Photo: Alpha beach overflow this morning

Here's a pic of the surrounding areas of Alpha Beach. There was a beach overflow this morning. Ocean View Estate is seriously effected including surrounding houses. Squatters around the beach have been rendered homeless. Are the people who live around this area in any danger...? Could it get worse than this? See more photos after the cut...

If this happened to homes not necessarily close to the beach, Imagine what will one day happen to that Eko atlantic project? God forbid.
BTW, Lekki has some really bad drainage systems that need to be fixed. Even after raining, you still see stagnant water in some places.

Help should be provided and very fast b4 rape and related cases starts existing in that area....

This is the result of what they are doing at the bar beach. U guys should go to bar beach and see what is happening there. So what do they expect that will happen here before , when dey don turn bar beach to land the water will definitely disturb the pple living here now.

I laugh when I see property being sold for huge money on the island and lekki knowing how many meters below sea level it is.Time magazine published an article some years ago about the folly of land being highly priced in an area where a sudden rise(in centimeters ) of the sea level could submerge large portions of it overnight.my two cents,it will only get worse, land on the mainland is underpriced;but not for long.

When we have vast land in ikorodu, badagry and sango they are busy sand filling and building houses on top water. God that created dry land for man to be living is not a fool.

FUTURE LEADER said...

THE SANDFILLING FOR ECO ANTLANTIC AND AROIND THE LAGOS LAGOON LACK REAL ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT WILL PRODUCE THESE DISASTROUS RESULTS AND MUCH MORE. WATER FINDS ITS LEVEL. GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE IS VERY REAL. I GUESS NO ONE BOTHERED TO NOTICE WHY CHEVRONS TOOK PAINS AND BILLIONS TO RAISE THEIR NEWEST LAND ACQUISITION ALMOST 2METERS ABOVE THE EXISTING GROUND LEVEL.

Anonymous said...

Dey don't have drainage in dat area @ all nd blive mee it's not d 1st dis water is overflowing. @ times it flows even all most 2 d express. May GOD help dem

Anonymous said...

I am not against riches or someone living in affluence but we do it most times in ignorance. people started blocking beaches and other water body to build houses without recourse to proper drainage system. this is just d beginning . I cannot buy a houses in those area at lekki where they reclaimed land without planning for drainage. some day some time , like new York city and part of new jersey palava last yr ,water go vex and all will go under.

Anonymous said...

They should channel it to river niger

Unknown said...

It is a pity.pls find a way out of dat place because d beach is angry and might come in full force.

Unknown said...

It is a pity.pls try and relocate from dire because it could come in force.

I was in my company car yesterday and we passed through bar beach i was screaming the extent fashola and his men are pushing bar beach further away.My driver was like the water will find its way into other beaches and that is exactly what is happening now.

Anonymous said...

I feel for pipu residing in dat area

Idyllic Prince said...

when they are reclaiming bar beach Alfa beach will over flow, it is called lack of proper planning

Idyllic Prince said...

the reason for the over flow is not far from Bar beach reclaim

Anonymous said...

God wii help them oooooooooo

Anonymous said...

Big man, big trouble. All of u should berra relocate to the mainland ooo and join fabulous me. You can be sure of 18hrs of electricity each day, easy access to transportation and dry streets despite the amount of rainfall, lol. Una sorry oooo

== Dobbie ==

FYI: To those that dont realize... most of the houses on that road were built long before the relatively recent rapid encroachment of the waters. The shoreline was quite a distance away from the last house on the road, until recently. This *IS* a federal govt responsibility, & its not just abt alpha beach, its the entire Island that is at stake. The reason for the recent surge is debatable, but a lot has been said abt projects such as Eko atlantic.
