"Nigerian movie producers are all beggars" - Aremu Afolayan

"Nigerian movie producers are not celebrities in Nigeria. We are just traders. We produce movies and give them to marketers who pay us what they like. Forget those of us that drive big cars. Ask them if they bought the cars with money realised from sale of the movies. It is our fans that feed us. We are all beggars. I own big cars, but I will still tell you that I don’t have money. Fans help us. They call us and tell us they like our movie and ask us to send our bank account number." Actor/producer Aremu Afolayan, was quoted as saying in an interview with Punch today.

Fans dash money to celebs just because they like their work? Enough money to buy 4 big cars? I'll like to know your fans oh, Mr Afolayan...:-)

69yr old man slaughtered and dismembered over land in Anambra

It may take a long while before the lingering crisis between the Umumerenze Umuezebikogu Umuagu clans and their Umuduruekwe counterparts in Anambra State could get any headway. This is hinged more on the alleged murder of one of the principal actors in the dispute, a Francis Ohanebo. For 30 years now, the above families have been engaged in a feud over the ownership of a land in the area but the feud got to a head on Friday, February, 10, 2012.

On that fateful day, the late Ohanebo, 69, was resting in his compound around 8:00 pm, when no fewer than 10 men jumped in, wielding various dangerous weapons. Ohanebo, though reportedly waved their threats aside insisting that his lineage owned the disputed portion of land, his attackers however, were not ready to exchange hot words with him. They already had their briefs. While the old man was trying to raise the alarm, the assailants reportedly swooped on him and inflicted series of cuts on his fragile body.
Ohanebo was thus murdered in his compound in the full glare of some of his hapless relatives.

Body of Gbenga Daniel's aide found in river

The body of Wole Olumide, an aide of former governor of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel, was recovered lifeless yesterday night from a river beside the Golf Resort Hotels in Ogun State.

According to reports, the late politician was on his way to the resort when he suddenly asked his driver to pull up beside a bush path. He got out of the car and entered the bush. When he hadn't returned after an hour, his driver raised an alarm, which attracted people around the area. While searching for him, his cap was discovered beside a neaby river, prompting a team of local divers to go into the river, where his lifeless body was found.

His name is Okeoghene John Igwhiwotho, an ex-student of Federal Government College. He's a diabetic mellitus type 1 and 2 patient and has been bedridden for the past six years, after losing all the toes on both feet, due to injuries he sustained many years ago. Sadly, this has prevented him from completing his university education (he dropped out from OAU). At the moment, his life is at stake and he is in need of surgery urgently.

He was supposed to have the surgery in January 2012, but he has not been able to, because of his inability to raise funds. Oke needs 5million Naira for treatment in India...and needs your help. Worker Pays Spiritualist N11m To Kill Chivita Boss...

A self acclaimed spiritualist, Adewale Salami, 35, has been arraigned before Oshodi Magistrate’s court, Lagos State, for allegedly defrauding a company worker, Yinka Kayode to the tune of N11 million on a false pretence of helping him to perform rituals to kill his employers so that he would take over the company.

Yinka who was a staff of Chivita Company Limited located at Ajao Estate, Lagos, reportedly approached Salami and asked him to perform some spiritual work so that he would terminate the lives of his employers and own the company. Salami promised to do so if he would pay the money.

Two Nigerian house maids, Patience Okpara and Elizabeth Emmanuel threw away decency and fought openly at Ilupeju Lagos State, over an Indian man.

Patience was bitter that Elizabeth started having affairs with the Indian she claimd was her sex partner and boss. The fight resulted in Patience boiling hot water adding pepper to it and pouring it on Elizabeth, who sustained severe burns.

Young couple found dead inside a car in Kano

A man and a woman, both in their twenties, were found dead inside a Peugeot 406 car two days ago at Kundila quarters in Kano.

The young man has been identified as Abubakar Abba by his brother Ahmad Lawan Maduwa who owns the car with the registration number AW 576 KMC while the young lady has also been identified as Ummul khair Muhammad. The cause of their deaths has not been ascertained.

The woman who spent N850,000 on food in one day

It was revealed yesterday at the National Assembly probe that the Director General of the Security and Exchange Commission, Ms Arunma Oteh, spent N850,000 on food in one day, in violation of regulations on how chief executives can spend. She also allegedly stayed eight months in Transcorp Hilton Hotel Abuja at the cost of N30Million.

The House committee that probed her said she's compromised her position by engaging in a spending spree in the last one year she's been in office. But no one said anything abut her resigning.

DIG, three others killed in helicopter crash today in Jos

A police surveillance helicopter crashed in Jos today Wednesday March 14th, killing all four people on board, including a Deputy Inspector-General of Police, John Haruna. Others killed were the DIG's orderly, the helicopter pilot and an engineer. The helicopter crashed into a house, injuring but not killing anyone on the ground.

The helicopter had been deployed to survey some areas in Jos following Sunday's unrest in the city.

The brother, Goodie Ibru and wife, Maiden Ibru, of the late Guardian publisher who died in November 2011, have dragged themselves to the federal high court, Lagos, fighting over the shut down or otherwise of a company belonging to the late publisher and his brother.

Rapper Jahborne stabbed 12 times, survives attack

The rapper, real name Arinze Iheme, was stabbed 12 times on Saturday March 10th around his home in the Isolo area of Lagos. He said some unidentified men attacked him that day, stabbed him in the head, chest and arm and left him on the street to bleed to death. Fortunately friends found him and rushed him to the hospital where he received treatment and was stitched nine times. The incident has been reported to the police but the people who attacked him are yet to be caught.
