Linda, where did you get the love letter from in the first place ? How did you get it?
Anyway, the story teaches men not to write love letters and use their mouth to express their feelings, chikena.
The result na "simple yes or no"!(Apologies to Lagbaja)

very very funny letter but seriously though, the poor grammar leaves me seriously worried about the poor standard of English in Nigeria (I am assuming that this letter was written by a Nigerian)- anyway Linda, you are the 'honey in my tea', lol

Linda, please consider this guy o and tell him u DID. You don't need any security around you when you are with this guy. The bullet from his mouth alone is enough to ward off any unwanted guest. LOL

This is funny and yet no so funny. The not so funny part is that over the years with what I call textisms, I have seen a steady decline in grammar from my Nigerian folks. It is sad! I AM NOT saying Americans are NOT experiencing the same thing because they do but this forum deals with mostly Nigerians hence the specificity of my post.

Linda, if the girl is as gorgeous as you, I can understand why he's writing like that...

This document has been doctored. It has been circulating around facebook for a while, and the version I saw, a few months ago was dated 2008.

I'm not saying the author of this post did, it probably must have been edited from wherever the author got it from in a bid to make it look more recent...

But while it might be easy for us to laugh and mock the young man who probably wrote this, I see no cause for it, as the English language is not our generic language, and I also wonder when the fluidity of a means/choice of expression became the definition of true intentions...I think it is good we begin to see people beyond their face value, and for who they are within.

That someone speaks poor or pathetic English doesn't neccesarily interprete to mean that they are stupid or blockheads.I have met 'geniuses' from other parts of the world whose English can make you puke, yet they are more intelligent than some people who supposedly speak good English.

A Japanese man was once speaking to an American in very poor English, and when the man apologised for his poor English, the American responded saying "If only I speak Japanese, a tenth of the English you speak...". For anything you know so well and the other person doesn't , there might just be two other things that he knows so well that you do not.

I think we might just have to stop this 'tradition' of stigmatising people who speak poor English. Even some English people open their mouths to speak and they leave you wondering...

If you read through this post, you'll probably find at least a grammatical flaw, after all, doesn't it show that I'm human, and doesn't know it all?

If you have never misconstrued the English language, you could as well respond(unconstructively)to this.

p.s
(I'm sorry if my comment sounds a tad extreme, I couldn't help it based on some other somewhat similar experiences I have had outside what is on this page).

My dear sister,
l read this letter but could not understand why you decided to publish it. This guy is truelly in ...[love].
Nigerians are at best unsettling with spurious Cachinnations on wrong use of english language.
If you ask me to give you an honest advice. l will tell you that this guy truelly mean well for you.[ for him to brace up to the onerous challenge of posting this letter to you]knowing fully well that you are highly literate.
Nigerians should stop regarding the good use of english as an indication of being educated.
Education should include, one's ability to face challenges [like this guy did], it should include social democracy and tolerance etc.
l look forward to hearing from you any of these days, sister.
