Boxing Legend Joe Frazier Dies at 67

The boxing legend died yesterday night from liver cancer at the age of 67. He was diagnosed less than six weeks ago and spent his final days in a Philadelphia-area hospice.

His family released this statement:
We The Family of the 1964 Olympic Boxing Heavyweight Gold Medalist, Former Heavyweight Boxing Champion and International Boxing Hall of Fame Member Smokin' Joe Frazier, regrets to inform you of his passing. He transitioned from this life as "One of God's Men," on the eve of November 7, 2011 at his home in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. We thank you for your prayers for our Father and vast outpouring of love and support.
May his soul rest in peace...amen.

Smoking Joe, may he RIP. The guy was a warrior. I still watch his three fights with Ali (the fight of the century in 71 and the thriller in Manila in 75) and his lone fight with Foreman in Jamaica on ESPN Classic. I think he was one fighter that Ali feared and that's why he abused him so much. Their rivalry spurred Frazier on to greatness. They fought in a golden era when the heavyweight division was so competitive, not like today with the likes of Audley Harrison.
