Huawei Technologies Ltd, world's biggest telecom service providers, has announced its entry into the highly competitive Nigerian mobile phone market, saying it will be making mobile phones accessible to Nigerians across different socio-economic classes.
Speaking during a media briefing at the Protea Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, on Thursday, October 13, 2011, Mr Jacky Lee, Managing Director, Terminals, Huawei Technologies West Africa Ltd, stated that the technology giant has always been driven by a need to do things differently and better. It is to this effect that it is bringing its “smart technology” which is currently being enjoyed in other markets around the world to Nigerians in the form of hand held mobile communication devices.
Lee explained that Huawei is offering mobile communication to Nigerians by providing world class mobile devices which stands shoulder to shoulder with the dominant players in the mobile phone market. He added that the company is making mobile phones accessible to Nigerians across different socio-economic classes.
He added that the company’s focus is on the value proposition to offer intelligent solutions to help telecom operators attract more subscribers and business opportunities and create a simple and fun life for end users.

To mark its foray into the Nigerian market, the company is introducing seven affordable phones into the country while pushing its Android Smartphones among the pack.
According to him, the company is introducing a range of smart phones that boast of high pixels, touch screens, hot spot/WiFi connectivity and sleek designs. He stated that the phones run on the Android operating system which is the fastest growing operating system.
The flagship of the Android phones is the U8520, which is a dual sim smart phone and supports both WCDMA/HSDPA 900/2100 MHz and GSM/GPRS/EDGE 900/1800/1900 MHz frequency bands.
He said the new phones have varied features and styles that meet individual needs ranging from its full business (Smart phones) phones to full social networking, emails and internet browsing.
He noted that the targets for the phones are young social networkers and those who have the youthful mindset, who often want a top quality phones with great applications, freebees and a great value offer.
He listed the other phones to include the G1000+,G6150, G6005, U8650 and the Boulder U8350 smart phone as well as the S7 Slim Tablet. Though these are application-based high end level phones, he noted that they are going to be affordable for the Nigerian market.

Despite all the new companies joining the market calls in Nigeria are still on the HIGH, I got an iphone 4s from T-mobile for free, Free calls to ANY mobile network and Land Line in the UK, Unlimited text msgs and Fast internet..all for £40 per month.And after 12months I get an upgrade to a new phone, of my choice while i get to keep the old.
PS: My wife pays £6.99 a month for her BB on virgin Media, Free BB handset,Free Internet, 500 free txt, and 200mins of free call all in a month.

Erm what are the credit safeguards in Nigeria TMob you break your contract it goes on your report, there, no such luck...
