Won po to...
Is anyone surprised by this attempt?
Anyway, if there's anyone who wants to read Hillary Clinton's address to the Democratic National Convention yesterday night in Denver, check it out here:

Does Religion Matter? + Nigeria International Party
Does religion matter when it comes to marriage? If you're a staunch Catholic and a non-Catholic wants to marry you, is that a problem? And if you want to get married in a Catholic Church and he wants to do it in his own Church...what do you guys do? How do you compromise?
NB: This has got nothing to do with me...nothing at all. When we're ready, I'm sure he'll let me pick wherever I wanna marry at...wink!
But some people are facing this dilemma...
So what do you guys think?
Nigeria International
Finally the No1 celebrity party with Nigeria International happened. Again NI is the TV show for Nigerians around the world, showing the practicalities of Nigerian life every and anywhere they maybe with a celebrity presenter every week to show case the best of the best of Talents in the country . The anchors Michelle Dede of Universal studios and Big brother Nigeria, and the well fed comedian of Nigeria, Jedi Ayo who came in straight from a show in the UK were just magical that the audience had no dull moment every time they came upstage. Hosting a first of its kind live set Talk show in the same manner of setting new standards by Nigeria International.
The talk show with Gbenga, Seyi Law, Jedi and Michelle

The discussions were based on ‘How the Nigerian Entertainment industry is taking Nigeria International’ So we now have almost as often as we do in Nigeria, Nigerian comedy events, concerts involving Nigerian artiste like the Mandela concert with 9ice recently and our movies being first choice in different parts of the world although mostly amongst the Nigerian communities. It was a most interesting session and very revealing as these celebrities and industry moguls were most passionate .
The great Tee Mac was live to serenade with his flute and the world class rapper MI who is just hot and blazing, representing Nigeria around the world thrilled the audience with hits after hit especially crowd mentality.
One of NI's ambassadors - Dakore Egbuson

The cute dinner part was a cosy affair with not too much people from entertainers to corporate executives and upwardly mobile young people. The colours of the evening were bright and hot as it was a mix of White, Red and Green magically done by Yvent couture.
The ever cool performer, Segun Obe.
Wine and drinks were pouring over. Food from Essy peacock and small chops from Saheeto were too much to handle.
It was a pleasant evening for everyone that attended the event as they went home witr renewed hope for the country, refreshed from the thrill, and of course with great insights from the talk sessions.

Rave of Hiphop, MI Abaga thrilling the audience
The Anchors of the night -Michelle Dede and Jedi Ayo

Nigerian Men Are Killing Their Wives in America now.
This is an extremely negative portrayal of Nigerian men. Been battling with whether to post this or not...decided to.
Have you ever seen the face of a wife killer? Have you ever met anyone who took the life of the mother of his children? Have you ever seen or met such a person who is a Nigerian? How spooky it is indeed that such a person has the blood of another human being and a Nigerian for that matter, drooling over his hands! Such a hallowing experience becomes much creepier, when that monster who took the life of a Nigerian is also a fellow Nigerian whom you may have interacted with somehow. somewhat! Now buckle up your belt as Icheoku takes you on a harried excursion through the faces, names and somewhat biographies of some of these denigrate of society! They are painting the average Joe-Nigerian man in American as a domestic violent person; a potential wife killer! A bad name indeed, really? They are the worst of the Nigerian male society in America: the dregs of the society! They are the fabled black-sheep who have defiled and violated the sanctity of the Nigerian family cohesiveness. These men killed their WIVES! They made their children motherless! It is abominable! Brace yourself!
Now, meet denigrate person wife-killer number one, Mr. Kelechi Charles Emeruwa:- A Nigerian Mr. Kelechi Charles Emeruwa, (pictured here right) 41 of Old Umuahia, Abia State was charged and convicted with first degree murder of his estranged wife, 36 year old Registered Nurse, Chidiebere Omenihu Ochulo. Kelechi finally lost it and stabbed his wife, with her own kitchen knife, several times that the fountain left on Julius Ceaser fades in comparison, until she gave up the ghost. "According to the account, Chidiebere had just returned from Nigeria where she bolted away for three weeks to give her late father a lavish burial despite protestations of Mr. Kelechi of the bills that are accruing and payable here in America. She wouldn’t hear any of it, after-all she makes the money; only to return to an angry frustrated maniacal husband who took her kitchen knife and carved her up. It was on New Year’s Day, in her townhouse in the 4200 block of Dunwood Terrace, in the Washington DC suburb of Burtonsville in Montgomery County, Maryland.
For a little biography, Chidiebere was born on June 1, 1970 and attended schools in Umuahia and Yola before proceeding to University of Nigeria Nsukka where she bagged a degree in Microbiology. She then got married to Kelechi in 1996 and left for the US the same year, having won the American Visa lottery. In an effort to really settle down in the US and get a respectable job, she took a second degree in Nursing and began a career at Washington Hospital Centre. As a result of her hard work, she got to the peak of the administrative cadre as a Deputy Director, Clinical Services, at the Centre where she remained until her death in the cold hands of the man she once loved - the father of her three children.
In Garland, Texas on Saturday, March 25, 2007 Mr.Theophilus Ojukwu, (pictured right in his orange prison jumpsuit) 46, of Enugwu-Agu, Ihe in Awgu LGA, Enugu State used a mattock (hammer) to bludgeon his deeply asleep RN wife, Melvina Ojukwu, 36, of Umuanebe, also of Ihe, Awgu LGA, Enugu State to a very painful agonizing death.
Mr Theophilus Ojukwu has since been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole; that one would ask, is the craze to control the RN’s “legendary money-faucet” enough for this tragedy and the life imprisonment consequence thereof? In Los Angeles California it was reported that a Nigerian RN wife was brutally murdered by her husband. The viciousness of the attack was such that the man eventually tied the dead body of his wife to his truck and dragged her dead body through the roads and streets of Southern California until her skull gave up its cranial contents. He was eventually arrested, charged, tried and convicted for first degree murder with special circumstance which carries the death penalty! He is presently awaiting a date with the lethal injection in a cold segregated death-row prison cell!
Not too long ago, also, on August 10, 2005 in Euless, a suburb of Dallas, another frustrated Nigerian husband, 45-year old Johnny Omorogieva from Edo State, Nigeria murdered his RN wife, Mrs. Isatu Omorogieva, 35, also of Edo State by savagely striking her on the head numerous times with a hammer in the full view of their 7-year old screaming daughter. In Tulsa, Oklahoma a yet to be fully authenticated report has it that another Nigerian man recently bludgeoned his RN wife to death while she was fast asleep; following a traumatic life which she has subjected him to since turning into the majority bread winner of the family following her graduating from a nursing program.
Another Nigerian nut-case, Mr. John Onwuka (pictured here right in his orange prison jumpsuit) 49,
from Akwete community of Ohafia Bende Local Government Area of Abia State was charged with one count each of homicide and use of a knife in the commission of a felony. He stabbed his RN wife of twenty five years, Mrs Gloria Uchechi Anya Onwuka age 42, fourteen times in her bedroom while she was getting ready to go to work. She was a nurse manager. Mr. John Onwuka committed this crime on the night of Saturday August 19, 2006 at the home of his wife in Estate Drive, Farmington, Hampton, Virginia with her children watching him act out his gory insanity.
"Yes I have killed the woman that messed my life up! A woman that had destroyed me. I am at Shalom West, my name is Michael and am all yours". With those words - a 911 call placed to the authorities, another Nigeria man has joined the infamous heinous club of Nigerian Men Wife Killers. Fifty year old Mr. Michael Collins Iheme (pictured here left) of Hennepin Minnesota placed the call above few minutes after shooting his twenty eight year old wife, Mrs. Anthonia Eberechi iheme, the mother of his 4 year old boy and 3 year old girl, to death. What is wrong with this crazed out Nigeria man was that he lacked the stomach to take all the bullshit he was forced to take by a typical Nigerian "Nurse" wife. However in as much as Icheoku does not condone such misbehaviour of taking the life of another, these Nigeria men who marry "fedexed" wives should better watch it as what they bargained for might not necessarily always come to fruition. There is no need travelling to Africa to find a wife - if it is akaata, filpino. latina mamacita, oke-bekee or even chinese that loves you, please settle down with such a person. Your love for foofoo and egusi soup is not enough to trade your happiness and possibly freedom when they make you do the unthinkable like our Mr. Micahel Collins Iheme and crew. For the records, it would appear that majority of these uxoricides occurred in Dallas, Texas! Leading to the question, whuz up Dallas? Is there any maniacal peculiarity with Nigerian men living in Dallas? Further, most of the victims were Registered Nurses which forces one to ask is the "war over the purse" of who controls this their "legendary treasure trove" enough reason to commit the most heinous of all crimes? Also the number of such homicides is rather astronomical judging the sanctity of life-environment from which majority of these homicidal maniacs come from back in Nigeria. Admitted, that it is dreadfully wrong and also a sacrilege for anyone to take the life of another, especially if that other was a spouse; but what could be the driving factor of this senseless exhibition of ravenous rage by some frustrated Nigerian men in the United States of America? This question is imperative because there are other more acceptable options available for getting out of a hellish marriage including just getting up and leaving; mutual separation; taking a second wife just like the Mormons of Texas, Utah and Nevada; becoming a bachelor once again; keeping a girl friend outside your so called matrimonial home or the penultimate divorce instead of committing the mother of all crimes - taking the life of another! Nothing is worth it! Does the underlying problem defy every solution imaginable? NO! Take a deep breath and consider other options including the almighty walking-out! Nothing is worth the trouble! Not all the diamonds in South Africa and/or gold in Fort Knox! The "mansion" which you are fighting for, you did not bring it with you to America? The SUV or Mercedes car that is making you to loose your head, the manufacturing plant in Stuttgart Germany has not yet closed shop! In your convoluted suspicion that your wife is sleeping around because she dresses well, ask yourself, where is the foundational trust of your relationship and at worst, were you the first man in her life? Did you break her virginity and why do you think it is either you with her or nobody at all, that you will rather have her dead than loose her to someone else? Have you also tried getting professional counseling or earnestly engaging your wife in an open discussion to find out what you may be doing wrong and make amends where necessary. Have you tried temporary separation for a cool-off period? At worst get an amicable divorce so that you guys can remain friends for the benefit of the children! Before you write that check which you cannot cash, please stop and ask yourself, before you met her did you not have any life? It is not worth it! Learn to move on; as around the next corner may be lurking your real wife of “Christian marriage” who will really cherish and love you for who you are! Your wife's leaving you is not the end of the world as we know it! As the popular aphorism goes, "when one door closes another one is open down the road". Nothing is worth the taking of life and not that of a spouse who also is a Nigerian!
hmmmmmm....

Let's join Spain as they begin three days of mourning starting today, Thursday for the 153 people who died.
Only 19 people survived Wednesday's crash of a Spanair plane bound for the Canary Islands. Most of the bodies could not even be identified. That's such a horrid way to go...

Open Letter to Senator Eme Ekaete + Miracle Accident!
Hi people, hope y'all are doing great. I'm doing so so well and anxiously waiting for the release of my mag's 4th edition. The printers say it will be ready in a week or so...will let y'all know when that happens.
Senator Ekaette,
Please permit me to speak with you woman to woman. I have a few truths to tell you, about the Indecent Dressing Bill you are sponsoring, and I hope that you listen.
We are living in the 21st century, and in this day and age, it is reprehensible that you would try to dictate what women should wear in a society that is supposed to be democratic and free.
Have you forgotten what happened at the U.N assembly when you attempted to present this bill to them? Have you forgotten so soon the comments from the other ambassadors? Especially the ambassador from Jamaica?
Are you now seeking to absolve men of their crimes of rape? I am disappointed that this type of thinking comes from a fellow woman.
The men do not hold any responsibility for their crimes? They cannot control themselves?
Rather than trying to pass this bill, YOU OUGHT TO BE WORKING ON A PUNISHMENT FOR THE MEN WHO COMMIT THIS HEINOUS CRIME! You ought to let them know that they are the bane of the society and you, as a woman, should NOT be victimizing the victims. Put a stiff punishment and ACTUALLY CARRY OUT THE PUNISHMENT, and let’s see what happens.
In Aba, Abia State, thugs have taken advantage of this unfortunate situation and are stripping girls of their clothes in public.
THEY HOLD GIRLS DOWN AND TEAR OFF THEIR JEANS, claiming that the directive from Abuja states girls should no longer wear trousers.
And when they tear off the clothes from these girls, what do you think happens next? I’ll leave that up to your imagination
I have a few that you can take up:
Instituting counseling and help for victims of rape
Encouraging women to come forward when they have been assaulted and PROVIDING HELP to the victims
Working on removing the stigma of rape
The trafficking of girls to Europe for prostitution
Institute and implement STRICT PUNISHMENT for rapists and sexual harassers
The plight of women being regarded as second class citizens
The plight of children in Nigeria, have you seen the children under the bridge? (Have you seen these children begging on the streets? I am very sure you have seen them, that is, if your escorts and convoy does not run them over)
THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT CAUSE THAT I WOULD LIKE FOR YOU TO LOOK INTO CHAMPIONING – HAVE YOU HEARD OF VESICO VAGINAL FISTULA (VVF)? This is a cause being spearheaded by Ms. Stephanie Okereke, please contact her and work with her on this most worthy cause.
If you do not achieve anything else in your life, let this be the one thing that you will be remembered for in Nigeria.
Contact Ms. Stephanie Okereke, and help the young girls and women who are suffering from this.
It appears I am in an alternative universe where this would be the news headline and stories in major newspapers:
It gives me great pleasure to note that all the MINOR issues and problems we experience in this great nation have been totally taken care of.
Minor problems that average citizens like you and I experience, problems that the Nigerians in authority and power never experience.
Minor problems like:
No working electricity,
No clean water,
Inflation,
No jobs for graduates,
No salaries being paid to the teachers who are supposed to educate the next generation
No education system in place for our children
No health care for the masses
Poor living conditions
Extremely bad roads
The problems in the Niger Delta
The lack of rules and laws in Nigeria
The country’s abject poverty
This has left us free to focus on the really monumental major issues like the Honourable Senator Ekaette’s Indecent Dressing Bill. Senator Ekaette has single-handedly solved the minor issues in Nigeria, and must now focus on being the moral police that Nigeria so desperately needs.
Respectfully,
Ure Akuma

D'Banj, the Entertainer + Niyi Tabiti's Wedding Pictures
He calls himself the entertainer...that he definitely is, but beyond that, this 28year old artist and businessman, is a genius. I'm so fascinated with him and so proud of what he's been able to accomplish at such a young age.
About 6/7 years ago I saw this music video by someone who called himself D'banj. The song was titled 'Kiss me again'. I kinda liked it but never paid it much attention. Alot of people didn't pay that young guy much attention then. He even said his parents wanted him to go to school and forget about music, so I guess back then, he didn't get much support from family, friends and music lovers.
One would think the young man would give up and focus on other things, but he must have known what he had inside of him, he must have seen the great future he'll have if he contiued to pursue his dream, so instead of giving up, he traveled to the UK. I really don't know what exactly he did in the UK for the few years he was there. All I know is that he came back in 2005 and this time around, he got our attention.
Not only the attention of music lovers, but captains of industries, State Executives, Governors, the Senate President, even the Oba of Lagos. He’s made us all recognize him.
His meteoric rise is phenomenal!
But how did he do it? Don’t you guys ever wonder? How did he go from an unknown, struggling artist to the greatest artiste in Nigeria at the moment? His first hit single was ‘Tongolo’ in 2005, how did he rise to the top in three years? From making nothing to making 10million naira a week (according to him), winning numerous awards, including MTV African Artiste of the Year, and also becoming a UN Ambassador.
Dbanj and ex-Governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu
What took Dapo Oyebanjo from obscurity to greatness? Some say it’s his talent, others think it's because he carved a niche for himself, some say it’s maybe his lyrics, while others think he’s just blessed.
I think it’s all of that put together + hard work, dedication, perseverance, focus, belief and confidence in who he is and what he’s capable of. And of course he found someone (Don Jazzy) who believed in him.
This is some of the ingredient we need to be great…meaning that anyone of us can be this great or even greater, we just have to have the right ingredient.
Dbanj's parents and Governors Fashola and Tinubu
Dbanj is not only an artiste and ambassador; he’s also an astute businessman. He’s the Vice-president of Mohits Records; he’s partnering with Bank PHB for an upcoming reality show, and Globacom for the KOKO range of handsets, he recently launched Koko condoms and I hear also that Koko Water is in the works.
Understanding the importance of giving back, he started a foundation - Koko Foundation, where he’s helping motherless babies and giving scholarships.
Dbanj and Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu (pix thanks to Ayeni the great)
I’m sure he has women at the snap of his fingers, but he doesn’t go around impregnating them or acquiring mistresses. And anyone who’s met him will tell you he’s humble, funny, nice and very accomodating.
Best of all, his new album, ‘the entertainer’ is a masterpiece…
Personally, I think this is what it means to be great. I duff my hat for this young man who’s teaching us all a thing a two on how to make our lives meaningful.
We can’t all be D’banj, we can’t all be talented singers or entrepreneurs, but we all can make meaning of our lives and be the greatest we can be, in any field we choose…It's really up to us.
Dapo, you’re a shining example. We are all proud of you.
Meanwhile I'm sure y'all know that famous blogger and journalist, Niyi Tabiti, got married last weekened...here are some pictures from his wedding. Pix thanks to http://solafolowosele.blogspot.com/

Here's wishing my dear friend the best of married life
I'm out, see y'all tomorrow.
Cheers.

Being Nice
Oh, I had like the best time today. Went to the beach for the first time in years…I had so much fun mostly ‘cos I went with the guys I work with. I have a close nit family that just makes life beautiful for me.
There’s something I want to talk about today that I’ve been meaning to talk about for a while now. Something happened today to remind me of it. I got invited to the beach by a very good friend and when I got there she asked me to come meet another friend of hers. Nicely I went to where this other lady was and tried to say hi. She didn’t even look up, just waved casually. I smiled…she reminded me of me 5/6 years ago. The bitch I was back then…lol
I was a bit nasty back in my ‘supermodel’ era. Not only nasty, but unfriendly and snobbish. The only friend I had then was Denrele Edun, and maybe 2 or 3 more people...others I just ignored, even when they tried to be friendly. That many people didn’t like me and I really didn’t care…not knowing what I was missing.
Now I’m totally the opposite of who I used to be and sincerely I can't remember at what point that transition occurred but I can tell you with all authority that it’s so much so much so much (I can’t over-emphasise it) better being nice to people than being nasty. There’s absolutely no gain in being snobbish, unfriendly and bitchy, but there’s a lot to gain in being nice.
I’ll tell you two stories.
I sent a friendship request on facebook to a celeb a couple of months ago. He rejected my request and sent me a nasty message. I was called a bitch and other nasty names. Apparently I wrote about him a long time ago on this blog and you guys left some crazy comments that he read and didn’t like. So he carried a grudge…and waited for when he’ll confront me. When I saw his very nasty and very dirty message, I smiled. The former me would have bitched back at him but instead I apologised and 'spoilt him with love'. He didnt expect 'the love' so didn't know how to respond. A few days later, he sent another message explaining why he called me names and now sent me a friendship request. I confirmed and well…we’re great friends now. You should see us chatting, you won’t believe how it all started. All I had to do was say sorry and be nice…
Seond story.
Someone sent me an email a while back calling me a thief, a whore, a bitch and many unprintable names. He said I took something from his website without giving him credit and wanted me to take down the post asap. The email was so nasty that I cringed at first, but I replied him with ‘Hi luv, I am so so sorry for taking your pictures…blah blah’. I actually got the pictures from another website but I didn’t bother explaining that…just apologised. Of course I had a choice of telling him to go f**k himself or just ignore him, but I did something he didn’t expect ‘cos he had been spoiling for war. My reply to him must have shocked him ‘cos he sent me an email apologising for insulting me and told me it was ok to leave the post up. You know what they say...'Spoil your enemy with love, it confuses them'. lol. We still send each other emails…we’re friends now.
Like I said before, all I had to do was be NICE. It takes nothing from you to be nice…nothing. Instead it brings you friendship, a good name and people will love you. Forget pride, embrace kindness and respect people. Don't go about thinking you're better than anyone, 'cos you're not. Don't look down on people because we're thesame in the eyes of God. When someone smiles at you and says hi, what does it take to smile back and say hi in return? Why snob people when you can hang out with them? What’s the big deal in saying ‘I’m sorry’ whether you’re right or wrong? It doesn’t make you small, instead it makes you a bigger person and it gets you respect and admiration from people because when you really think about it, who wants to be around a nasty person?
I’ve been nasty and I know how life was for me, now that I’m nice, I know how life is for me. I’ll tell you again, it so much better being nice and friendly…you have absolutely nothing to loose
If you’re nasty to people, I hope you change. you should. You won’t believe how much better life will be for you and how many more friends and good people you will find.
Do it for you and see the difference!
Thanks to everyone who sent me get well wishes.
I’m much better now!
See y’all tomorrow.
Love, L

Bernie Mac to be buried...

Also expected to speak at the Saturday afternoon gathering are Mac's co-stars from the documentary "The Original Kings of Comedy" — Steve Harvey, D.L. Hughley and Cedric The Entertainer.
Mac died one week ago Saturday at the age of 50 from what his publicist says were complications from pneumonia.
He had been at Chicago's Northwestern Memorial Hospital since the middle of July.

The cause was under investigation, and authorities were unsure how the survivors escaped, Staples said.
Next-door neighbor Lamar Boyce, who said he was awakened by the victims' cries for help, said two of the survivors escaped by jumping from a second-story window of the burning home. Read the rest here...

Murder probe after boy's stabbing
A teenage boy has been stabbed to death in Manchester.
Police said the victim, who was thought to be 16 years old, was stabbed once in Moston Lane, Harpurhey, at about 0200 BST on Saturday.
Paramedics tried to treat the boy for a puncture wound, but he died on the way to hospital.
Moston Lane has been closed between the junctions of Ashley Lane and Cole Street. Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
Det Supt Shaun Donnellan said: "We are at the early stages of this inquiry, but we believe there may have been witnesses who could assist our investigation into finding out what happened."
Italy's illegal immigration soars
The number of illegal immigrants entering Italy doubled in the first seven months of the year compared to the same period in 2007, Rome says. The figures come in spite of a government crackdown on crime and an increase in the number of deportations.
More than 15,000 illegal immigrants entered the EU via Italy between January and July, Interior Minister Roberto Maroni said.
Many illegal immigrants arrive on boats organised by people traffickers. Find more here...http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7564584.stm
Ex-leader, 11 rebels sentenced to death
CHAD N'DJAMENA - A Chadian court yesterday sentenced a former president and eleven rebels to death for crimes against the state. The Olympics
Michael Phelps; Greatest Olympian?

The 23-year-old from Baltimore is already the winningest Olympian ever with 13 golds and most likely a 14th before he leaves Beijing. Phelps swam into history with a magnificent finish Saturday, tying Mark Spitz with his seventh gold medal by the narrowest of margins in the 100-meter butterfly. Hopefully, he will win his next race...

Rev Chris Okotie Interview + My posters
I'm still not feeling good but dammit, I wanna blog...lol
So I got Encomium magazine as usual and read a very interesting interview. A Rev Chris Okotie interview. I've always been fascinated with this man of God and just love listening to him speak...
On thursday August 7th through Sunday, August 10th 2008, Rev Chris Okotie and drop dead gorgeous Stephanie Henshaw had their traditional wedding, Registry and thanksgiving.
He spoke to Encomium's editor-in-chief, Kunle Bakare, on his new marriage.
Excerpt...
In the last few days what has filled your heart?
Rev "I’ve never been so excited in my entire life. The only experience that comes is when I became a born again Christian. The first time I was married I was 24, I didn’t understand the institution. I didn’t understand the convolution, the labyrinths of its complexities, it was a difficult parallax, to conceptualize things and maintain a balance. But today I’m much older, I’m wiser, more established, and above all, more yielded to the spirit of God. I was asking him when I knew I was going to get married, I wanted to know what kind of person should I look out for, because I’m not just an ordinary Christian, so that we don’t repeat what happened in the past. I was very very excited, exhilarated, completely overwhelmed when he decided in the direction of Stephanie, because I’ve always liked her, admired her as a person outside of being a great woman. She’s very beautiful, kind and gentle. I’m still trying to come to terms with the fact that this is happening to me. It’s beyond my wildest imagination.
So you didn’t mind the fact that she already married twice, and had three children?
Rev "No. when people asked me had she been married, I used to say yes. But a couple of days ago, I was talking about that and the spirit of God told me that I ought to realize as a minister as a minster that the girl you are marrying had never been married to anyone , it said to me. Then the scripture came to me that if any man believes in Jesus Christ, he’s a new creature. Then it asked me, ‘Are you the same Chris that you used to be?’ I said no. So, she’s not the same woman who married whoever it was. This is a different person entirely. None of those men know this woman that you know today. I said Lord that’s true because the woman I know today is not the same woman I used to know in the past. To tell you the truth, this is a virgin I am marrying and I’m her first husband."
You are her first husband?
Rev "I’m her first husband. It even makes it more exciting. I should have known because that’s what I teach. I just didn’t think about it until the spirit of God reminded me of the reality of God’s words"
Why did you opt for an elaborate traditional wedding? A lot of people thought because it was your ‘second’ marriage, you should have done a quieter wedding…
Rev "It was beyond me. It was my church. You know I’ve never liked ceremonies. I told them and my in-laws that I just wanted something real quiet but my church people were too excited and they made all the arrangement. I just showed up."
You were talking earlier about the lord speaking with you about the woman you are to marry…did you see Stephanie in the picture?
Rev "When ministers talk about the Lord talking to them, it creats a picture, it’s difficult for those who don’t. when teena (his first wife) left, I didn’t think I was going to remarry. I thought maybe what I should do is concentrate on serving God until God began to persuade me to the contrary that that’s not what I want you to do. I don’t want you to be celibate, I don’t want you not to have a woman in your life because of what you represent. And then I began to understand. I started asking for direction; what kind of a woman? Is there a particular person you’ll have me marry? The thing about it is that, most of the time, what He asks you to do, the tools are usually very close to you. I heard a man of God say once that God hides things from us by putting them very close to us. So I had already been friends with stephanie all these years, not realising that that was the purpose. And when it was time for me to begin to address my mind to the seriousness of a conjugal relationship, I began to look in her direction.
But from the way you talk, you are unabashed about refering to Teena and we suspect that you have a very good relationship…
Rev "Oh absolutely. We are very good freiends before we got married and so when things didn’t work out, our friendship was sustained. She’s very happy that this is happening to me. She used to tell me, you need to get married and have children"
Talking about children, you said you wanted to have twins
Rev "Yeah! I don’t want to have more that two children"
Where are you going on honeymoon?
Rev "First part would be Dubai, then England, France and USA. I would not walk alone for the rest of my life. I told my church that for ten years I walked alone, lived alone, gone to holidays alone but it will never happen to me again…lai lai, I will never walk alone again. I’ve found what I’m looking for, so I’m at peace. I’ve never danced so hard, I’m ecstatic, overjoyed. This is what I’ve always wanted. It’s just that she was not ready to marry me. I would have married her since"
Why was she not ready?
Rev "She wanted God to speak to her directly first. She wanted to be sure I wasn’t just marrying her because I love her. She wanted to be sure it was something that God approved. That’s why she’s separate from everybody I’ve ever know. She’s a friend and she truly loves me…"
What did you learn from your previous marriage that you know will help you in this union?
Rev "A lot of things. Number one I learnt that marriage is not about infantile immaturity. I see a lot of people get married in their 20’s, or evening their early 30’s. I do not think that is good for them. (huh??? Does he mean men???)
I’ve really taken time to study the word of God and I discovered that the age of maturity for a man differs from a woman’s. And there are certain pre-requisite in the scripture that are necessary, that must be in place before you can have a successful marriage. I’ve learnt that marriage is more important to God than we think. It requires a certain level of spiritual maturity. Spiritual maturity is not necessarily about biological age, because you can be 50years and still be immature, an infant spiritually. Like the things of God, they come in time. Each has a role to play if it is utilized in their position of biblical knowledge"
That's it.

On another note, I was happy about being given a blackberry and someone dropped a comment saying that I was sad for being excited over something so little.
"Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all the others."
I'm grateful for the smallest, littlest things. You should see me get excited over even 5grand. If you're grateful for the smallest things, God will bless you with things so beyond your wildest imagination. Nothing is small infront of God, why should anything be 'small' infront of us? Let's learn to appreciate what we're given, no matter how small we think it is...

Not feeling very well
Hi people, sorry I haven’t updated in a bit. I’m not feeling very well. I think I’m down with malaria or something close it and my mum won’t let me sit infront of my computer for more than a few minutes.
When I feel better, hopefully in a day or so, I’ll be blogging like crazy ‘cos I’ve kinda elevated my status lol…
I used to use dial-up internet connection (The guys who live in nigeria know how crazily slow that is) but today I got a RELTEL Broadband internet connection, that’s like the fastest thing you can get in nigeria right now. I also got a Reltel Blackberry phone with internet access...
Did y'all hear me? I have a Blackberry phone...
Now I'm a certified big girl huh?
lol
But na dash sha... I got all of it free of charge...I'm kinda working with them on a project and I got pimped...the phone is so cute I feel like giving out the number here so the phone will be ringing non-stop ;)
See it's good to be a small celeb o...haha... people are dashing me things like crazy. I got free clothes from Rukkies Boutique, lots of make-up from MARS Cosmetics, designer glasses, shoes, bags from friends, a Blackberry phone from RELTEL...etc.
e no easy sha...maybe it's just God's blessings 'cos I'm a nice girl...
I really am...
You don't think so?
Seriously I am
Why don't you believe me?
I'm serious, ask people who know me
I used to be a bitch but not anymore
I'm nice now
Very nice... lol
Sometimes I feel it's thanks to you guys. You've touched my life in more ways than I can describe...Thank you!
Ok, I gotta go, my mum wants me out of here...
I'll be better in a few days and you guys are gonna beg me to stop blogging. Seriously with fast internet on my laptop and internet on my new phone, I'm gonna be blogging-on-the-go...
Until then, you guys take care and don't miss me too much ;)
Kisses!

Style Night 4...What A Night!
Hi everyone...hope y'all are doing great.
Our show has come and gone and what a show it was. Some say it was good, others say it was fantastic.
I say it's just the beginning. We're going to stage more Style Nights. Of course it's only going to get bigger and better.
Seven designers featured, and we had over 30 models.
Djinee, Obiwon, MI, Toba Gold, Omobaba and Streethood thrilled the guests.
We had quite a number of celebs in the house. Festus Keyamo was there, so was Rita Dominic, Faze, Sasha, Segun Obe, Michelle Dede, Zaaki Adzay, Lexxy Mojo Eyes, Cossy Orjiako, Celia Bissong, Tessy Oliseh, Tosyn Bucknor, KC Presh, Frank Osodi, Bobby Eke, Don Barber, Ronke Apampa, Ofuneka, Chude Jideonwu and his gang, Juliet Hagerman, Gloria Ibru...I can't remember everyone right now, but there were lots of them there...
We also had a lot of media coverage. NTA, STV, MBI, GALAXY, SUPERSCREEN, SOUNDCITY, HIP TV, Glam on TV, Quest TV, STYLE.com and lots of print media..
What can I say? I'm grateful to God!
Thanks to everyone who was there.
I'll get you pictures later...
I'm kinda tired right now...understandably so huh?
Kisses!
