Coup d'etat: Ecowas suspends mali

The Economic Community Of West African States (ECOWAS), a regional group of sixteen countries, with a mission to promote economic integration among its states, today suspended Mali from all decision making, pending when the military junta returns the country to democracy. The African Union (AU) already suspended Mali last week.

You will all recall that Malian soldiers went on state TV last week Thursday March 22nd to declare that they had suspended the nation’s constitution and seized power in a coup after the government failed to quell a nomad-led rebellion in the north.

Don't really think Mali will care. They probably haven't gained much from being in ECOWAS.

The plane carrying the 4 African Presidents on their way to Mali was turned back because of demonstrators at the airport.
They were shouting "Shame on ECOWAS. Mali is for us."
"There was not enough security, so we are going back to Abidjan." "The meeting is now going to be held at the Abidjan airport."

So Blaise Compraore was one of the 4? Same goon who killed Thomas Sankara? Pots and kettles.

Africans will continue to wallow in d dark,is democracy d best for of govt? How well has it worked for us and other African states? How effective are d Au and ECOWAS self?Let the military in Mali not give up until they actualise their dream of a better govt for their country. -Palo
