Ayo Fayose says he has gone on indefinite strike

Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose, says he has gone on indefinite strike just as the state civil service are currently embarking on an indefinite strike following unpaid salaries. In a live broadcast in the state today June 4th, Fayose said
“I want to tell workers that I have placed myself on indefinite strike in solidarity with them. I share your pains, but it is rather unfortunate that a man can’t give what he doesn’t have,” he said in a broadcast.
Presently, I am handicapped and there is nothing I can do. I appeal that you put the interest of the state above everything, because the present position affects everybody. I have told you the true position of the finances of the state, of which you had played critical roles in allocation of federal allocations to relevant sectors which shows how well I had carried you along since the dwindling revenue to the state commenced. During my first term, I mean, 2003 to 2006, I used to pay salary of workers by 21st of every month. But the present situation is very unfortunate and we have to learn how to live with it until the country wriggles out of it and things will change for better. I want to say that I will be expecting you back to your offices when you are ready to return to work. I shall be expecting you.”he said

He should also suspend his salary and that of his executive to show solidarity, secondly his mouth should go on strike too cus we've had enough of his mouth diarrhea . He left his duties as a governor to chase PMB shadow, shameless man! Big failure! I just pity the people of Ekiti cus they dont know the mistake the have as governor. They should chase him out of the government house the same way he was chased away in 2006 cus he doesn't have chinkpom to offer in politics generally ,psychiatric hospital is where he belongs!

What sort of utterance is this? Does that mean the state is now on autopilot? Wonders shall never end. Can't this man be removed from office before he runs the state aground?

CLOWN! Dwindling revenue ..... yet you never forget to take your huge security vote every month, from the same dwindling allocation. Ekiti people deserve the character they 'elected' as governor.

My thoughts exactly. Mr. President too can't give what he doesn't have.
Unfortunately, Nigeria too has decided to go into a mini civil war at the wrong time when they should allow him to work on positive things. He is busy fighting all sorts of renegades

Unknown said...

So no more sharing of rice and other stomach infrastructure items??? Call off your strike o, cos ekiti peeps got to eat

It's unfortunate that most of the present governors are ill-equipped and prepared to deal with the present winter season which our dear country currently finds itself.

But leadership can be learnt, even on the job. There's no room for anger or disillusion or wishful thinking in leadership. Not when the lives of hundreds of thousands o civil servants and their dependents are relying on their politically elected governor to figure out way out of this mess.

I think the responsible thing to do as an executive governor should be to assemble the state's business gurus, political thinkers and heavyweights to have a strategy session and figure out a way from this recession.

Perhaps the state may not need more loans, but a reformulation, regraming and restrategizing of their present human resources into areas of higher demand- like agriculture.

If the government can't feed the people, the people should be give lands, seeds, fertilizer and support to ensure they can feed themselves and other Nigerians.

He should be impeached. This isn't even funny, it's pathetic and embarrassing to the country as a whole. A governor can't even generate his own revenue. Unbelievable. Just don't collect salary as you strike. Not like he does anything anyways

Anonymous said...

Some states need to go. Any state that needs federal allocation to pay salaries is not worth it.what work are they doing then? Work that is not generating revenue? And this clown is bold to say he can't pay salaries b'cos of low allocation.

Anonymous said...

He should resign honourably.A state with one of the highest number of professors in different fields including economics doesn't has economic advisers because the Governor behaves like Agberu.Tim71

Hw can dey even elect dis insane person as governor 4 d second tym?his salary should also go on strik.never heard of a governor going on strik, never

Unknown said...

My erudite governor, please educate these ignorant nigerians and tell them that you are putting ur salary on hold but not ur discharge of ur constitutional duties. Also tell them that even though u have suspended receiving salary, its not enough in comparison to the suffering of the masses, but you will do your best and leave the rest to God. God bless you my governor.
