So this is not peculiar to Nigeria. Soldiers are humans too and can be expected to react the same way too.

This was exactly the same way the Nigerian army massacred millions of igbos in the SE during the civil war. Even then, they came under international criticism and eventual embargo on sales of weapons by the US and it's western allies (except Russia). The same scenario is playing out again in this war against Boko haram. The army is a professional force and not a militia or crimininal gang, and so must follow statutory procedure in the discharge of their duties. The answer to lawlessness is not another lawlessness. This generational culture of lawlessness and impunity has to end now. Buhari has to correct this age-long misconduct of our forces now that he's a democrat.
