Video: Gambian president follows GEJ's footstep, calls his opponent on phone to concede defeat after presidential election

Gambian president, Yahya Jammeh, has followed in the footstep of former President Goodluck Jonathan, by calling the winner of the December 1st Gambian presidential election, Adama Narrow (pictured right) on phone, to concede defeat and congratulate him for winning the election.

Recall Jonathan made history in African politics back in 2015 by becoming the first sitting African president to call his successor on phone to concede defeat. Gambian president, Yahya has been in power for 22 years, since 1994. He will handover to Adama in January 2017.

Jonathan has set a precedent that will ricochet from Africa to Asian ,to Saudi Arabia,to North-Korea,to South-America , to Cuba and to all rouge regime through the world.I bet you Babangida will have wish he did this first.[ HURAY AFRICA\ JONATHAN has set us on a CIVILIZATION ROUTE. Our Generation should make sure we becomes the guardian of Democracy in Africa, We should not allow the Hausa's to do buissnes as usual or take us back to the coup days where they have a chance to hold the gun over our heads. Thank Gambians for following in the footsteps of DR JONATHAN.

Please don't say that. He had options but thank God he chose to hand over(Africa institutions are currently inadequate to maintain order on its own). With current happening as per peaceful handover, we taking one step at a time.

To be candid, I never accepted that Yaya Jameh would surrender the way he did taking into account his occupation of the seat of Gambian power for such a long time and negative stuff written about him. All glory to God almighty and thanks to Jonathan Goodluck for his exemplary initiative of leading the way and showing the light. It remains to be seen if those who believe that leadership is their birthright in Nigeria will for once wisen up and accept the rule of law and the new wind of change blowing in the African continent. As for us Biafrans, we want nothing but to leave in peace to build our nation. No retreat and no surrender until the objective is achieved preferably in peace.
