Hours after Alimodu Sheriff declared the Port Harcourt Convention suspended because of several court cases, the party delegates who were at the Port Harcourt convention ground, agreed to go ahead with the convention.

They dissolved the National Working Committee of the party thereby sacking Alimodu Sheriff and immediately approved the nomination of former Governors of Kaduna state and Anambra state, Ahmed Makarfi and Obi as Caretaker committee chairman and secretary respectively. The two officers were sworn in immediately.

"This is to inform our supporters nationwide, all the delegates to the National Convention in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State that the National Convention has been suspended. This is due to the numerous court cases and the directives from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to supervise elections into some offices. The 2016 Natonal Convention is suspended to allow time for the cases in court to be resolved. The Party regrets any inconveniences arising from this suspension.

5 police officers arrested in connection with torture and death of Fed. University of Agriculture student

The Commissioner for Police in Benue state, Paul Yakadi, yesterday ordered the arrest of no fewer than five policemen of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS in the state in connection with the torture and death of a student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi identified as Samuel Chimezie Emeagwu on Monday May 16th. Their arrest was ordered after the news about the incident went viral yesterday May 20th.
