JUSTICE’S INDEPENDENCE CHARGE
PLEASE, READ AND SHARE

I will rather live in a failed country and be a successful individual than vice versa. My father, so many years ago told me that failure is a choice. Also, in the pages of the few motivational books I have been opportune to read, ‘failure sets in when you stop trying.’ Some even say that success means to rise up many times more than you have fallen. But, on this Independence period, I, Ordinary Justice, have no intention to motivate or confuse you. I also have no intention to say some ambiguous or impracticable stuff. On the contrary I shall be dropping what I call FACTS.
In the 53rd year of this country and in the twenty something years I have trodden upon the soil of this our collectively called motherland, I see people wearing long faces as if they are bereaved. When I inquired, I found out that their headache is the failure of government rather the loss of a beloved one. Instead of rising up to the occasion and doing something to oust or transform the leadership, they gather for hours discussing and murmuring under the table about how the country and her leadership has failed. The end result of this long hours of unnecessary discussion and argument is that, they themselves end up in idleness. An expression I saw somewhere says, “An activist is not a person that discovers that the river is dirty but he who does something to clean it up.”
The thing is, ‘As we never chop belle full for this country, there is no need expending the little energy we have arguing about the failure of government.’ In your locality, just try and be the change that you crave for. Rather than discuss the failure of this country, do your best not to contribute to her already decaying image. Always resist the temptation of sitting in your small office, school or home arguing about the leadership of this nation and blablabla; that’s a waist of precious time. If you must complain or probably argue, find your way to Nigeria Info, 95.1FM Abuja, Radio Nigeria and so many other media houses in the country. This way, your words will fall on the right ears and your grievance, I suppose, will be properly noted. Or better still, you can write to the National assemble or even the Presidency like I’m writing right now. If you ask me, instead of wailing and complaining to everyone you see on the road, I will rather you take to the street and protest PEACEFULLY.
I used to tell people that until we decide as individuals not as a nation, to do the right things, we will forever continue going round and around. Until we stand out as individuals to say NO to corruption and other issues that has held us down, we will continue to sweat under air conditioner. ‘Forget’ Mr. President and do what you have got to do! Sincerely, sometimes I don’t even remember that I have a governor in my state until I hear his siren on the highway. However, I wake up each day and try as much as possible to do my best diligently. Nigeria may have failed in her fifty third year, but God forbid that you and I will fail. Let’s, to the best of our ability do our best every passing day. If fellow countrymen and women like the late Albert Achebe, Wole Soyinka, Chimamanda Adichie, Emeka Anyoku, Blessing Okagbare, Asa, Tuface and so many others could rise above the failures of this country, then why not you?
Nigeria may have failed woeful or however you want to put it, but I, ORDINARY JUSTICE (aka O.J) will NEVER fail! Of course, I have got a heavenly Father who does not fail.
HAPPY INDEPENDENCE!

Please my dear, do me a favour by sharing this article

A WORD TO A SLEEPING GIANT

BY JUSTICE E. EBEDE

Giant!
Potential giant of my time
The tropics is your home
Yet you trouble your own
Leaving them to smile through hopelessness
While you abound in beauty and splendor
O latent giant of the tropics
Where do we go from here?

Giant!
Glorified giant of Africa
You thrive like a midget
Dancing a ballet
You make your home unbearable for her own
Chasing rat when your house is on fire
Your wards scatter all over the world
O! Latent giant of our time.

Giant!
Potential giant of my time
You make us go haywire
At your hostile nature we cringe
At the ALUU four I frown
That armless species are endangered
Latent giant of the tropics
Rise up from this oppression!

Giant!
Crawling giant of the tropics
I cry,
That the bodies of the innocent litter the streets
Although not like in Sudan or Middle East
But explosion rock in the crowd of many
Now I hear that familiar sound in a Mall in Kenya
Who shall save this latent giant of the tropics?

Giant!
Struggling giant of my time
You strive every now and then
But with muscle power is taken after a tussle
Yet they bamboozle and embezzle
When we have no morsel to swallow
Latent giant of the tropics
Arise and arrest imposters in power!

Giant!
As you celebrate at this time
Your five decades and three
In abundance you fare like sucking
When shall you grow up?
Shall you forever remain a baby?
O! Latent giant of the tropics.
Why mop when they mess up the labour of our past heroes?

Giant!
Potential giant of my time
Why should BH insurgency counter your stride?
Shall we continue to live in a country?
Where ASUU is not a footballer yet she strikes more than Messi
Where a political party is one but doubles in the face of crisis
Where we have black gold yet poor and deprived
Where our flag portrays fertility yet we know Mr. Hunger

Potential giant of the tropics
I shall continue to see hope in your hopelessness
I see a future in your marginalized youths
In your desolate streets,
Shall we continue to hope and pray
Even as I search like Diogenes the critic
I have no doubt you will rise tomorrow from the dust of today!

I'm so intent to write nothing either for or against the 53rd birthday of Nigeria, but come to think of it, no matter how spoilt our nation is, we can't heartily disown or deny it because our nation remains our heritage. Even to those who detest being attributed to Nigeria, she remains their lineage. At times, I solemnly put aside everything on my mind and think about the future of Nigeria. Surprisingly, Nigeria holds out a catastrophic prospect in future "if" it continues like this. Hhmmn! Independence- to my myopic perception, is a practice of self-government and possibly, sovereignty of a nation. I can reiterate the fact that no country is utterly independent. Therefore, Nigeria is far from it in all ramifications we tend to assess. Firstly, are we to celebrate our epileptic electric power supply??
Secondly, are we independent of UN action and advisory intervention in matters like constant massacres and rebellion invasions??
Furthermore, is it the ever-growing height of corruption we are to commemorate?? Are we to applaud the nonchalant disposition of our president and his executives to courses of educational nature in our country?? Or is it the perpetuation of insecurity or the less prioritisation of agriculture amidst other sectors we are to celebrate?? To crown it all, are we assuring our president another ruling term or a joyous way of saying thanks for over 2000 Nigerians that have died in d past 3 years by coming together to shout hurray for Nigeria turning 53 years of no spectacular or rather commendable achievement??... Notwithstanding the above, I speak in oneness of young Nigerians, like you and I, in whom the destiny of Nigeria lies.

God,my prayer for this country is for you to hear the cry of the poor masses that cannot even afford one square meal a day, the cry of the poor children that their parents cannot even afford to feed, the cry of the great talented and intelligent youths of this country whose brains are being wasted and are being frustrated due to lack of employment after school, the poor masses who lack security and are prone to molestation by our so called force men and killing bh members, innocent people that were sent to prison for what they are innocent of.God please look down from heaven and remember this country, please put an end to these problems because your children have suffered enough. I am asking you this because i know you are the only One that has the final solution to all our problems in this country. All these i ask in the name of your son JESUS CHRIST,amen.

Is ds enough reason to say 'God punish Nigeria? That's a sad tin to say, if God punuishes Nigeria, coupled with all this u ve mentioned? Where will u be? D best we can do is continuous prayer n ask God 4 an intervention. If it's time 4 a revolution, then so b it. But 4 u 2 say God punish Nigeria, its so dumb, so u live n sustain urself here. Its's like asking God to punish a misbehaving child, no matter how some children turn out negative in d society atimes, der parents n family still pray 4 dem constantly, no parents or family can say bcos I have a child dat is misbehaving, so God punish ds child or destroy ds child, d pple involved jus keep praying. Its a sad utterance, no matter how it goes down, d Lord shall redeem us. Is it not human beings like us that are being slaughtered like cows in d north? Dnt they have d right to life? But down here south west we have a reason to thank God, despite d fact that it pinches us, we re still soldiering on. GOD BLESS NIGERIA, n may HE trouble all the troublers of ds great nation. May doom be their portion n cancer d icing on their lives in Jesus name....Amen.

A fool @40 is a fool forever! And a fool @ 53 is.......? Is time a revolution take place in this conutry. Nothing seen to be working. What are we even celebrating? is it the ASUU strite, bombing, looting, epiletic power supply, bad roads, deportation, denial of juctice, wickness of police n etc. Nigeria govt both now and then should be ashame of themselves. Well, all hope is not lost. Let all make a differance by ensuring that only credible leaders not politicians are voted into power in 2015 election. Let truely demonstrated that the lies in the people. God bls Niaja

Disgrace, diseases, problems, imprisonment, headache, death shall be d portion of every man and woman destroying ds great Nation. They shall know sorrow till death IJN....Amen. God will take ds nation, to His original plan 4 ds nation, d days of strife, woe, killings, Asuu strike, neglect, trampling on d innocent, etc shall soon pass away in Jesus name. Amen!!!!!!!! Jonathan met with the Queen of England.

He asked her, "How do you run such an efficient government? Are there any tips u can give to me? I want to help Nigeria."

"Well," said the Queen, "the most important thing is to surround yourself with intelligent people."

Jonathan frowned, and then asked,"But how do i know the people around me are really intelligent?"

The Queen replied, "Oh, that's easy, you just ask them to answer an intelligent riddle." The Queen pushed a button on her intercom. "Please send David Cameron in here, would you?"

David Cameron walked into the room and said,"Yes, your majesty?"

The Queen smiled and said, "Answer this riddle. David, your mother and father have a child, it is not your brother and it is not your sister. Who is it?" Without pausing for a minute David Cameron answered, "that would be me."

"Yes, very good," said the Queen.

Jonathan went back home to ask his Vice President Sambo.

JONATHAN: Answer this. Your mother and your father have a child, it's not your brother and it's not your sister, who is it?

SAMBO: "I'm not sure, let me get back to you."

He asked all his staff in the Office but none could give him an answer. Finally, one day, VP Sambo ran into Dora Akunyili. Sambo asked, Dora,

SAMBO: Your mother and father have a child and it's not your brother or sister, who is it?"

Dora answered sharply, "That's easy, its me!" Sambo smiled, and said "Thanks!"

Then he went back to speak with President Jonathan.

Sambo: Sir, I have the answer to that riddle, It's Dora Akunyili!

Jonathan got angry,he said to Sambo. "No wonder Nigeria isn't moving forward, I am surrounded by Dummies! The answer is David Cameron!"

WHO IS MORE INTELLIGENT?

I rest my case.

That our leaders is curropt does not mean God cannot bless Nigeria.

That we've been at home for 90days+ coz of ASUU does not mean God cannot bless Nigeria.

That boko haram or any millitary group keep killing our brothers and sisters doesnt not mean God cannot bless Nigeria.

That we've not seen good things come out from Nigeria for the past 53yrs doesn not mean God cannot bless Nigeria.

So my fellow citizens, let's stop complaining, cursing and abusing anyone... Today is not just Nigeria independence, today is also the begining of a new month and u re alive to witness it, so why let the independence overshadow the joy of being alive on the first day of the 10th month???

Let'stop all these negativity for a moment and thank God for our life and ask Him to continue to bless this great nation.

Happy new month.

GOD BLESS NIGERIA!

For every Nigerian who thinks there's nothing to celebrate today about Nigeria needs to have a re-think because if you're a citizen of nations like Somalia, Mali, Pakistan, Iraq, Afghanistan and many more, then you will appreciate the hand of God upon this nation.

When was the last time you fasted&prayed for Nigeria?
When was the last time you carried out a "change project" in your community?
Have you never been involved in corruption both @home & in your office?
When was the last time you prayed for our leaders?

You see! Building Nigeria is a collective effort of the Government & the people. America is what it is today because every American citizen is playing his/her role in making it a better place.

Rise up Oh Compatriots, let's build Nigeria, let's make Nigeria a habitable place for everyone. Nigeria is a land flowing with milk & honey and also our country, and all we have to do is to uphold our leaders in prayers and contribute our quota because "if the Lord doesn't build a city, those that build, build in vain".

"HAPPY 53rd INDEPENDENCE"
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria
God bless President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan
God bless the 36 state Governors & her indigenes.

I still don't understand u all, what are we celebrating? insecurity, boko haram, epileptic power supply, almost collapsing educational system, poor infrastructure, hardship for the pOor masses, that am still at home bcos of strike? the list is endless, a country where fuel has gone sky rocket, where salaries are not being paid, ordinary 18 thousand naira can't be implemented? due to incompetent hands running the affairs of this almost a failed country, a country where humans are being slaughtered like chickens at school, 50 student killed in one night? for the fact u all are privileged to be in a better condition doesn't mean others are, for the fact that life is better for me doesn't mean it is for some poor people somewhere who can't afford a decent meal or even eat three times a day, today should be aa day to be sober and pray for this country and not the other way round, I feel for those innocent student and their families, do you think dey will be happy at this time? Today should be a day to sit down and think and not for fun, it doesn't make any sense to me at all celebrating our independence, don't get me wrong, am not saying freedom is not sweet, yes it is, but are we really enjoying the benefit of it all? Can you go to the north and shout am from the south or east and am a christian? Today billions willl be spent celebrate but will it bring back the much needed solutions to the rising problems everywhere? We are not truly free so don't celebrate yet, celebrating upon nothing is not, celebrating on the pains of the poor, celebrating in one small peaceful zone while others are being held hostage or even in prison in their own houses because they dare not come outside is that what freedom is all about? @METROSKI

As we mark the 53rd year as an Independent Nation,I have not come to criticise NIGERIA,rather I have come to criticise NIGERIANS.....I'll start by reminding us that Nigeria,is just a land space somewhere in West Africa...Nigeria is what we make it out to be.If someone says Nigeria is a black country,or an English speaking country, its because her citizens are black and speak english too.Nigeria is not a person just like most people make it look like...almost every social network you stumble on,you will see Nigerians criticising themselves. Its now a normal thing to read "jokes" making fun of our dear country...in one way or the other,we are all guilty of this crime, but that doesn't mean it cannot be put to an end...Must we always wash our dirty linens outside??...if someone commits a crime,he/she blames it on Nigeria. If someone is having financial crises,he/she does same..The very little crimes we commit in secret places,go a long way in spoiling things in our dear Nigeria...No one comes out in the open and condemns his or her mother,or even himself or herself.so why are we always in a haste to condemn our"MOTHER",Nigeria....what we do not know is that when we condemn Nigeria,we are indirectly condemning ourselves..if Nigeria were to be left bare, and devoid of Human beings,do u think she would be ranked 3rd in the list of most corrupt countries in the world??.......Everyone wants it the easy way,no one wants to stress himself/herself...it is said that nothing good comes easy, but I have discovered that even bad things don't come easily....we all have great potentials.if only we could channel them into positive things, then our story will change for the better....people die everyday, but Nigeria is always here...you cannot plant yam and expect to harvest cocoyam.make a decision to put the "criticising" 2 an end today.Let's join hands and make our dear NIGERIA,a better place..it all depends on U and I.we are Nigerians, and our country is ours to protect..if we don't take care of our country, who will??
LONG LIVE NIGERIA!!!
LONG LIVE NIGERIANS!!!
HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!!!

And inspite of the rubbish taking place in my country, Nigeria will always be HOME.

I want to congratulate the true Nigerians for reaching this milestone in Nationhood. I say "true Nigerians" because as an Igbo man,I and most of my kinfolk do no recognise this so called 'Nigeria' as our country. As far am concerned,Nigeria is nothing but a 53 year old Jail term that my people and many in the south-south region have been subjugated to. The fact that some drunk English men sailed across the Athlantic 200 years ago and pointed guns at my fore-fathers and said "you are now Nigerians" does not make us a nation. Today, those white men have long gone home and it is us now pointing guns at each other and still shouting "you are Nigerians". Nigeria is nothing but a collection of ethnic groups who do not like each other and shouldn't be together. That's why the country has never and will never work. Nigeria is a colossal, experimentational disaster and the sooner we all realise this and divide this country up along ethnic and cultural affiliations, the better for everyone. The right to self determination is an inalienable right from God. So as you 'true Nigerians' celebrate this 53 year old 'mistake' called Nigeria. I will contemplate on a future nation called Biafra that we Igbos will one day call home. A nation which I know I will see in my life time, maybe even as early as 2015 if predictions are right.

Nigeria is a nation of zombies, where the living and the dead reside in the same abode. The rich think they can protect themselves in a veil of security, whilst the poor want to eat the rich. The rule of law is jungle justice, no discipline, no order. Celebrate you mumu's, cos time waits for no man. Revolution or Death.

Nigeria @ 53, nothing is working; religious crisis, ethnic tension, abysmal power supply, moribund manufacturing sector, anomalous level of unemployment, hetoroclite academic system, etc.

Ɣεάђ, so it might seem but look at the bright side, the Brits didn't come here cos they love Africa. No, they came here to plunder our resources. We've made mistakes no doubt but we must push ση as α nation. Things were not all rosy when we were under Britain, even if they were, what sane person would choose to remain in prison because govt provides him/her free meals, free electricity, even free rent.. None I guess. The problem of my compatriots is sincere ignorance & conscientious stupidity.

The road ahead might be rough but with tenacity, steadfastness, & collective desire to make giant strides in all spheres of our national well-being, we'll get there. It might be painful & long but its attainable.
