maybe to put up in their shrines and do voodoo or something. so they are still senselessly killing elephants for their ivory tusks? SAD.
lol linda
these are artifacts
do you even realise how much one of those tusks go for?
ivory is a precious gem made from tusks aside from that people use tusks as status symbols in their homes as decoration just like you see animal skin et al
@alicia lwkmd
shrines and voodoo
i cant shout!
Nigeria na wa
What do Nigerians want with elephant tusk bi ko nu? You said my mind. lol. Brava Linda
Dont u knw we love rare and exotic stuffs in 9ja
Linda which kind of question are you asking? as if you no be igbo girl....go ask the dibia in your village.
1) voodoo. yes j at 10:46am. used symbolically in power juju. used in coronations etc
2) status symbols in homes.
3) made into jewelry
The final destination of those tusk is probably not Nigeria.
The price for one elephant tusk when finished is about $8000 USD. So 115 pieces X 8000 = $920,000.00 GBOSA!
An elephants’ tusks are a blessing and curse. Blessing because they give a elephants a true majesty that rise them above other animals as well and being of use for various tasks. A curse because man’s avarice for ivory has led to the senseless slaughter of hundred of thousands of the magnificent animals.

Ogwu egooo!!
R u for real? Those ivory bracelets traditional rulers and princes wear where do u think they come from? This question is kind of daft!
Gosh, I feel like raining insults on ANNON @ May 7, 2011 10:55 PM but I don't want to swoop to your level.
In case you don't know, the only daft question is the one that was never asked.
Knowledge is power, so there is nothing wrong in asking questions and there is definitely nothing wrong with the question Linda asked.
Anon@7.55pm u still ended up descending to whatever level. Linda asked the question as though nigerians were doing something illegal with the elephant tusks.
i seriously don't believe that Nigeria was its final destination though. its just easier to smuggle things through nigeria because of its poor security and you can easily bribe people to allow it. so, not surprised.
This upsets me so much. Imagine how many elephants they killed only for their tusk!
BTW it's that ivory they seek.
BTW Annon 2:49PM. IT'S ILLEGAL!!!
seriously, poor elephants. Can we just leave these animals alone?
