Photo: Ceiling collapses inside famous Apollo Theatre in London

The Famous 112 year old Apollo Theater in London yesterday was thrown into total chaos as the ceiling in the theater gave way during a major performance. The theater was packed full as people came out in the yuletide spirit to see the play 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time'.

While performance was going on, cracking sound was first heard from the balcony and it progressed into the ceiling, and then came crumbling down on the people in the theater. Police say a total of 88 people were injured with seven of them in critical state.

One person who witnessed the incident, Mr Anjarwalla said "I was in the upper circle with another family when, about 45minutes in, people started shouting and screaming. We thought it was part of the play".

Learnt the Theatre is about 100 years.. Do they do renovations on the theatre to strengthen the structure otherwise the ceiling shouldn't have given way...

This points to the fact that no nation is immune to disasters as a result of human error and negligence. We all are humans and sh*t happens anywhere/everywhere although the frequency of such occurrence still vary from one continent to another. I wish those affected speedy recovery!!!

Mr London hater, if you were in London now you will be wishing you were in d building at the time of collapse, because the amount the government will pay each person as compensation will be enough for yiu to erect your own house in ya village. Am talking thousands of pounds per head.

"We thought it was part of d play". Of course days d grand finale. If its Nigeria BBC will carry it for one week and stating how corrupt and poor Nigeria is. What do they use their tax money for? Thank God no life was lost at d end of d whole performance.

Lol....Nigerians and their ignorant comments...some people know nothing about a place yet they comment like they have all the facts....anyone who has lives in London will know the age of that theatre is no big deal as you have quite a lot of old and well maintained structures in London....this one unfortunately was not well maintained...if you find out properly it will be due to bad management....e.g .the London Underground is more than a hundred years old and still carrying millions of people daily.....

Anonymous said...

Ignoramuses full dis blog die......Yankee is America not London....and u so u think the collapsed building has to do with china product.....lol....it is maintenance mumu...u have structure that are older that that in London and they are still going strong.....the western world is not perfect but they still have a much more better maintenance culture than Africans...
