The controversial and hilarious hit song (and the video), Ekaette, sung by Nigerian returnee Maye Hunta, has been banned by the National Broadcasting commission (NBC) with effect from today, according to information contained in a memo obtained by NEXT.
The document, which was signed by the commission's zonal director, Ojone Otonoku, said the song and its video were banned because "of its graphic description of sexual scenes and expression not presented with fact and discretion. Stations are therefore requested to immediately stop further broadcast of this musical and air only a broadcast version.

shallow hypocritical human beings! Na guilty conscience they catch them. The more they watch d vid, the more they think of the Ekaettes they have banged and are still banging.
The story of Ekaette and Oga is one that must not be ignored--especially in Nigeria. It happens like every 5 seconds there.
I love that song and video and i think this is just stupid~
I don't like the msg in the song cos if i remember correctly, he indirectly blamed his wife for making him sleep with ekaette cos she came home late from work, or whatever. I've seen the video once but i don't remember anything risque about it. Oh well.

That's a good video.....I'm not crazy about the song though. Banning it is taking it a bit too far. Sting is right, he blamed his wife for noticing the sexy maid....whatever.
His wife in the video, reminds me of Linda from an angle.

what is there to learn from the song/video -- that Ekaetes are typically maids/sex objects?
that Nigerian professional women typically neglect their homes? that Nigerian men typically see nothing wrong in sexually abusing unfortunate women? [even if she consented or even gave the green light].
artistes/producers should give more thought/discretion to their work before releasing it or others will have to do it for them.

when people ask why this song was banned, i ask them how comfortable they are hearing their kids and teenage siblings sing the song? that is the test. the song (not the video) is explicit, other songs at least try to code it
