Previously convicted former governor of Edo State, Chief Luck Igbinedion has been declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) following fresh discoveries that he fraudulently diverted Edo State Government’s Afribank shares valued at $6.2 million (N961m) and government’s Access Bank Plc shares valued at $775, 000 (N120m) amongst others for his personal use.
I hope they put him in jail for 100 years. Shame on the fools who voted for him. In this election people will repeat same mistakes of voting the wrong people into office. What's happening in North Africa will one day happen in Nigeria. Nigeria is a very rich country but have nothing to show for it. What this man did was wrong but it was nothing compared to the billions yar'adua and his wife took. This info is currently bring surpressed by the current president, goodluck jonathan. I read the info on a dutch website. Goodluck jonathan and his administration are rotten, corrupt and are, in terms of corruption, are not different from sane abacha, olusegun obasanjo or ibrahim babagida. Money laundry law in malaysia and UAE, especially Dubai needs to be tightened by those countries because of nigerian politicians because that is where a lot of them, especially, the muslims, build their multi million dollar mansions, invest their money, send their kids to achool and obtain medical treatment, etc. If naija pitician cant hide or launder his money overseas, they all will think twice. No politician would want his stolen loot stached where the govt or new administration can confidticate it and jail them. This is why they all hide their loot abroad. The eu parliament is planning to ban present and past Nigeria government officials who corruptly enriched themselves from entering eu countries. The ban will extend also to the immediate family of the individuals. It would mean they or/and their families can't launder their loot in eu, come here for education or medical treatment. Similar law is operation on the USA.
I totally agree with anon 1.37 I say amen to that if those countries can pass those laws into effect because as of right now they are part of the problem now lucky igbenedion is one fellow that disappointed a lot of Nigerians You will think a young chap like that would've transformed benin. all that time 8 years and nothing to show for it? I mean Nigerians are easy to deal with most people will throway face at a thief that is doing some work eg Saraki this is not saying I condone it but these useless man just wasted all that time for nothing and nothing to show for it except enrich his pockets sad case!
unfortunately for those cheering the EU ban, if the EU will not allow corrupt Nigerian politicians and their families in, there will be other nations ready to welcome these people with open arms- Ghana, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, China, etc- these corrupt people will always find ways of working around the ban. In any case, not all those who are corrupt are easily spotted and it is nearly always difficult to prove that someone is corrupt, especially in a country where some people work as civil servants or bankers and private business people. how can you tell whether the person's money came from his office job or from his private business? I think that as a society, we ought to be more serious about weeding out corruption
