U need to block web companies, especially Google, and Facebook from tracking you through cookies. Regularly delete flash cookies they leave behind each time you surf the web. It stops them from tracking and slowing down your connection with targeted advertising cookie - it is usually based on your surfing harbit, where you are in the world, what sites you've been on, how often, fashion sites?, well, they follow you and position the adverts for those products in your eyeballs. There are a host of firms in the data data mining business and they sell the info to marketers. Google makes billions from data mining - thats how the right ads from Google AdWords get clicked on cos it is position in front of the right eyeballs at the right times.
Depending on your browser, you can set your pc to delete cookies each time you shut down your system, but you may run into problem accessing Facebook, Twitter, Blogger Blog, if you don't know how to fiddle with the settings for the cookies. Its easy.
But,....use this below....
You need to kill scripts on your pc. If you use Firefox, then you need to install a few Mozilla webmaster Add-on to help u avoid scripts, etc:
You need "Ghostery Browser Add-on"
http://Ghostery.com, but
Go to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox and search for:
"Ghostery"
Its the first on the result page. Once installed, fiddle with it and you'll get the hang of it. Easy.
Go to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox and search for:
"NoScript"
I use Ghostery, NoScript, Firebug, AdBlock Plus, but u should be okay with just "Ghostery" and "NoScript"...
If u do internet banking with same PC / Notebook, then, cos all your Browser Add-Ons are on Mozilla Firefox, its safer to use Internet Explorer (or Apple Safari or Opera) to avoid account hijack.
....
"CoolPreviews" is a script that opens a browser that can't be slowed down by Google or other data miners. Go to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox and search for:
"CoolPreviews"
I thought about my previous comment about your slow connection or pc. The problem might be a combination of scripts and memory issues. So, what you probably need is to make your pc run faster.
* Get rid of programs on your hard drive that you do not need or use often, * Get rid of images from you hard drive, * Power Management adjustment can make a big difference on a Notebook or Laptop.
Download and install Picasa. It is by Google. Use Picasa to sort ur pics, especially use it to save pics on external hard drive instead of on the internal hard drive. A good pocket size external hard drive is Western Digital Passport Portable Hard Drive. You need it. It comes in 320Gb or 500Gb. Get the 500Gb. Use it to store all the images, accounting records, word documents, PowerPoint, etc that are currently on your hard drive. Delete all images from your hard drive. It will free up a lot of space. The more space you have on your hard drive, the faster your pc. This is various ways that you can make ur pc to run faster:
Click Start > RUN > MsConfig. Type msconfig. Press Enter. Remove programs which u don’t need to start each time u start ur pc.
Click Start > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup. Select Drive C.
Click Start > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter.
Ctrl + G > Delete history on Firefox. Also Internet Explorer.
This really works. U can use the power Management setting to increase performance of your notebook. It works on laptop, too. On Window 7, click Start > Control Panel > Power Options. U create a custom power plan. It’s easy. “On Battery” (don’t change anything here). Where u make changes is on “Plugged In” (1) Dim The Display: NEVER. (2) Turn off The Display: NEVER. (3) Put The Computer to Sleep: NEVER. ***The only problem u may encounter by fiddling the Power Management setting to increase performance is that when u are out and about and away from mains supply, it drains your battery faster. Therefore, if battery on ur notebook usually last 7 hours with the factory setting on the Power Management, but with the above customized power plan, you’d about 3 hours from your battery. U can charge in the car or with pocket size solar charger.
