Nationwide Strike Commences. Lagos Roads Empty

Lagos roads are empty.
The only people on the roads now are peaceful protesters. If you must go out, please put leaves on your car, it's a sign of solidarity. #OccupyNigeria

The very much avoidable strike has begun. I wonder however should the Private Universities join in tinyurl.com/7kg7cas

Good start. Hope PHCN & Petroleum distribution unions are involved in this strike o! Because if they are not, the strike no go last o! Cripple power & energy supply and the battle is over & done with. "Victoria Ascerta". Y? Everything is connected to these 2 sectors. Even Jonathan & his cohorts go hear am.

If these unions are not involved, na brief holiday we just give ourselves o! People go just go buy fuel, power their gen, sit at home & watch odas in the sun shouting themselves to death & even die from police gunshots. After 3-4 days, dem go come tire & go siddon 2. Who be fool? We dey road dey shout, u dey house dey watch TV. If d struggle becomes successful, isn't it to the benefit of all? Strike don dey get K-leg dey come be that. C y those 2 unions are important? Dey help u EFFECTIVELY shut down everywhere. 4get Jonathan, his buses & NURTW "agberos" he claimed his handing over the buses to. Na their piss dem wan take power the buses?

I am saying all this becos if this struggle fails, Jona wit im pple no go fear or respect us again o! Occupy Nigeria? We shall be the one to occupied forever. And that would be very sad indeed.

nawa ooo linda have you seen the clip form aljazera tv on the interview of ngozi iwaela my goodness linda you really need to bring the clip to you LIB readers i tell you it was a total disgrace on her argument on fuel subsidy removal. infact i was ashamed as i am an economist myself and boy was she a total idiot in the interview.

thank you for all the hard work on this subsidy you have been letting use know. it is your blog, sahara reporters and nairaland that make us know what is happening. please bring the interview clip to your blog and let your readers hear the nonsense that came out of ngozi yeye mouth.

Good one! Serves them right!! By this action they will know that Nigerians should not be taken for granted, for fools. Jonathan should be impeached and shown the way out! He has disappointed himself, his state, his people and most of all the Nigerian electorates!! That is the only viable option for now.

Occupy Nigeria is apparently not happening in the whole of southeast, vehicls are evry where going about their business, while the fuel filling staions are selling, PHCN are working and Banks are doing hide and seek game, thats my own report

its a real shame that my fellow nigerians havent woken up from their slumber.....if you are a real good citizen and what the better for Nigeria...you would approve this subsidy as it is a step in dealing with corruption...you people just dont get it...as for those sayin this is nt the right time ....there is never a right time as the cabals/oil executives would never surrender or get tired of stealin...the NLC is corrupt and leading the people ...open ur eyes my people how come there was no much protest of boko haram killing people but there is so much noise over subsidy that would better the economy?.....ever wonder y the corrupt leaders that be are sponsoring this protese?,...this is the right move for Nigeria as our future is uncertain...whether this is the right time or not no one knows........the only thing i ask and hope for is that i hope this government carries out the plan ...as it would be a travesty if they fail ...those that want the subsidy are only feeding the pockets of the corrupt leaders and throwing away the future of theri childred...again be wise...open ur eyes

linda infact i was speechless (which does not happen very often) when i read this response coming from a minister which is why this strike i tell you should remain indefinite..... read maku's stupidity below infact SMH with a very loud hissss!!!

I Was Handsomely Paid To Protest Fuel Subsidy Removal As Student Leader By Oil Marketers - Mr Labaru Maku

The Minister of Information, Mr Labarun Maku has revealed that his participation in protests against subsidy removal as a student leader was done ignorantly. Maku who was reacting to allegations in some quarters that he had derailed from his activism stated that he remembered vividly how agents of 'some big men' came to his hostel room to drive him to a hotel in town where he was given 'good' money to mobilize the student body against subsidy removal. He stated that as a young, ignorant and poor man looking for quick money, he jumped at the offer even when he did not what subsidy was all about.

The Minister, who hosted a few friends at the weekend said if he knew what he knows now, he would never have protested the subsidy removal. He appealed to Nigerians to be paitent with the Jonathan's administration saying that the youths protesting on the streets are helping the cabal to mortgage their future and enslave them (the youths) forever. He said that the youths were just being used, but that they should be forgiven 'as they do not know what they are doing'.

If they want to raise money, let them cut the salaries and allowances of politicians and office holders down by 50%.
