Photos: Twitter user attacked and robbed on Lekki-Epe Expressway narrates her encounter with the police

A traumatized Nigerian @FizzyThatcher took to Twitter to narrate how she was attacked and robbed along Lekki-Epe Expressway, right in the middle of traffic, and a short distance from the police and LASTMA points. The young woman also said it was the third time she had been attacked since she moved to Lagos barely a year ago. See her tweets after the cut.

Lazy keh. Can a lazy man leave his bed when he should be sleeping and set out to steal. without thinking of the bad side of it.
They are not lazy and are ready to work.
i cant steal tho, but hunger wan kill man.

My own view tho.

My dear, Nigerian police is something else, they blame victims for their incompetence. It's really sad... May God replenish all that was lost. #ItsWell

Too bad! I don't know whether Nigerian police will ever be competent in this life.. I think it has reached a point where motorcycles should be banned in Lagos state.. These hoodlums always rob and evade traffic jam with the motorcycles

Na me talk am!

You called them names on Twitter: "stupid officers" and you expected help from them.

Only God knows what your words and actions were to the Police after the robbery incident.

Just mind the your manners when approaching people. Police are not super humans , they can only try their best. Good luck to you

Madam dnt let me talk too much o. Why will U not hide valuable items in your car. U just come Lagos? Sorry sha.

Rehearse and learn how to react in every emergency. It takes a few seconds to recover from shock if you had practiced. Pull your hand break. Cut the ignition. Deliver a punch the attacker's lips, eye or nose. That gets them dazed. Step out of your car fast and raise an alarm. They will be caught before they can run away. Very often people are not aware you are being attacked because there are so many hawkers all over during slow traffic. Always windup and press the safety lock in slow traffic. Keep a screw driver nearby as a counter weapon.

mtchew! Even police go collect cut from them! Sit down there.

Hmmmmmmmm its a pity that it happen but some of the victims are to blame self. if she has been rob 3 times within a year then there is something she is doing that is not right. I drive that road almost every evening the police are over worked and i see pple displaying phone on dash board to show GPS. i am like are they aware of the city they leave in. we just have to be vigilant that all no matter the area. Mainland is even worst.

These men in uniform are a waste of our taxes! Yet the govt is looking for more ways to tax its citizens and further impoverish the already impoverished citizens.
To be honest, citing a police van in traffic doesn't even give me any reassurance because these guys flee as soon as gunshots are heard.
Sorry for what happened and the way you were addressed. If you have the connection, please take it up. Enough is enough.
I really feel bad for those innocent hawkers they picked as they have just begun their journey as prisoners awaiting trial for years in our over crowded prisons.

It’s so sad that this happens almost every day on that stretch of road. Few weeks ago they robbed a woman driving a brand new silver hundai creta just ahead of me in traffic. it happened just before igbo efon roundabout at about 6.38 in the morning. This guys was just strolling down the pavement looking into the cars, he passed in front of my car and i actually stopped thinking he wanted to cross the road, the just went up to the passengers side of the next car and smashed the glass, the woman was screaming, he made away with her wallet and phone, passed right in front my cars, swiftly crossed the road and hopped on a waiting bike. apparently this has been happening, i was in shock. Fast forward two weeks later, i was drivng to work, this time approaching elegusi roundabout (where the conoil and oando filling station) about same time i saw this same man! yes i recognised him strolling down the pavement, this time with some accomplice, looking for a prey and there were two bykes waiting for them at the other side of the road (in front of worldoil filling station). About two yards away was the police vehicle, they know them, know how they operate, what stops them from taking action? i drive to work in fear even with all my stuff in the boot. Why can’t this law enforcement take a proactive action? Countless incidences has been reported to them. please people be safe, especially females driving alone , try not to drive on the extreme left (going towards v.i) , stay in the middle of the road and put your bag and stuff in the boot. May God keep us safe.
