Oh dear! See what a LIB reader claims he spotted in Agege
A LIB reader swears he was somewhere in Agege, Lagos yesterday when he spotted a man sitting down with a horn on his back. Can anyone explain how this is possible?
Hahahahahaa. ..wey that LIB reader let him bring his head make i konk am for am..This is pure photoshop. That LIB reader photoshoped this picture for you gullible ones not me.
Its a traditional remedy for backache!! D lower part of d back is slit(just little)wit razor den a native medicine is rubbed on d wound and d horn placed there. Its believed that d horn suck out all d diseases on d spinal cord!
Abbah it's just a local old school doctors solution to expel blood clotting. They use the horn to drain out the dead blood in human body. Hausa call it "kaho"
Yes,,its a traditional way of removing bad blood from the body,,the spot in which the horn is has been spice with a blade...its no big deal..tradition they called it.
The horn is used to form a blood clot which incisions will be made on. It is often practice by malam "fari fari; local barbers in order to relieve pain and swelling.
This is treatment called 'cupping' in English and 'Hijma' in Arabic it is an Islamic method of treatment it is used for pain, for stroke rehabilitation and many other ailments. It is also practised in the west but they use glass cupping method instead of the traditional horn. It is practised in Nigeria mainly in the North by Muslims.
And that reader couldn't be scared enough to take photos of it? What if the man had seen you talking pictures of him? And Linda that's Nigeria...everything is possible
This is not horn, clearly looks like a weapon tied to his waist. You can see that around his waist look unlevelled to other part of his body... see noozyes.blogspot.com
Linda from all indications he might be a northerner, it is a process of sucking out (Bad Blood) meaning any excess fluid in any part of the body due to swelling or injury. And it is performed by Wanzami( local Hausa men that move about with shaving bags). It's very common in the north where I come from.
I have seen this placed severally on my grandfather many years ago. It is the Hausa way of treating chronic pains and more so, to extract bad blood out of the veins. Before that horn is placed on any part of the body, incisions will be made first. Then, horn is placed. on the pointed part of the horn, there is a small hole. The Hausa native doctor will then place his mouth on the horn and suck out bad blood. Though, this will not touch his mouse in any way. After a couple of hours, the horn is the removed. It is a way of getting bad contaminated blood out of the body. It is a fast and effective way of removing blood clot from the body. Usually, blood extracted this way usually appear black. The treatment continues until bright red appears or when pains subdued.
It's possible, cut the mouth of the horn to create a hole, use honey wax to cover the hole, use a broom to make another small hole thru the wax, get a new razor blade, make tiny tiny cut on any part of the body you want to place the horn o then bring the horn place it on the area u make d tiny razor cut, put ur mouth on the horn and suck it until the horn is firm on d body then use ur teeth to cover the hole with the wax and that's all the horn will be there as long as you want it to be
I've seen the mallam in my house do it when I was younger. The guy had a reoccurring cough so one day we saw him concentrating with a horn on his chest for about an hour. It's a method of treatment which they believe in I guess.
This ain't strange, and there's nothing new here, it's a traditional way of extracting bad blood off the system, na wa for that lib reader sef,to think human being can develop horn at the back when animals don't.
FREEBORN ZINALIMA , PLEASE STOP BEING TRIBALISTIC AND IGNORANT. ARE THE IBO'S EXEMPT FROM THESE THINGS YOU ACCUSE OTHER TRIBES OF. WHAT YOU DO NOT REALISE IS THAT YOU GIVE IBO'S A BAD NAME.
Hello Linda, just as said by many, it is an age long method of reducing pain or removing an ailment from different parts of the body especially waist pain. It is called "cupping" and in Nigeria, it is practiced mainly by the Northerners: specifically by local barbers called "wanzamai" Small incisions are made on the trouble spot and the horn placed over the cuts. A plastic cellophane popularly called "santana" is put inside the horn and air is sucked from a hole at the tip of the horn until the horn stays put (sunction). After a while, the blood that collects in the horn coagulates and it is believed that bad blood (the source of the pain or ailment) has been removed from the body. Ironically, the "patients" get some kind of relief afterwards perhaps because they belief.
Hello Linda, as said by many, it is a common practice especially in Northern Nigeria in removing "bad blood" from the body believed to be the source of pain or the cause of an ailment in the body. The horn is kept in place through suction.
