Photo: Nigeria Customs recovers sacks of cocaine hidden in 20ft container at Tincan port

Detectives attached to the Tincan Island Command of the Nigeria Customs Service impounded about eight sacks of cocaine that were hidden in a 20ft container owned by a manufacturing company, Nigerite, which came into the country from Spain.

Two persons identified as one Amata Jonah, Nigerite procurement manager and a clearing agent, have since been detained in connection with the importation of the illicit drugs.

The Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Bashiru Yusuf, who made this disclosure yesterday, said the items seized did not show in the ship manifest that was presented to Custom officers at the point of examination. He said preliminary investigation showed that, though the container had in it other cargo that were declared in the ship manifest, items that were concealed in the eight black bags were not declared.

However, Mr Amata claimed Nigerite was not aware of the existence of the substance in their cargo. The NDLEA officials who performed field test on the seizure said preliminary examination confirmed that the item in the black bag was cocaine.

Idiots that used to blame economic recession for drug dealings will definitely have something else to blame now because this is a procurement manager whose salary and allowances can feed multitudes yet, he engages in drug biz!

Be mindful of your comment, the so called procurement manager has nothing to do with it, he's not the MD of it and Linda better make sûre you follow up this story because the "Amata Jonah" is my uncle and i live with him, if he's into drugs i know where we for dy, he's back home now and the container of drugs doesn't belong to nigerite.

Which salary, you better don't be gullible to press twisted stories, my uncle is not into drugs, and he's been cleared, but madam Linda won't update that now. The cocaïne didn't even come in from spain but colombia and nigerite goods came in from new zealand..so please don't tag someone guilty when you do not have the facts.
