Erm, the new First Lady wore a N10m watch for her official portrait?

My hand is not in this one o....lol. I found the allegation on The Breaking Times. Read what they wrote below...
Investigations by Breaking Times on Monday revealed that Aisha Buhari, wife of the President of Nigeria wore a Cartier Baignoire Folle 18-Carat White Gold Diamond Ladies Watch that cost £34,500 to President Buhari’s inauguration on Friday, May 29. The equivalent of this at the current CBN foreign exchange rate of N303 to £1 is N10, 453, 000.
The Cartier Baignoire Folle 18-Carat White Gold Diamond Ladies Watch comes in a case made of rhodiumised white gold set with brilliant-cut diamonds. On the side of the case is an octagonal crown set with a diamond. The case is 44mm high, 35mm wide and 10mm thick and is covered by glare-proof sapphire crystal glass.

President Muhammadu Buhari was elected riding on the wave of strong anti-corruption, integrity and pro-masses sentiment. This shocking extravagance by Mrs. Buhari runs contrary to earlier indications that the Buharis are modest and the President, a pastoral farmer with 150 cows, barely raised the money to pay for his presidential nomination form.

On my 25th birthday,my dad spent a whole lot of money to get me a limited edition encrusted omega wrist watch.that was 16 years ago.The first time I wore it after almost 9 years of owning it,the head of the panel interviewing me for a position became aggressive ,insinuating that I was dating someone to be considered for the position and finally spat it out that my watch speaks for itself.
Long story short,it is probably a gift Linda.you carry million naira bags like a lot of us.at her level, its not a big deal
Some people collect bags, others collect something more worthwhile like watches, jewelry etc
But I see you are the secret voice of the pdp.goodluck with that.please remember to also report the good

Personally I would not spend that amount of money on a watch, but as I understand she previously owned a very lucrative Beauty Parlour, so why not reap the rewards. Or someone could have given her the watch as a gift or god forbid it could be a replica! I believe its very unfair that we are so quick to link purchasing expensive items with corruption.

21st June. Treat your Dad to something special this Fathers Day :)

Unknown said...

This is what we call political distraction. She must have owned the watch before swearing in. Its either she bought it or got a gift after her husband won the election and became president elect. This has nothing to do with our 3 major problems Electricity, Insecurity and Corruption. So please let this woman be. Check out Patience Jonathan Estate in Abuja

Is this Nigeria's problem?... What if the wristwatch is a gift? What if this woman herself doesn't even know the value or price of the wristwatch?... Its good to checkmate our public office holders but while we're doing that, it's necessary we apply common sense.... How sure are you that Linda Ikeji doesn't have a N10m wristwatch? I am not one to make comments on blogs but I feel a need to speak to this. I think it is unfair to criticize Buhari over his wife's extravagance. You Linda, in a past blog said Mrs Buhari had a beauty institute, one of a kind in Kaduna. Why would you suppose she did not buy the watch herself? What does that have to do with her husband's modesty! Surely, she can afford it if she had a thriving business, just as you can afford your expensive bags, which run in to thousands of dollars. Let's be cautious of mindless criticism. Thankfully she wore this watch before she stepped into her role as First Lady, when everyone would have sworn the money for it is from government coffers.
