Nigeria now import diesel and gas from Niger Republic

Kano Controller, Department of Petroleum Product (DPR), Alhaji Sayyadi Suleiman Abubakar has revealed that Nigerian Marketers now import AGO and Liquefied Petroleum Gas(LPG) from neighboring OPEC member country, Niger Republic.

Briefing reporters in his office on the activities of his department, Alhaji Sayyadi Suleiman Abubakar explained that the two products are in the exclusive list of deregulated items, adding that “it could be acquired from anywhere and sold in the Nigerian market.

Alhaji Abubakar said that such importation does not attract any financial commitment from the federal Government, maintaining that the DPR does not regulate their market prices unlike the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).

The Controller who responded to a question on whether the Department has the power to regulate prices said, “yes, Nigeria now imports AGO, that is Diesel, and LPG, otherwise known as Gas from Niger Republic, and  I want to state clearly that this venture does not attract any financial commitment from the federal Government”.

Alhaji Abubakar further revealed that the Department has sealed no fewer than 10 service stations and destroyed two illegal fuel dumps within and around Kano, in the last couple of weeks, for selling products above the official pump price stated that the “affected companies were appropriately sanctioned.”

Why should we be importing those when we can do same here? Where are our refineries? You don't need to answer pls, we all know it already. Nigeria is like a Fish in an ocean that is still paying for water. How sad! Smh... Corruption is the culprit.

Fuel scarcity will continue to be a pervasive scourge in our national development efforts. When the fifth largest crude oil supplier to the United States is importing finished petroleum products from a banana republic like Niger, it symbolizes a serious threat to our national security, if we think we have one to protect. This petroleum poverty paradox is utterly embarrassing if a country so blessed with the sweetest crude oil on earth will have to look elsewhere for paraffin and gas supplies. Nigeria’s crude is adjudged in the international crude oil market as one of the best. It’s inexpensive to explore and extract. It’s been said that you actually stick a straw to the ground and Nigeria crude oil will come oozing out. And it is so light that you can almost funnel it into the fuel tank of your car and drive away without any further refining. Look at what God gave us, Nigeria. Some sleek Nigerian money bags must have set up those offshore refineries in Niger, only to export the refined products to us.

This is just annoying...a king eating the crumbs falling from the table of a servant is not only absurd but an unclothed foolishness.
Nigeria is a case of a blessed nation surrounded by a thug of snail-like, thievery and visionless kleptomaniacs. She uncontrollably sheds blood instead of tears yet our cretins in the name of leaders sit in the comfort of their homes and watch her moan.
Mother, I console thee...

So sad, God has blessed us with such an abundance of natural resources yet we somehow can't find a way to come together, coordinate ourselves and transform it into national wealth.

Check out this online interactive oil & gas map of Nigeria showing all our oil block concessions and their operators:

Even Lagos as a state is about to enter oil production this year.
