Lady recounts how her pregnant friend was denied entry into the US from Dubai

Twitter user claims her friend who stopped over at Dubai enroute the US was denied entry into the US despite having a valid visa and had travelled multiple times. According to the twitter user, the woman was pregnant and even gave birth to a premature baby while in Dubai. Read her tweets from bottom up. More after the cut

Haba! People should stop being emotional and start thinking and doing The needful. She may have a valid visiting Visa but does not have the required medical documents that allow her delivery in the US. Travelling a lot if times has nothing to do with the approved medical requirement or delivery requirement.

And the embassy will b telling us nonsense, period

If you are pregnant dont come to the US they will not allow you in. They know you are coming to give birth here.

There's something wrong with this story. Your friend didn't tell you the truth as to why she was denied entry. Besides, why isn't she complaining herself? Amebo, broadcasting story you don't know about.

She needs to make this statement herself cos she can denied ever knowing you.

Say what you know Oga, I had my baby in Texas and that was the reason I applied for the visa and got it. I was issued a B2 visa which is for medical cos I stated the reason for my trip is to go have a baby.you will only be deported if u r travelling to ve a baby with a B1 tourist visa meaning u lied to the consulate dt u r going for vacation.

Even Linda knows the lady was sneaking in to the USA, just to pop that baby, get him/her a passport and return to Naija, but her hatred for Trump will always cloud her judgement. Mtchew!

So she wants to have an anchor baby? Has she forgotten so suddenly that it was a campaign point during the elections? You can't show up at immigration with 9months belle and expect them to welcome you. The friend wan born abroad by force and since USA wasn't available Dubai airport was the next choice. The story is one-sided and its unfair to the Immigration/Border officers. Some of our people go to US to give birth without doing the needful. There are steps to take before embarking on such journey: Firstly, you need to get a Gynaecologist and a hospital for delivery. Secondly, you need to make deposit to both the Gynaecologist and the hospital. Thirdly, all receipts must be collected from the hospital and the Gynaecologist. Fourthly, you need a medical report from your Naija Doctor certifying that you are medically fit to travel for those long hours. Lastly, you must be truthful at the entry point when you are being asked questions concerning your stay in the US. Be wise enough to tell them you are there to give birth and that you have made some deposit to both the Gynaecologist and the hospital. All these claims must be backed up with receipts from both institutions. The Immigration guys are friendly and they would treat you with respect if you are truthful and highly detailed about your intentions. A lot of Nigerian women would give birth in the US without paying all the necessary bills. We must learn to be responsible and transparent in all our dealings.

Did she declare she wanted to have a baby in the US in her visa application? Is she on the correct visa for that? Visiting and giving birth are not same visa. Abeg! Liar

My friend was not even allowed to travel to the states in 2014 because her pregnancy was showing and this was in Lagos. The airline and Nigeria immigration did not allow her to even pass the security check and told her after she gives birth she can travel. And this is someone that has travelled multiple times before even her first child was born in the states.. So this people should just stop all the lies and know that the real reason why they were not allowed to travel and sent back to Nigeria is because of their big showing belle. Stop causing division, confusion and panic with false news.

Onyeama does not know what he is saying. He wants to investigate those being deported. What can he do with the report? He is going to bash the U.S ? Or may be he is going to return thjose sent back to the U.S ? What can he do really?

Anon 14:42 the story ain't frivolous,
the story is actually about my wife. Just so u understand, we got the visa 2yrs ago and we had actually travelled on this visa prior to this trip. Before we embarked on this trip we had written to the American Embassy in Lagos explaining that we planned to travel to the Us to have our baby and they responded to our letter. On getting to Houston, The CBP officer that interviewed my wife was a piece of work, she didn't allow my wife respond to the questions she was asked. For ur info we had paid the doctors fees in advance and had more than enough cash on us for the hospital expenses .There was no logical reason for denying my wife entry. The shocking part of the story is that they allowed me in but refused my wife entry. When I demanded to see my wife they refused and eventually they actually escorted me out of the airport with armed personnel. They held my wife for over 24 hours (in her pregnant state) without giving us access to each other. They offered her food she couldn't eat which made her hungry and uncomfortable. They also lied to her that they had contacted me to let me know how she was doing which was sooooo false. I had to contact the airline myself and when I discovered from them the next day that my wife's itinerary had been changed (by the CBP officers) and she was booked to leave for Nigeria on the next flight, I also changed my flight to leave on the same flight. For ur info we had traveled almost 24hrs to get to Houston from Nigeria and then now another 15hrs back to Dubai before heading to Nigeria. I decided to allow my wife rest in Dubai for a few days to get some strength to complete the journey however the whole stress was just too much for her. She started spotting and I had to rush her to the hospital where an emergency C-Section was done. I thank God both my wife and baby are doing OK, thanx to the swift and professional help of the medical personnel. My daughter was born at 31 weeks and she will have to be in the incubator till she is at least 35weeks. Each day she spends in the hospital is gonna cost a minimum of 2,250 dirhams.
Several Nigerians are turned back on a daily basis from America for silly reasons (that's a fact @d Minister of Foreign Affairs). Abike Dabiri's is sooo correct.

Thank u my dear. U r not meant to have a baby on a visiting visa. Go to the embassy, tell them u want to go and have a baby, pay ur hospital deposit and get a medical visa. Simple

Anonymous said...

Thank u. Get a medical visa and u will not have any problems. But Nigerians want the easy way out. Then it's to abuse trump.

Anonymous said...

Thank U. So she had to go just when she was popping??? She couldn't travel earlier?

Anonymous said...

Don't mind them. Look at this o e traveling so close to her EDD and abusing trump. The truth is if u had followed the necessary steps which have been outlined above and gotten a medical visa u would have had ur baby there. Macheeeeew

Aunty anonymous 14:59 u sef,too know they worry you. I have a B1 visa and I gave birth to my child in Georgia.

ABI said...

Maybe if we as Nigerians start fighting for our own, then other countries will begin to respect us.As long as u have a valid visa and you can prove that you can support all your medical bill in the US,there is no law that prohibits anyone from having their babies in the US for now. People should stop saying what they have no knowledge of. The only reason a border official will refuse a pregnant woman entry is if she tells a lie about her reason for coming to the US. Pls people stop crucifying women who choose to go abroad to have their babies.what u want is diff from what I want.Just because u dont ve the opportunity doesnt mean u shud condemn others.

God bless you anon

The people that don't believe . Knowledge is power. I traveled at 33weeks , this lady at 31weeks how is it close to her Edd. Those saying good for her to have her baby prematurely may God forgive u all. I entered and told them truth and my tummy was really big and I was not sent back. Instead I was wished safe delivery. This didn't happen last year but last month. Nigerian's r hateful so sad. People saying good for her.smh

Anonymous 15:2.My dear not all doctors (gynaecologist)accept payment. I can tell you for a fact and with proof. There is a particular one, highly recommended cos of his experience and good work but does not accept deposit until you are here and in his practice.

Anonymous said...

How bless you @Abi. Well spoken. Some people are just bitter cos they don't have the opportunity or cos they are ignorant of the future advantages for the child.

Anonymous said...

At Anonymous 22:03, don't mind them. Some border security agents are also not patient and wicked and even if one has everything, they still can send you back. I witnessed a preganant woman that was almost sent back cos she started stuttering when overwhelmed with so much questions from the US immigration official and she became nervous. If not for the supervisor of the immigration officer that took over, she would have been sent back for no reason all cos she wasn't quick with her responses.

Why are Nigerians so hateful. Its so sad that this is coming from the youths who should strive to show support. How do we make the country better? When we cant even stand together and defend what is right. Just because you do not see the need to go give birth in the US, doesn't mean others don't. We all place value on different things. Don't force yours down someones throat. I traveled to the US at 32 weeks, on a B1/B2 VISA, informed the embassy. Got to the point of entry and the first guy I met was so rude and was going to send me home. I had paid my hospital and doctors bills in full. Showed him the receipt and he still wasn't satisfied. Luckily he's shift was about to end, so the next person that came on took over before he was able to cancel my visa.

Thank God for the next guy that came in. He didn't understand why the other guy was going to send me back home. He was very apologetic, and even got snacks for my toddler. Because we had being there a long time. He even asked me what the sex of my baby is , and one of the women commended my strength, because i had to travel with my toddler. We joked and made small talks. And they happily granted me entry. Telling me to make sure i have my receipts anytime I travel. Thing is, people come to work with a bag full of issues. This people have the power of discretion. So some of them abuse it. Especially the racist ones.I have being at the point of entry and the guy that stamped a pregnant woman in front of me did not seem to care. He hardly even looked up to her. Not even a question asked. He just stamped her in and that was it. Not even the generic question of 'why are you here and how long will you be staying.'
Please people should stop being so hateful. That you do not approve of someone going to the US to give birth doesn't mean you should castigate others that do!

Instead of bad belle people to pray to God for a better life, they try to drag others that have the opportunity down. Why Nigerians in the US get so bitter about Nigerians coming to give birth in America is what I can't understand. Do you know the number of Chinese that give birth yearly in America? How many Mexicans come in, give birth and take welfare for years without contributing a dime in tax? Why are you guys so bitter towards your own? Abi una wan be the only ones wey get Kpali so when you come to 9ja, it will be your boasting adv?
The truth remains that if you meet an immigration officer having a bad day, he/she has the right to deny you entry. You could request for a supervisor but how many Nigerians know that?
