A few weeks back, some people (one of them a LIB reader who sent in the story and photos) saw this beautiful baby stone dead dumped at the canal before UNILAG maingate, at Abule Oja. They alerted the social workers at the Family Welfare Centre at Birrel Sabo, who came immediately and removed the baby from the canal. The LIB reader took some photos and sent to me...he said seeing that dead baby in that canal was the worst thing he had ever seen...and was in shock for days.
It's the saddest thing to see really. A child! Whoever did this, how dare you? Even if the child died at home or something, why not a proper burial? Incredibly sad. If you have stomach to, then see the beautiful baby after the cut...

Please people,lets educate people that they can take their babies to motherless homes if they are not finacially capable as they will just tell the matrons in charge their challenge and they will only be required to bring little stuffs or nothing sef cos this is callous o..i cant carry a child for 9mths in my belly and now dump my baby inside canal..better still,take a bus to banana island or all this rich people places and drop the baby in front of their house and am sure they will take the baby to motherless home or adopt the child after necessary legal issues. This is really GROSSSSSS and so unfair.
A child was swept away into the canal in June this year at Gbagada. Who knows whether this is the body?
The evil that humans do. This is just sad and a very evil act. But there is always in most cases an underlying social situation that leads people to doing such acts. We need to improve our welfare system and the awareness on information concerning social welfare issues.May God forgive whoever dump that child and may the circumstances that led to that dumping be completely removed in the person's live.
Rather unfortunate, as a new mom it's very hard for me to look at the picture. I just hope the child didn't suffer too much, we can only assume what happened. The mother whom you have all cursed may not even be responsible, the child may have been kidnapped as a commentator mentioned. The child may have been ill and died and for whatever idiotic reason did not get buried with the respect accorded to a human. Whatever the case, may God rest his/her soul. Very sad.
I am in tears right now......whoever did dis never deserved God's blessing in the first place,,,,,there are so many women who will give everything to have a child........R.I.P little one.....
