The anniversary which was first celebrated in Austria, Germany, Denmark and Switzerland in 1911 primarily celebrates the economic, political and socio-cultural achievements of past, present, and future women.
The theme for this year's International Women's Day is ' Equal access to education, training and science and technology: Pathway to decent work for women'

Happy international Women's day. I want equal pay and respect for all women. As for Nigeria, it's time we have a female president or at least a female vice president.
Thanks Linda.... Happy International Women's day to you....
We will continue to demand equal rights and equal pay a Serena Williams once quoted, if she can play as well or better than Federer, why can't she be paid at par with him or other male tennis player...
We have gone through glass ceilings or glass walls in Nigeria and any other country and yet to say we have a female governor or female president or female v.p. or female secretary general...
We should also try to praise our female leaders for their achievements so as to move forward!
Tayo; i read this on FB last year “when i see Serena, all i see is a man bursting out to be a woman.” That’s why she said that perhaps. Lol!
We live in a patrilineal world and the men will always want to stay ahead of the women. Sad but true!
