BRITISH SAILORS FREED.

British naval personnel who were seized off the Shatt al-Arab waterway on March 23, and detained in Iran for thirteen days have finally been released. They were released just this evening April 4th in Tehran by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who said they were released as a "gift to the British people"

Thank God no one was beheaded.

At last, the Iranian president wore his thinking cap and realised it didn't pay to be stubborn especially when dealing with the Europeans. Those sailors were in Iraqi waters and not there's.Iran made the right move, else their heads would have been chopped off by EU and the United States.

Dami did I hear u say EU can impose sanctions on Iran?EU has no right whatsoever to impose sanctions on Iran.It happens to be regional organisation just like AU and the League of Arab states.Only and I mean only an organisation with an international scope and character just like the United Nations has the right to impose any sanction.Inotherwords the European Union is an exception to this rule in some areas because it is a union of 27 independent states based on the European communities and founded to enhance political, economic and social co-operation among its members.

I must say that I am happy this standoff has come to a peaceful end.It really raised international tension.

To dami, those sailors were in Iraqi waters on a routine UN mission but Iran claims they strayed into its territorial waters. Now,the Shat al-Arab waterway is between Iraq and Iran, what evidence do they have to show that these sailors actually strayed into their waters..ehn?
