it's a pity he had to go like this but God has His reasons. Sleep in peace my President for i know you could have done better if you had been allowed to follow your conscience.

YarÁdua is the 1st ELECTED president to die in offfice.Abacha was not an elected president.

He was a good man with good intentions for the country. He unfortunately surrounded himself with useless politicians. May his soul rest in peace.

Thanks Linda, that clarification was necessary. Whether President, Prime Minister, Head of State or Head of Government, Yaradua is the 2nd Nigerian Leader to die in Aso Rock. Chikena. Love you

President and military head of state na the same Linda.......

Rest in Peace our Beloved President. Had Turai and the other power mongers allowed you to make a choice,I'm sure you would have opted for resignation when your health started failing you real badly. Likely, you would still be alive today cos the weight of the country's demands would have been off your shoulders, allowing you some rest.

omigash you ppl are wicked. So your president has died and all i see is 5 comments thus far and not much of RIP - i mean i know it was expected but still - have a lil remorse (or is it bcos of his annoying wife) - Even many popular 9ja blogs (i wont mention names) - dont have it as their headline like nothing happened. Anyway sha am from Ghana and i stop here to pay my condolence to the loss of your president. I wish you all peace. So now that he is gone - whats next. The whole world is watching.

Linda you don goof oooo. Yar'Adua was not the first president to die in office at all. You meant first civilian president to die in office. I think a TV station said he was the 4th or 5th, I'm not sure.

Anonymous said...

Linda, Abacha was addressed as a President not Head of State. What a Gaffe! You are wrong... Even Babangida was a Military President. Yar'Adua was Nigeria's 1st (University) graduate president. Try and cross-check facts all the time. Are you saying Military Presidents do not exit?

To the person that said Yar'Adua is the first university graduate president, please go read Naija history. What about Nnamdi Azikiwe. He graduated from an Ivy League University in the U.S in 1933.He had a graduate degree and taught at Lincoln University. He is the first Nigeria President. I am ashamed that some Nigerians don't know their history!! I beg Yar'Adua is not the University graduate President. Lord have mercy!!

Anonymous said...

Maybe you should have said he was the first President-Elect...but I knew what you meant jare.

tnaike said...

Linda no give false details. He his not the first to die as Nigerian president.Hes the 5th. We have people like Abacha, Tafawabalewa.. Only two died and 3 assassinated. So hes the 2nd. Ok

Love you Lin Lin keep the debate on. At least we have something to talk/write about. RIP Yaradua. Like someone said, you were a human being, husband, father, etc. May your soul rest in peace. Pips allow his soul to rest in peace. After all If you were in Nigeria you got one holiday and for Katsina state, a whole 7 days. God bless Nigeria

Anonymous said...

Our President was indeed a gentle man...rest in peace.

Anonymous said...

You did not write "civilian president" until now so you still goofed, hiss!!! There are two major types of Presidents.

Chima said...

Linda! Linda!! Linda!!!
how many time did i call you?
so the reson why Yaradua refused to resigned was to die in office at the expense of Nigerians in other to win our sympathy?
Have you forgotten what Nigerians went through when this man was sick. Besides, they never for one day admitted that he was terminally sick. He may be a nice man but he left very little positive to be remebered for . H e had opportunity to write his name in gold but surounded himself with fraudulent politicians. At a point i started to imagine is it was the same yaradua i know while serving as a youth corper in katsina then He was A governor. Power in indeed corrupts! I hope jonathan will have some thing to learn. Leadership is an opportnity from God and I believe that when it comes, we should try to use it to serve the best interest of the people. If Yaradua had listened to the advice of his Doctors, and resign, He may still be alive today.

goodness gracious! She has mentioned repeatedly that he was the first President (i.e. elected to office)to die in office. Which is what a President actually is, and totally different from whatever self-styled accolades by Abacha or IBB addressed themselves.

O.k Linda make I assist you so that people will understand what you were saying: the "First President-not-a-Prime-Minster-elected-into-office-through-democratic-elections-and-not-through-will-of-military-force-who-by-the-way-is-also-a-graduate-of-a-Nigerian-university" has passed away.

Whatever his faults or the faults of his family, they are experiencing a hard loss right now and I pray God sees them through it all.

Baba Geez said...

@IB, please go to AIT and abuse them because AIT said Yar'Adua was Nigeria's first graduate president and 5th president to die in office. After that come back to yab. Ha ha ha!
@tnaike, it does not matter how they died as long as they died in the office. Are you laughing? Linda loves controversy and it is good for our brains o. Linda ride on...

I weep for my beloved President Umaru Yaradua. You were a trully a good man, but surrounded by terrible people. May ur gentle and humble soul rest in peace.....

I will mioss you.

Millitary leader of a country= head of state
President Elect= Elected president not yet sworn in.
President= Democratically elected civillian leader of a country.
Babangida aka IBB= Head of State. He's still trying to be a president, until then, ex Head of State.
Technically, we've not had plenty presidents(which means civillian democratic leaders) yet- talkless of those who've died in office.
So if you goofed, now you know.

Penkele-mess said...

Linda, I beg eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, blog something new or are you doing 7 days of mourning? A ThisDay columnist said that the new First Lady wept as if the world would fall. No bi crocodile tears? As for me, I no go mourn at all because na the ARROW OF GOD ala Chinua Achebe. Yar'Adua suffered until he died. It is unfortunate that he was kept in bondage.

Matt said...

In the Queen's reported condolence message to Nigeria by AP, the post of President was called HEAD OF STATE. What does that mean? It means that Yar'Adua was not properly elected. Yar'Adua once said so too.

Shagari was also a civilian president so how could Yar'Adua be your first president? Shagari is Nigeria's first civilian and democratically election President despite allegations of fraudulent votes like Yar'Adua's...

Anonymous said...

yea we know
rip daddy yardie
now please can u update ur blog?
im kinda sick of seeing this each time i land here
thank you

Anonymous said...

@Matt she originally said "First President to die in office" as far as we know, Shagari did not die in office. Please try to keep up...

Anonymous said...

Was he the first to die in office? hhhmmmmm

RIP MR HEAD OF STATE....PRESIDENT....WATEVER....ALL NA TITLE DAT DOES NOT HAVE ANYTIN TO DO WITH THE KINGDOM OG GOD WHICH I BELIEVE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT IN A MAN'S LIFE BE U A MESSENGER OR A PRESIDENT.
LOVE FOR POWER AND UNDECISIVENESS CAUSED YARADUA ALL D PROBLEMS HE HAD.
IN THE FIRST PLACE,IF HE HAD BEEN CAREFUL WITH THE KIND OF PEOPLE THAT SURROUNDED HIM,ALL THESE WONT HAVE BEEN SO TERRIBLE.
I HOPE THIS IS A LESSON TO THOSE OF US LEFT BEHIND.
MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PERFECT PEACE.
