Nigerians should stop taking credits for these prints, especially where they are not produced by Nigerians. Ankara got the name from Turkey the hub of quality clothing. how many Nigerian own these companies that produce these things. The Aso oke and Adire are what we should take credit for but how well are they promoted? all we know how to do is buy them for aso ebi. people complained about the black face on beyonce what will they say about this? i bet you a Nigerian is not behind the creative design.
@Blog Witch, what exactly is your point? Did anyone say anything to indicate Nigerians are taking credit for the prints? You sound really angry and half crazy......
Linda !!! when did you start allowing ghananians to start commenting on this blog. It is very glaring that @ blog witch at ii:25 am is from ghana. they are always jealous of nigeria and i can see that in his comment. Remember....GHANA MUST GO!!!!(from this blog)
What do we have for Ghana to be jealous of Nigeria, Nigerians should be ashamed of themselves.it tells a lot as a country where no one deems it safe to come to but rather explore the shores of Ghana. I myself would rather vacation in Ghana before even thinking about Nigeria
Blog witch! and how did you know the shoes were not made by a nigerian? You obviously don't know anything about Nigeria as a lot of Ankara. And yes some made be made in Turkey but do Turkish people wear Ankara? Common girl show a little bit of intelligence. For example Malt is produced in Europe (Holland) but do you see Oyinbo people drinking Malt (or malt drinks). It doesn't matter who produced it is an African Pride to see such things abroad. Have you seen bags made out of aso oke? I saw a White British lady carrying one in London and it was actually the first time I saw one!
As per the Beyonce pic! That was a bit offensive to me but really it depends on individual opinion. Race and Colour is a very sensitive issue in our generation and I beleive such should be approached with caution.
this is why i love nigerians! WE DON'T TAKE SHIT from anybody! whats your own BLOG WINCHY?! your name fit you well! well! as mine also. I HATE your comment! i don't like the shoes but wetin come be your point?
@Alicia, you are feeling insecure because you are a ghananian.....let the truth be spoken and put the devil to shame...GHANANIANS ARE JEALOUS OF NIGERIANS
@ idiotic anonymous 9:27 AM that is exactly why you're anonymous! second of all, I've always been Nigerian, Igbo & DAMN PROUD! who the hell are you to label me a Ghanaian because i don't think there should be a Ghana vs Nigeria war on a blog post about shoes? get the F**K outta here. you are the ones that make Ghanaians feel we Nigerians are sweating over them, or feel "jealous" of them. don't even give them the benefit of the doubt by even discussing them! thats the point i was trying to make, idiot. when you talk about them, they will use that to say ALL NIGERIANS are jealous and wanna be like them. its an insult to the highest order, in my opinion. what does a Ghanaian have that a Nigerian doesn't to which i should be jealous of or want? NOTHING. so why even discuss them to begin with? its people like YOU that make them believe we are the ones that are "hating" on them and not the other way around. i can't believe how stupid and ignorant your comment was. maybe Blog Witch isn't a Ghanaian. she, like many other Nigerians, have said the same thing. SO WHATS THE BEEF? GO AND REST, ABEG!!!!
Come on guys, I'm sure the intention of showing these shoes was to bring to light the fact that the rest of the world have noticed or are noticing African prints and that's a good thing! lighten up Charlieee!lol
How did we get from talking about Ankara shoes to comparing Ghanaians and Nigerians? Disgusting how people need only a little prodding to begin spilling all of their veiled prejudices?
@ anonymous 2011 4:02 PM I'm sure you are the same useless anonymous from the other post. and who said the i am forced to use my real name on the internet? are you even using your name to comment? Alicia is the name i used to comment on Linda's blog. at least I'm using a name, what is yours, "Anonymous"???
I tire for pple on dis blog, aldo dey sell ankara shoes dey make thier money, some pple dey tear thier pata n drink panadol 4 headache wey no even dey worry anoda man sef, wettin concern naija concern ghana 4 dis mata now? How una take even sure weda blog winch na even ghana person?
How sad.....at the end of the day both Nigeria and Ghana are classed as third world countries. This is why Africa as a whole has not developed 50 odd years after independence.....rather than focus on the big picture or the important issue. We put down our productive tools and focus on irrelevant issues. I have met a lot of irritating Ghanians, likewise I have met a lot of irritating Nigerians. So why don't we conclude properly and focus on more important issues...like gosh those wedges are too high for any normal girl to wear......Please note...the West have always fancied African art....fabrics included, whether ankara is produced in Africa or not....is not really a topic of discussion. Just another case of people lacking information about the past.....but trying to conclude about the present.

sorry, i meant to say "SHOULDN'T!"
Those Ghanaians are the worst black bitches in the UK! If you thought Nigerians were no good please move close to a Ghanaian.
The Ghanaians in Nigeria are very nice because they are in Nigeria. That is what I just found out.
In the UK, they get Nigerians sacked at work by getting their people to do the job for less salary. If I am telling lies, P-L-E-A-S-E ask a Nigerian!
