Caster Semenya is Hermaphrodite?

Read the story below...

Tests have revealed South African women's athlete Caster Semenya is a hermaphrodite, born with male and female sex organs.

WORLD athletics is in crisis with tests showing champion runner Caster Semenya is a hermaphrodite - having both female and male sexual characteristics.

male-female-development

The tests, not yet publicly released, show the 18-year-old has no womb or ovaries. The International Association of Athletics Federations is expected to disqualify the South African from future events and advise her to have surgery because her condition carries grave health risks, The Daily Telegraph reports.

And she could be stripped of the gold medal she won in Berlin in last month. Semenya has three times more testosterone than a normal female. A source closely involved with the IAAF tests said Semenya had internal testes - the male sexual organs which produce testosterone.

Testosterone is a male hormone with a primary task of building muscle bulk. It also produces body hair and a deep voice. It is believed Semenya is unaware the tests identify her as an hermaphrodite.

We need proof abeg...
Thoughts???

If the test was carried out on her, how will she not be aware of the result before it gets to the public? She may have to get some people sued. And the last I heard was that they would not have any test carried out. I hope this source is reliable Linda.

Honestly...am not surprised. I think she should have waited for the results before doing that photo-shoot.

Its gonna suck if she's stripped of her medals though...I wish her well.

if confirmed true and if consequently stripped of the medal, it will be sad indeed cos after all is said and done, s/he worked hard for it!

...all d years of hardwork knocked off in a heartbeat coupled with global humiliation & emotional pressure; must be an absolutely horrid experience...so sad

being Hermaphrodite is like being of a mixed race...and the individual can choose to be white or black depending on d situation.....becos the fact is d individual has ties to both groups....so in relation to Semenya...if confirmed that she is Hermaphrodite...its up to her WHICH GROUP SHE WANTS TO ASSOCIATE WITH!....so why should she be stripped of her medal? she has not commited a crime.....I hope she gets good lawyers becos if she was WHITE...i know this would be handled differently.......

and before anyone throws the race card on me....I am married to a white man!!

i think linda meant she didn't know she possessed both chromosomes..
it's so sad..but since she won the medals as a woman with no motive to defraud they should just let the poor girl be..

cos she will be going through too much already.i feel for her. she could be traumatised for life.reminds me of that episode of 'HOUSE' with the models who had internal testes.

Anon 6.01pm - we can't choose! People always choose for us - and we just have to go along with it and smile while the party in question totally disses the other race......

But good luck though!

I knew it! When I first saw her pic, i was like ok, she might not be a male, which is what everyone guessed, but I think she's hermophrodite, and my friends were like, don't say that. But I guess she sees herself more as a female, even though her masulinity is very dominant. It's a sad situation, and I hope everyone will just leave her alone.

Hey Linda, actually the word hermaphrodite is not in use any more as its a misnomer. There is no such person having all female or male sexual organs or traits. It's not possible and CNN just confirmed it, so while she has some masculine traits (she's producing more testosterone than the average woman, way more) the term hermaphrodite is simply not fair and leads to the wrong impression...

This is an unfortunate medical condition that she has no control over just like the actress Jamie Lee Curtis. This is usually determined at birth and if the parents chose to raise her as a woman, she is to all intents and purposes a woman. Unless there are some clear cut about the genetics of athletes she shd not be stripped of her medals

I cannot believe that as hard as this Woman worked to come up in such rough circumstances people who have no medical knowledge are trying to take away everything SHE has done because of a medical condition. If she has a vagina, how can she be considered a man she is still a WOMAN with/without ovaries, she doesn't have a penis so what does it matter. As hard as it is for us as women to receive any accolades or recognition in sports, i think we should band 2gether as women and protest the demeaning and hurtful treatment of this young lady; who by the way didn't know herself she was a hemaphrodite
